Greetings, tankers! With you is the first tank from the New Year's boxes (already 100% confirmed) American heavy tank tier 8 M-IV-Y in World of Tanks. This is premium equipment for the new branch of the “Yoh” series. In principle, the situation is already standard; we observed a similar attempt to buy donations with the Italian Bisonte C45 and the Soviet Object 703 option 2.
The M-IV-Y has a unique "backup track" mechanic, making it unstoppable; hitting the track only slows it down. This is already the 7th premium US heavyweight of level 8, so we will compare it with previous American TTs using the example of performance characteristics.
The M-IV-Y has a 105 mm gun with a one-time damage of 360 units, which is quite good for level 8. Armor penetration with a basic 220 mm armor-piercing projectile, and with a special 247 mm sub-caliber - this is not the ultimate dream, but quite normal indicators. The gun folds in 2.4 seconds, which is the norm for this caliber, but the accuracy is let down - only 0.38 (the worst figure among premium US TTs).
By the way, both types of projectiles have good flight speed, which gives an advantage when shooting at a moving target.
The turret traverse speed is good at 36.5°, so the tank can quickly react to the appearance of the enemy and will not allow itself to get spun. In addition, it has comfortable vertical guidance angles of +10...-20°, so it can confidently deal damage when playing on terrain. Reloading the gun takes 10.83 seconds, which allows you to fire 5.54 shots per minute with a potential damage of 1994 units, which is not so much for level 8.
The standard safety factor is 1500 units. The nominal frontal armor of the hull is 178 mm; taking into account the reduction, the VLD can repel projectiles of about 250-270 mm. There were some vulnerable areas: the strip of armor at the junction of the VLD and NLD was about 230 mm. NLDs are quite noticeable in size, it will be difficult to miss and, in principle, they can be penetrated by any single-level tank.
The turret in frontal view looks impressive - cast and practically impenetrable with 279 mm of nominal armor. The adjustment in the center of the turret is about 300 mm, and the further to the side, the more (from 370 to 700+), so there is no point in even shooting there. However, not everything is so rosy:
the turret is easily penetrated under the gun, there is 210 mm of armor;
a large “bucket” ala commander’s turret, which is not difficult to target, which negates the cool armor of the turret. The turret is the same size as the M54 Renegade.
M-IV-Y boasts good mobility, one of the best among its classmates. With a tank mass of 47 tons, the specific power is 18.09 hp/t, which allows it to accelerate to 45 km/h. The chassis traverse speed is 36.51°, so maneuverability is also in perfect order. The viewing radius is an unremarkable 380 meters and it will no longer be possible to accelerate it to the maximum value (without optics or ventilation). Camouflage is one of the worst among TT 8.
ADVANTAGES AND DISADVANTAGES
Let's summarize the tactical and technical characteristics of the M-IV-Y, highlighting its strengths and weaknesses.
Advantages:
presence of “backup track” mechanics;
projectile speed;
comfortable UVN;
strong tower;
good dynamics;
excellent maneuverability for a TT.
Flaws:
poor accuracy;
mediocre hull armor;
large commander's cupola;
poor camouflage (although for TT this is far from the main indicator).

Не знаю, катаю на нем уже долго, сделал средуху 2400, танчик для меня шикарен по орудию, по скорости, по броне, да может лючок и мешает, но я всегда после выстрела поднимаю орудие или ищу позицию чтобы спрятать его за зданием, по 10-ти балльной системе поставлю ему 9 как для меня этот танк очень приятный/местами удобный из-за своего хорошего орудия, катаю на закалке/досыл/стаб

просто 0 понимания танка, продуй двигаться когда клоуз позиция чтобы сложнее было попасть в люк, играй от правой части корпуса скрывая люк за преградой, нет танк лт но как тт по подвижности, ебать экспертное мнение, в том же бою никто не выцеливал потому что он двигался, тут все это лт, говно на башне огромное я играю с закалкой, досылем и турбиной и мне в кайф двигается быстро из-за этого не попадают в башенку 2650 средуха

Говнотанк с 2 тортами на башни в которые ни кто ни когда не промахивается, ни как то ни как ст играть не может, мучаюсь сейчас на нем, 8-ка была топчик, ой это же не про 9-ку извиняюсь)))
