    I gave up ham radio when mobile phones came in. I came across these lessons and decided to catch on my CW. Nice calm voice to listen to. Ex I1KAX, HELEN, Italy.

    I am learning Morse code by myself and am getting by. However, I'd love to have a class like this nearby especially if it were taught by someone with your kind of background and great personality. _ _ ... ..._ _

    At 27:23 phrase it is practically impossible to distinguish spaces between words, they are the same as spaces between the letters… especially between “sim” and “in time”, it sounds like SIMIN TIME

    I missed the first part of the video, so maybe it was addressed ?
    But it sounds like they are learning at a higher speed than the typical 5 w.p.m. ?
    Which over the years, I have mentioned to friends, wondering if characters were sent, let's say at 20 w.p.m., then it would seem that's what your brain would recognize !
    Don't know if anyone has experimented with that or not, but sounds like this class is off to a good start !
    Something else I never looked for, was how long ago the class was being taught ?
    Hopefully recently !
    Many new Amateur Radio operators , seem to sell themselves short, when it comes to learning Morse code.
    Never giving themselves a chance to experience how much fun it can be, not to mention there are no longer language barriers, as through the Code, we are all one !
    '73 and GOD BLESS !

      Yeah. That’s called Farnsworth spacing. You send at a higher character speed, but leave more space between characters.
      It works is the space is within 5WPM but gets weird if you’re sending 25WPM characters at 5WPM
      I learned from Morse Whisperer at 10WPM characters spaced at 5WPM to get all my letters and numbers, then jumped onto Lockdown Morse who does 20WPM characters at 10WPM
      I’m currently using another couple of channels that have words and phrases at differing speeds. One excellent resource has speeds from 15WPM to 50WPM with 3x send. I can’t remember the name of the channel though

    Ok so can anyone tell me what do u do when u here the code? do u understand it simultaneously and write the letters on paper or u draw out all the dits and dahs along with hearing and then translate it later like me? which is the correct way??

    • @W4EEY
      @W4EEY  Год назад +1

      Correct would be to hear the sound and write down the letter. You want to translate the sound into a letter without thinking. This takes time. It is like learning a new language. Advanced operators don't hear letters - they hear complete words and prosigns and most don't even write them down. They copy everything in their head. That is a goal that not everyone can achieve. 73 de W4EEY
