@@Biggles83 hoorah, that's very lovely to hear! Thank you so much! And thank you very much about the bags too... you'll have to make some for your foreign adventures!
those are well tidy, military surplus is a great starting point and your mods have made them into proper panniers rather than bags, I bought some cheap 2nd hand leather ones years back that looked ridiculous with tassels and all sorts, took a knife to them and got rid of a lot of the rubbish, did a few mods and then sprayed them with rubberised paint, turned out pretty good and 100% waterproof, no need to spend a fortune, just a bit of thought and work and you can have something good and cheap
Thank you for sharing your life it's brilliant your so talented I know many who watch with me we put you on the big screen at our club again thanks keep sharing ❤❤❤
...... never stop being you in your vids. My take home message from this one was that anyone dropping in for a coffee should be careful about leaving any leather items etc. on backs of chairs as in the blink of an eye they will be chopped up and turned into straps 😊😊😊.
Enjoyed watching this vid as I’m a fellow biker DIYer and been making my own bike luggage and bags for years now. Got so fed up buying stuff that looked nice in photos but was expensive and substandard in the flesh. So self taught myself using a bit of RUclips, but mostly trial and error. You can buy complete veg tanned leather hides that you can cut, dye and treat as required. Takes a bit of patience, but there’s a great satisfaction in doing something yourself. I’ve noticed a few viewers saying they’d like to see some of my leather and canvas projects, so I’m hopefully going to be posting a vid in a couple of weeks of a warts and all sissy bar bag build along. Shout out to all those keeping the DIY generation alive. Great video S 👌
I always think it's nicest to make your own things...if one can! Then you get what you want. Or...you have fun trying. Good luck to you and thank you so much.
Nice one Sophia. 👍🏼👍🏼 You're going to end up with a fine pair of saddle bags, I'm sure. Are you going to make some sort of frame to mount them on ? Because you don't want them to get caught up in your rear wheel, that could lead to an accident of devastating proportions. Capacity is important when it comes to baggage, what are you going to do with them etc. Going shopping, means they have to fit a large sliced loaf of bread without crushing it into an unrecognizable mess. 🤔. Something that caught my eye and seems to be a good option, is to mount large metal ammo boxes onto a frame. I like the military look of those, plus they would be very weather proof. You cannot say that "no leatherwear was harmed during the making of this video". 😭 A pity because we'll never get to see the leather mini skirt now. 🤔🥵🧯 Ride Safe. 🏍
Well, thank you very much indeed, that's tremendously kind of you! And I've already got the frames on the bike. The ammunition boxes is a good idea...but those ones in the barn are all full of shells! (not sea shells)!! I don't mind bread being a bit squashed! But those are pretty capacious! And the leather mini skirts don't really suit the bike! But I do still have some leather dresses and skirts for when I'm dressing up!! It's lovely to hear from you... and you keep safe too!!
That's so very lovely of you!! Thank you so much. And yes, the magpie approves ...but, making them in the sitting room with things everywhere was far too temptingly exciting for him....he kept flying off with the straps I was making!
Good job they really suit the bike👌 I must admit that instructions often slow the job up or at worst completely confuse. Had to put a yoga headstand bench together the other day, two sides of A4 instructions for a few screws and captive nuts😂 Can we have some more of your music next time please? I can only find a couple on youtube. Very different songs and tempo. Perhaps you could put some more on. Cheers.
It sort of went wrong with this video... putting music to it. But yes, my next video will have more music...thank you for that. And, thank you very much for the pannier compliment!! I'm really excited to put them on the bike!!

I didn't see any of the cats being nosey...but that's the funny thing about recording in the barn... I've no idea what any of them are doing behind me. Yep, DIY creativity, the best - „because I can“. Think about additional straps to fix them on the bike (sides) and an metal distance holder, bend arc to hold the bags away from the pulley or suspension, or even exhaust.
I've already thought of how to do the straps to attach it to the frames (I've had the frames for years just sitting in the shed)...but that's the good thing about making the bags yourself, you can make them attach any way you like and it will be more effective than off the shelf ones. Thank you so much!
