  • Take a look at some of the changes coming to George Bush Intercontinental Airport, IAH.
The IAH Terminal Redevelopment Program, ITRP, will provide tremendous economic growth, and environmental and social benefits, to Houston’s traveling public and residents. ITRP is on track to deliver within the $1.3 billion budget established in 2019 and on time with substantial completion landing in 2024.
The new international terminal complex will accommodate operations for 15+ foreign flag airlines and United Airlines’ international service. New gates will accommodate international growth from the ever-increasing local and traveling passenger demand and meet the needs of our air carriers’ increase in flights - all while greatly improving the customer experience. The completion of ITRP will deliver all new facilities and refresh aged spaces allowing Bush Airport to maintain world-class service and continue to be highly competitive with airports of similar size.

For those who are ignoring the rapid growth of Houston, you'll need to wake up. Our city is gaining a such diverse population that eventually we'll need a state of the are airports to accommodate and mitigate the volume and diverse clientele. And now the world cup is coming to our city, IAH needs to get busy now.

2:52 That pickup or dropoff location looks like a nightmare. There must be like 10-12 lanes in that model. 💀

This project will set an incentive to give DFW a run for their money. Can’t wait for this project to shine.

Yes I've noticed there aren't many direct flights to Europe. It looks like there are only direct flights to France, Germany, UK, and Netherlands and none to the other 40 European countries.

@@Anurania IAH is becoming worse every year 2 weeks ago our family came back from a 17 hour flight from Dubai just to find out that ALL ARRIVALS were shifted to Terminal E, making it more crowded than it already was.

@@Armanii2795 It does seem worse every time. I haven't traveled since last year but back then we arrived on a similarly long flight and the pick up area outside was crowded with thousands of people. The Uber app was completely broken. It couldn't schedule a ride at all with so much demand, so we just started walking along Will Clayton hoping to get a ride from somewhere less busy and ended up having to walk a couple of miles to get outside of the airport boundary. That road is not walkable especially with suitcases. We had to walk through wet grass and run across 50mph traffic in the dark. It wasn't fun after traveling all day.

Frankly don't hold your breath of seeing a great deal more int’l service here in the near future. From what I understand, UA has shelved any int’l expansion from IAH, until all projects are complete. As for carriers like Etihad and others….why would they entertain the idea of an IAH route? Houston is already well covered by Emirates Turkish and Qatar. Houston is not a leisure destination, frankly I don't recall ever meeting anyone ever really wanted to visit Houston. DFW and AUS will likely be the main int’l gateways to Texas going forward, both are expanding int’l ops rapidly, while IAH languishes.

Interesting but where is the green technology in here. They could be putting metro bus lines through the airport instead of encouraging people to drive to the airport or better yet have a train line to the airport like many other cities. The city really needs to make it better accessible instead of everyone driving to it. Imagine dropping people off at train stations across the city to go to the airport. We don't need to expand roadways to allow for cars when we could limit it by having better transportation link to the airport instead. Finally they could put solar panels all over the airport and make it be off the grid and self sufficient in its energy needs. Come on Houston, still appsasing to the private developers, oil and gas sector and the car industry. It's definitely not a people oriented airport or city. Look at Doha, Atlanta and Denver for example.

The only issue is Houston is horrible in civil engineering... the roads to and from IAH have gotten a little bit better (paving Greens Road for instance). I-45 to the inner loop is a disaster from 1945 with accidents happening all the time simply because it's a 55mph highway with ups and downs to feeder roads.

An international terminal with a dwindling number of carriers, brilliant use of taxpayers money for a White Elephant. IAH, is losing carriers left and right, Ethiopian, EVA, Air China (never mind), Air New Zealand, gone and likely not coming back, the others have yet to return to a full schedule or are using smaller aircraft, Emirates will not bring back the A380. You really should be out trying to get more carriers, frankly, the original ‘D’ is just fine the way it it is.

You need to check your facts again. EVA is starting next month along with Air New Zealand. They just added Caribbean airlines. No one in the US is flying air china until it gets clearance and IAH is on the list for its return. As far as the A380 it’s going to return on a limited basis.
