Tip: Learn the Heimlich Maneuver and CPR before babysitting. This can help save someone in an emergency of choking and unconsciousness.

I’m almost 28 and the interest of babysitting has grown in me. I almost had a chance to babysit but a couple families denied me, due to no experience nor certifications. So… I think I’ll take that one course or two so I can become certified! I’d love to babysit kids, play with them, and do things needed around the house (like cleaning). There’s no better feeling that wanting to do things out of love. 🙏🏼❤️

I first babysat a baby when I was 12, it went horribly… but, after I watched your video me and the baby had the best time! Me and my bestie are both babysitting together! It went great! tysm for the advice!✌️
I started kid sitting at 12, I’m now 48, and recently started sitting again… I’ve also employed babysitters and kid sitters to look after my own children over the past years, my boys are now 15 and 19 and themselves sometimes do kid sitting.

i’m 14 and for the past 4-5 years i’ve babysat my nieces and my nephew a ton, i can change diapers, make bottles, everything ive done it all lol. do you think including that will help me land gigs for babysitting?

I’m 12 and I wanna start babysitting and you know, I’m really good with babies . I get that some parents won’t let me baby sit their little one but I’m also good with 2-3 year olds.

If you want that's great I don't want to discourage you but you don't have to work, you are still a child and having that time to focus on school and free time helps your development. You will have your whole life to work so don't rush it!

I want to start babysitting soon (I’m 13) so I’m looking into getting certified somewhere. I’m confident in being responsible with the kids, I know when I was little and I was left with a babysitter, before bed she read me multiple scary stories ( Bloody Mary, etc. ). I’m not good with anything scary and it honestly still scares me today.
My neighborhood has a lot of little ones, but I don’t really know anybody. Do you think it’s possible to still get jobs even as a stranger?
I also don't really know much people who need a babysitter. I heard from my mom that a friend of hers needed one so yeah that's how I went babysitting :)
That is horrible that your babysitter did that to you. We as babysitters are supposed to make kids feel safe.
I think that if your neighborhood has kids that you can possible sit for then you need to start meeting your neighbors. Go for a walk or a bike ride when you see a bunch of them outside playing and introduce yourself to the parents. Le them know you live down the street and you are a babysitter if they should ever need one.
That's the best way to start Jolien. Have your mom introduce you to her friends and co-workers who have kids.

So I need help with pricing. I will babysit for 3 children for 4-5 hours on Saturday evening. The oldest is 6, the middle is 3, and the youngest just turned one. I never babysat for this family, also I never babysat 3 children at once. I started babysitting about 10 months ago, so I have almost a year of experience. I'm also 14. I usually babysit only for one child, sometime for 2. The average in my state in $14 per hour, how much should I charge?
I think you should charge the average and raise you rate once you become CPR certified and as you gain more experience over the years. Great question!

Hi,
Have you tried to find jobs within your community by going through a community center or a church or maybe an after school program that ends at 6pm and parents need a sitter for later than that? You will need to a little bit of advertising for yourself to get the word out. BUT, do it safely. Don't advertise or take jobs from people that you have no connection with, meaning if you go through a community center get to know the people who work there first same with church and the after school programs.

Ahh I'm a little nervous. I'm 13 and next month I'm going to be babysitting two boys (well the mom is going to be somewhere else for the 3-week yr) I babysit my cousins but I'm nervous because I've never babysat someone who I don't know or haven't talked to much. Im not sure like what will happen when I walk in or what Im able to do like how much control I have over them.
it’s ok to be nervous! i think something to help with the nervousness is to interview the parents beforehand and ask them questions about the job! look up “family interview form for babysitting” and there should be a good amount of those to choose from to print. i think lydia has a link to one in her babysitting binder video. when you walk in, get down on the kids level and introduce yourself! when the parents leave, find something to do with the kids, and i think as long as they’re busy and having fun, you don’t have much to worry about. hope this helps!

@@nttzwkk4970 My mom just got asked from a friend I would start advertising orally and asking your friends with younger kids to babysit for experience also if you don't have a training parents like it better if you have it so if you don't ask your parent to go to a day class

I got an offer to babysit my moms coworkers little girl (7 or 8) but i don’t have a certification so what do they teach at the places that have babysitter certifications? I’m 12 almost 13 and I really want to accept the offer but i’m not sure if i need a certificate or not and if it would be ok for me to babysit without any certificate. I know how to do cpr and what to do if the kid has any allergic reactions and i know to keep them in my sight and make sure they don’t get ahold of any sharp objects or any guns and to keep them away from hot objects, but is there anything else i need to know that would need to be taught to me?
Yes you can babysit without getting any type of certificate. I just suggest that you get your CPR certification and to take a babysitting course if you can. There are no official requirements to babysit.

why cant u put flyers if its like an email for baby sitting and not other things
You can do flyers but if someone calls or emails you from that flyer, make sure you have a parent or guardian help you check them out. You don't want to go to a complete strangers house. You will want to meet them and the kids in a public place first so you get a good feel for what they are like. Thank you so much for watching the video.

Well.. Your underage.. No one Will hire u because your not a adult maybe a family memebr that lets u watch there kids ask them for a payment when babysitting them
Hi Audrey, I'm sorry that it's been hard for you to find any jobs but you just have to keep at it. Tell everyone you know that you are interested in babysitting and that you are certified. Ask those you know with kids if you can come over and just play with the kids while the parent is home to give them a break that way they can see how you do with the kids. Sometimes it is not easy but once you get your first job the others will follow.
Hi Nora, I don't think that 12 is too young. It all depends on maturity level. I know a lot of 12 year olds who babysit and I myself started at 12. It can be done you just have to show you are responsible.

Im 12 and the average in my state is $14.25 an hour not a chance am I charging that or more I was thinking like $8 an hour
what state do you live in?
It is alway good to know what the going rate is. You should never feel like you are not worthy of the going rate, cause you are. BUT, it is perfectly ok for you to ask for whatever you feel comfortable asking for. You deserve it!

Hi! I have my team take the Red Cross adult and infant first aid/CPR and AED course. As far a a babysitting course, you’ll have to do some research for what your area has!

@@matxaka3393 most of them are not. the online american red cross course that i took was 45 dollars and the safe sitter course i took was 55. they are pretty pricey but in my opinion, they’re worth it.

Oddly enough I have never seen those movies! However I do believe that when poster flyers you have to be very careful about where you are putting them and what info you are giving out to the public!

I think i am going to be a babysitter i love babysitting todlers. Is 8 a good age to start babysitting.
8 is a bit young I’ve babysat just as much 8 year olds as toddlers it depends on maturity but personally I think 8 is a bit young, you should probably know CPR and what to do during allergic reactions, and oh so much more. personally I wouldn’t even leave an 8 year old home alone If you want to babysit early you could try being a mothers helper (this means helping out with the kid when the parents are home, they could be working, or just need a break) which means you can tell the parents if you need something. I still think 8 is a bit to young for this but you can try. You could probably try to start babysitting at 11 or 12. Thanks for reading my essay of a comment and good luck!😉

Not necessarily! Some families have their oldest child help while others don’t put the responsibility on them. With that being said, family responds differently to you asking them to do something than when you’re asking children who don’t know you to do something. Being a mother’s helper is about gaining experience with diffrent ages and diffrent family dynamics!
