@Holidayhome-spain you are never homeless with children. You don't see young children or babies sleeping in door way of shops, factories or park benches. Bed and breakfast, accommodation is a roof over their head. Food banks, and food share provides them with food, including benefits. No mater how small it is. It maybe not ideal to be living n bed and breakfast Or hostel, but real homelessness is sleeping rough under the stars, cold without any shelter at all.
You go to Syria gazza Ukraine, these war zones you see real homelessness and children sleeping g rough. It doesn't stop humans having children, maybe one or two.
Maybe people don't want to bring a child in the world where it's on the brink of world wars, corruption etc Hell, even if that was not a fact, then the cost of living, childcare etc are the next issue.
There is also an increase in fertility problems. My daughter had 9 miscarriages and was 30 by the time she managed to get to full term, she does now have 2, her best friend had to have IVF and again is in her early 30s now and has recently had 2 children and my daughters sister in law had to have IVF and is now in her mid 30's and finally had a baby. I never heard this to this extent in my day.
Sure, I'll have 3 kids for you - if you make houses and a life affordable on a single full-time wage again. Until then, nope. You'll just have to revise the pension system otherwise. Or, y'know, maybe we could venture away from capitalism that is entirely dependant on endless growth for another economic system. But oh no, the millionaires and billionaires won't like that, will they?
Boomers enjoyed significantly more affordable living. Housing prices skyrocketed by 6,900%, while rents increased by 6,500%. Utility costs surged by 2,000-3,000%, and food prices rose by 1,100% (e.g., bread). Tuition fees, which only started in the late 1990s, have increased by 800% since their introduction. Job security was higher, with many benefiting from stable, long-term employment and generous pensions. Transport costs also rose, with fuel and fares increasing faster than wages.
People moan & normally blame women solely on having kids because they prob can’t afford it & if the guy leaves they get all the blame for needing to claim benefits & now pressure is that there aren’t enough babies being born. Silly
UK us becoming a third world. Having more children will increase problems. Two or three children quite enough if you can afford it. Population In creased by migration not having more children.
Why cant we just accept the fact that people dont want children, simply because they dont.why does there need to be a reason or a solution.and since when do you have children just to boost the countries economy, child birth is for passing on your genes, keeping the population going ,and for some it's simply keeping there name going. But now it's have babies for the economy.
Poor housing , highest childcare costs in the eu , ridiculous maternity pay and parental leave - and this is someone who has just had there first child 😅
Also, many working-class women no longer want working-class men, therefore they're trying to date up but men in a higher class don't want them. How many women want an average earning man?
Most just want guys that are nice & respectful & actually want relationships instead of messing around with multiple other girls on the go, but tuff chance of that these days or ever. You’d have more chance finding a needle in a haystack. That’s why most women just don’t bother anymore
@Whitebunny-np4ln Depends on the type of men one attracts. If a woman is only attracting losers and deadbeats then she needs to self reflect on why this is. My female friends are married to men who are loving, respectful and high earning. What did they do differently to attract these quality men?
@@theukeconomist6518 I think it just mainly comes down to right timing & a lot of luck. Some people just seem to get it so easy, find someone straight away who also feels the same & that’s that. Other people just find it so hard & mission impossible. I think it’s best for anyone (male or female) to always mainly focus on being happy by themselves & get more confidence & self esteem without a partner as being desperate for someone only really leads to disappointment, as it does make you pick the wrong people. Easier said than done tho, lol. I’ve been there & it’s really horrible
@Whitebunny-np4ln Great response 👍. Why don't you conduct a social experiment, ask single women in your social circle what their ideal husband would be like, and you'll realise they're describing a 1% man earning well over 200k.
@@theukeconomist6518 I don’t really know any women whom have gone after a man just because of his money tho. Not saying that those women don’t exist as I’m sure that they do, but all the women I’ve known have just gone after men because they really fancy them or they just want someone they think is nice to have a family with, lol. A lot do choose bad by picking men that are unemployed & scrounge off them.
People contribute to their pensions through taxes and National Insurance, however pensions are not like savings accounts where your contributions are stored away for your future. Instead, the money you pay now is used to fund current pensioners. This is called a 'pay-as-you-go' system, and it relies on a strong, working population to keep it running. If there aren’t enough younger people in the workforce to pay taxes, the government can’t collect enough revenue to sustain public services like pensions, healthcare, and infrastructure. A shrinking labour force means less tax income, which could lead to higher taxes, reduced pension payouts, or cuts to other essential services. Today's workers support today's pensioners, just as today's pensioners supported the generation before them when they were working. This is why a declining birth rate and workforce is a real problem.
The problem is if people lose their job there is a cap on how much support you get for your children no matter how much tax you pay, they need to lift the 2 child cap.
Simple solution, the government should stop with the economic growth bullshit and focus on the management of the country. What use is continual growth when it isnt managed correctly?
No. Having children doesn't mean that your children will look after youz, when you re older. Encouraging people to have more children will cause problems financially. Eg.benefits increases. No work ethnics.
So employers would be expected to pick up the bill? Maybe its more to do with the cost of living and the ever increasing demand, and therefore cost, of housing?
Socialism media, dating apps and the decline in social gathering places such as pubs are mostly to blame for this. Increasing parental leave is going to do nothing. The problem is much deeper
How about if the taxes and NI contributions we pay are used and saved for the things that they are meant to be used for 😤😤😤 instead of wasted on countless stupid things that we dont need!
I would happily have another child, if I could afford to live with my partner who looked after the second at home. Not have to pay childcare or was affordable. Then if we want to upgrade to fit more children, we would need to move or buy a bigger house, which again, is not possible. So you can say other countries are seeing this issue without child care costs as high as the UK, but it's not one simple change there are a multitude of changes that need to help.
Lower taxes that might be a start. Also spending money on the people/infrastructure in this country. Maybe having a political party that wants to help people get on in life.
The tax payer does fund families. I know someone who works, both parents work and they get a top up of 2k per month tax credits !!!!........thats more than you need. I don't agree with you, why should you get free childcare, why should the tax payer fund that, especially tax payers that have chosen not to have children. Its a choice you make. I had a child at 34 when I could afford it and support myself ! We cannot always have what we wont !! That's life. Years ago they had lots of children and never expected anything from the state.
@ it’s because people use finance as excuse to not have children so if state helped maybe they will Have kids if we carry on not having kids this country will be in big trouble
This is why need people coming into the country to work. Who is going to take care of a huge aging population. Even though I’d have liked children at 38 I have made the decision I won’t have any. I just can’t afford it and I want an easy life.
People not having kids anymore because they Don't own a house and they busy paying rent. No one wants to be homeless with children so people choose to be homeless on their own without kifs😂😂😂🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
I dont thi k people should have more children. Governments must find other ways to provide pensions. Perhaps people should,d pay into a fund for their pensions.
The NHS maternity wards are FULL of women having babies! Some midwives are delivering nineteen babies a day, sometimes alone or with little assistance. This explains issues with maternity care and why so many British midwives are emigrating. Therefore there are babies being born in the UK, but where are they? Stop treating women and mothers as second class citizens and APPRECIATE THE VALUE TO COST OF CARING FOR CHILDREN! Stop moaning about childcare which the babyboomers never had and still had expenses mortgages and low wages and yes, so easy for men to tell women to have more children when it's not men who put their bodies through pregnancy and in the main the WOMEN are the childcare providers 24/7 but now told you can have it all providing someone on low pay ( usually women) ars caring for other people's children! And blame the Labour government for the low birthrate! In the 60s and 70s, BRITISH WOMEN in low income households were told when they wanted to claim welfare for more than one child; to take the NEW HORMONE CONTRACEPTIVE PILL, or NO WELFARE! Utter disgrace to British women, used as tests for it! Can you imagine saying that to women now!
Well the life has got so busy that managing kids the busy lifestyle where company expect more of your time has become crazy. Also, instability in job also makes parents nerves to have kids. 1 help the government is to make day care totally free. The funding should be enough that the day care shouldn't charge the parents on top.
Maybe alot of people are worried about having children with ADHD. I’m sure it increases with each generation. Parents struggle to get diagnosis and sometimes help. Most of people I know their Grandchildren have ADHD. Making sure your child has the need to develop, childcare etc is expensive.
I wouldn't say it's a single point as to why people are not having more children. It's more to do with the costs associated with bringing up a child in this day and age.
More to do with two generations told they can have it all! The world's their oyster. Be citizens of anywhere and contribute to nowhere! Told they can have it all, but without the grandparents or should I say grandmothers( many Waspies and made to work to be make men from other countries more equal) or other people, usually WOMEN on very low pay looking after their children, they cannot have their careers and hobbies and freedom to have it all, to include having it all, in the gift of children 24/7!
There will be more children as more immigrants come . White men know what it's like to have kids with white women and to live with them so it's declining.. as white men head to the east and Asia the English women will have kids with migrants . Problem solved. We know how accomodating white English women are.
We know bed and breakfast is temporary, but they still have a roof over their head. They are not sleeping outdoors under the stars. Forever, as it lasts. That's the real homelessness. Children will always have a roof over their heads..so having a child will prevent sleeping on the streets. There shouldn't be homelessness for anyone, but not like the victoriana era where young children were o. The streets,, with their families or go into work house where families were separated Having more children will not solve anything, just increase problems..
I think you also have to accept some women and men just do not want children! I knew i did not want them form an early age, and i never did change my mind! I had a wonderful childhood, could not have asked for better parents, and they kept to their word, they saved and saved and planned, went without luxuries, very sensible with their money, all to leave me a very decent amount of money and their house, and mine, as mine was not put in my name when Dad purchased it for me, as did not want any bloke coming in taking half!! Wise man my Dad, lost him years ago, and just lost my wonderful mum last year at the age of 94! Not everyone is crazy about having kids, people need to accept that!
