One of the best UE4 physics tutorial I've ever seen.
    Thank you, sir.

This is extremely helpful, thank you! There should definitely be something like this video in the UE4 docs showing which axes to lock to make these real-world joints out of the engine's generic constraint.

I agree, physics documentation is very scarce in UE.

19:30 in order to make it Twist or swing like you would exepect, you should change the oriemtation of your constraint acording to your objects

Hi there Lusiogenic, great tutorial series, love it!
With all physics, no matter what we try to lock/dampen/constraint, we are always able to move along the locked axis if we push the object too far. Is there a way to completely lock the other axes that should not move/rotate? The obvious "lock" in the physics asset is not doing the trick, nor all the constraints we set.

Your explanation of game engine joints are the best I have ever seen. I any chance you could also explain the joints in Unity as well?

    • @Lusiogenic

      Thank you!
I have worked with Unity a long time ago, but I can't say I'll be revisiting it. I'm guessing the constraints should function in a very similar manner.

You explained things very clearly, but for some reason it does not work in VR without an intermediary. A stick or bullet, or something. If I se it up the way you have it, and shoot it, or hit it with a stick, it reacts as expected. If I grab anything, it has a different affect.
For instance, I have a lever that has 2 parts. A base (that I want locked) and a stick, which I want to rotate at the base. If I have Constraints locked in XYZ for Position, on both the Base and the Stick, the stick still pulls away when I grab it. I have to put a value in Inertia Tensor Scale XYZ to get it to lock to the base (not sure why).
Can you explain how to make a lever, and have some resistance on the movement?

    Question:
    You have Cube1 and Cube2.
If you want to move (through BP) Cube1, how would you do that?
Say... you want this thing to move out of the way, after the player has moved the slider. Player slides the handle, and then the whole door moves up, or something.
It seems UE4 pulls the objects out of the hirarchy when they are attached to a Physics Constraint, so their original parent's movement has no affect on them.

Thanks by class! Can I download this template? I need this mouse interaction. I try to use the Unreal Template "ContentExamples/Physics" but only the objects in the original template can be moved, my objetcs moves only if I use other object to move him, but the mouse interaction not works.

Say, how would I change the direction of a physics object more quickly? Rather then it slowing down by adding force over time is there another way to make the sudden changing of direction quicker but without effecting the added force over time? Not sure if I made that clear but, in this case, I am rotating an object around a central axis using a physics constraint, but I want the changing of direction to be a bit more responsive. Right now, it slowly slows down before changing directions.

I used the linear join concept, to make a landing gear for a spaceship.
It is basically a leg that has suspension. Very simple. At first glance it works fine. But doing some tests I discovered a strange error:
the landing gear disappears when the ship is oriented in a particular direction.
For example, if the nose of the ship is to the east, everything is fine, but if you point it to the south, the landing gear leg (which has the physical constraint) disappears. (?wtf?)
Even weirder is that this doesn't happen on the map I have for testing.
I have no idea what is happening.

Hi all. Ive been messing around with this tutorial but I cannot get the objects to interact with the collision boxes set up on the VR pawn. Anyone have an idea how to do this or if its even possible? I can add a grab component but it just grabs the object and allows it to move around freely then snaps back to its original position when I let go. Any help would be appreciated thanks

The thing is that I'm trying to make what I do here my day job. Since I've just recently set up a donation page, I'm expecting very little revenue to come from there.
So, the more immediate solution is to make an asset pack of some sort and sell it on the marketplace.
The user would then be able to choose if they wanted to follow the tutorials or buy the ready-made assets.
