- We're finally done with the outside wall. Definitely huge improvement from where it was before!
As always your support and feedback is SO appreciated. The next few weeks of videos will have lots going on, and hopefully this will lead up to a lot of progress for the house and land over the Summer. Hearing your thoughts on things is always a lovely boost and motivation.
Morrigan's Cottage is a 200 year old traditional stone cottage set in the west of Ireland on just under 4 acres. Originally this house would have been used by the local farmers, rented from their British landlords. Dated back to at least the early 1800s, someone has been consistently living here and farming this land since then, up until about 4 years ago when the house was left vacant by the previous owners.

Love the horse heads on the wall..the garden looks beautiful..and your nosy neighbors are perfect company🐄🐄🥰
The cows really are lovely company! And the horse heads are nice I’ll definitely be keeping them 💚
I read the headline wrong, I thought it said we are done making improvements, I thought you were giving up! So glad you are not, the place looks really great.
Sometimes it feels like I should give up 😂 thanks so much! I’m really happy with it!
Aisling look at your weather chart for toninght you might be able to see the Aurora that you missed last time, Tonight between 9 and 2 Good luck, xxx Dede
Thank you so much for the heads up Dede!! I will keep and eye out ❤️❤️ thank you for thinking of me!!
Its easy to see that you really put in a lot of hard work with the grass and painting and then you must be so tired then driving home for 2 hours. Am glad you wear a hat and sunscreen as you're so fair, better safe than sorry and as for the Puppy content, soooooo, sooooo cute. Furriest hugs to you gals.
Ah thank you I really appreciate the kind feedback 💚 tis some hard work but slowly getting there! The puppies are just adorable! they make for a nice light moment! Hope you and Mr. F are both well 💚💚💚
I hope one day you can get a riding lawn mower, looking at all you mow now, makes my back hurt. lol, everything is coming along so nicely, You should be very proud of yourself.
I will definitely need a ride on lawn mower, there’s no way I can maintain it all with out! Thank you so much for the kind words 💚
Oh what a difference the paint makes - how satisfying 🥰🥰🥰
It really does make a huge difference! 💚
Well done the walls look great ,your chicken field is looking great too ,you are on your own and keeping it under control ,well done ,it must be such hard work for you ,puppies look happy ,have a rest from the house , my grandsons not born yet 9 days ,time unless he pops out b4 c sect bbooking xx have a rest xx
It must be so exciting waiting for your new grandson to come 💚 I can’t wait for you!! 💚
Love your plans for the homestead, it's a wonderful vision you have, Aisling. I love cows too 🐄 but then I'm a vegetarian so it makes sense 😂. Laughed re your wall not looking British 🇬🇧 it looks fantastic, btw. Hugs to you and the girls, Kizzy says hi to Bainne ❤
Bainne says hi back to you and Kizzy 💚 as do Morri and I! I definitely felt having blue white and red might be too British or American 😂 so I may avoid the red 😂 love having the cows close by too! I was a vegetarian for years as well, but I’ve fallen off it a bit in the last year, I need to get more strict again, pesky chicken balls from the Chinese just tempt me so badly! 💚
Look at making your shutters from wood. It's cheaper than store bought. Maybe you can locate a picture of the original shutters.
I’ll definitely be checking with the neighbours if they have any old photos! I’ll have to look into making them, I’m not sure if I’m skilled enough to make good ones but I’ll always give it a shot!
Irresistible puppy belly😅
Omg as soon as you see the bellies you have to scratch it’s the rule!!
When can you move in?
It would seem not any time soon… the county council for the area I live in are really far behind processing things so I literally have no clue - I’m very frustrated 😂
"The judgy neighbours" 😂 I know exactly the type - I have them next door too. They are always unimpressed by the work I do on the other side of the fence😅
Those pesky neighbours, always judging and never lending a hand (or hoof) 😂😂
Just wondering what part of Ireland 🇮🇪 are you in
I’m over at the mayo/roscommon border!
@@morrigans_cottage nice part of the country
@@NAn-r9i it really is!
I think the grey of the metall and of the horses looks good with the blue and white…i would leave it as it is for now at least and only paint this metall front gate / door that seem to have another colour in white…love your channel❤
Thank you so much for the kind feedback, I’m glad you’re enjoying! I think maybe you’re right that the gate should stay as is - I am hoping in the future to get nice wooden gates in so may as well not waste money on this gate! 💚
Before planting trees near your boundary lines, get advice on how far back from the boundary the trees should be planted. If you plant right on the line, the trees will spread several feet onto your neighbors property. If there are fences along the property line, you don’t want a situation where trees are spreading into the fence line.
That’s a really good tip thank you! I never would have thought about that! I know on one side I’m good, as my physical boundary is about 2m back from the actual owned property line and there’s just a small road beside, but I’ll definitely be careful on the line I share with my neighbours!
The fence is looking great painted! It looks like someone loves the place again 💙 I loved hearing about your plans for planting hedgerows along your borders. Bare root planting time is late winter, before the buds begin to break into leaf and blossom in early spring 🌸
Thank you for the tips on planting! I still have a fair bit of time before I need to get on it which is great gives me some time to really plan! I’m glad you like the wall too, it definitely makes the place look a little loved 💚
Your wall looks absolutely lovely. What a trooper you’ve been with maintaining your huge lot. 😊
Thank you so much! I really appreciate that! 💚
Complete transformation, lovely job Aisling, it does look smart. When the Cottage is painted it will tie in nicely. You should be able to pick up shutters from a reclaim yard if you have any nearby. Also I love the idea of a tree line to give you your own private Eden away from the madness. Wonderful to see how excited Morrigan was to see the cows, she really is a joy. Puppies are doing well.❤😊
Morri really is the best girl, and she loves seeing all the animals! She unfortunately doesn’t love her puppy siblings 😂 I’ll definitely be checking reclaim places for the shutters! Hope you’re having a lovely weekend 💚
Love, love, love the flamingo hat ❤
The cinematic pics at the beginning were so lovely, setting a mood.
The finished wall makes it look loved ❤ the horse heads in a light charcoal would be nice and sunny yellow gates and some sunflowers planted along fenceline ❤🌻❤
Have you considered getting an overhead shot so you can mark out fields/gardens and structures? Or just doing a drawing?
When you hit that wall, its definitely time to stop.
I missed the names of the adoptees?
Stop I love the flamingo hat too altho I am aware of how silly I look! I’m glad you liked the shots at the beginning too, I want to try do a little more of that! Light charcoal would be so nice for the heads, and bright yellow would be cute too! Definitely need sun flowers!!
I would love to get a cheap drone to take overhead shots but at the moment money is better spent elsewhere which makes me sad 😂 and the pups are Charlie and Rosie! Charlie is now with his forever family and has been renamed Sam/samhain, and Rosie is with us forever!
Great plans. You had a very busy weekend and it shows. The wall looks so good and I'm sure when you drive up to your cottage you could just pinch yourself!
I have found that livestock make the best neighbors. Take care
It’s so nice coming up the road and seeing the new walls! It definitely looks cheerier than before! And I love having the animals so close by!
The wall looks great. Can you believe how much you've gotten done...I mean really! Good job
Thank you! Some days it feels like a losing battle (it’s been a hard 2 weekends at the house lots of problems) so it’s nice to get one thing finished! Thank you so much for the kind feedback 💚
Hello Morrigan's Cottage the wall looks beautiful and the colors are blue and white great together
💙🤍 thanks you so much for sharing with us all ✨️
Thank you so much for joining us on the journey! The positive and thoughtful comments definitely make the harder moments less hard 💚💚💚
Don't throw those gates away. They are yseful for other things believe me. You have it looking gorgeous.
I’ll definitely keep the gates! They’ll just be moved further down the land to the fields :)
The irish skys are the most beautiful 💚 so many beautiful cloud formations.
The skies really do look amazing! When we’re treated to something other thank grey skies they really impress!
Love the wall, it makes a huge difference to the place 😊 A silly question.. did you call Morrigan after the Irish Pagan goddess’The Morrigan’ ? The puppies are so adorable 🥰
Yes! Morri is named after the Morrigan! I love the old Irish lore and the Morrigan was such a strong and interesting figure !
Those pups are adorable!
Aren’t they just! We love them both so much!
