Remember for you budget guy there are some great junkyard/ budget oem injectors, some Volvos use 41 lbs injectors and bigger, 8.1 have a little bigger injectors, you can decap some stock truck injectors, a friend of mine is running 2 junkyard fuel pumps and decapped Volvo injectors, most 1/2 hard line some spots are still 3/8s and is making close to 700
@@youngbuckrefrigeration716 I’m not sure but sloppy mechanics has a video on deccaping stock injectors to gain about 100% fuel flow, the idea is you get 2 good sets of injectors decap them all and then send them out to get Them flow matched
I’d love to see 4.8, 5.3 and 6.0 graphs with identical cam and turbo layed out next to each other. It would be an obvious illustration of what displacement is doing on the same setup.
Hi, hope all is well. Video idea. Compare the BTR truck Norris cam…. With the NSR Truck Norris cam…but don’t upgrade the springs on the NSR cam…. Also maybe compare other NSR cams w stock springs.
thanks for answering questions even in the first 2 minutes, I also loved all your old articles in muscle mustangs and fast Fords! Is the new 7.3 gas motor something to be excited about?
Hey Richard could we do a dyno result test on the old school cool cans. May I on fuel injected and carbed, ice vs dry ice. I seen allot of conflicting information on this topic. Btw ur vids are the best!
@@408SPLKINGS I gap cast piston at 7tho per inch forged at 8.5 tho per inch also make the a bit extra especially for 26xx and the stronger more ductile pistons have higher expansion ratios this is way they get a lot of slap when cold. Fairly new to watching your videos, would higher compression make a drastic power difference? Bacially doing same setup on a 6L but running at 10.3:1 comp?
Yeah, it's gonna make more power with more compression. Adding boost is the equivalent of adding more compression, so you will need less boost to get the same output as the guy with less compeession

Hey Richard, I am starting a build, it currently has a low mileage 4.8L. I ultimately just want a nasty little street truck, but i also have a l92 and 6l80 that i was thinking on swapping but both engine and tranny will need to be rebuilt because its higher mileage. Any recommendations? I think 600hp at the wheels would be a reasonable goal for street use, but would want the ability to crank it up if needs be.
a 6.2l would be aluminum and bigger so I would pick that if the price is the same (usually not the case), but most would pick the cheapest route to make an easy 600 hp (that would be the 4.8L or 5.3l)
Id like to see this same test with the same engine setup but with different brand turbos. Say what are the results with an ebay gt45, on3 gt45 and such. How the quality of the turbo plays a factor in the boost level vs the power and torque. "Cheap turbo makes 10 psi @ 5500 rpm vs higher end turbo makes 10 psi @ 2000 rpms" Also do it with ball bearing vs journal bearing. ($100 vs $500 vs $2000 turbo) is the "you get what you pay for" worth it... you see alot of twin gt35s and gt45s in the LS community but is it really worth it to go cheaper or spend the extra few hundred for the name brand and size it better to the setup say a 76/75 vs the gt45.
@@richardholdener1727 I was just saying 10 psi as a reference. Basically what are the results with a higher end turbo vs cheap and bb vs journal bearing. If you put a manual boost controller on it how quick do they "light up" at the set psi and how effective is the power and torque curve. In a nut shell what to small of a turbo would do and what an over sized turbo would do to the setup.

You should revisit this with a true divided hotside to show the improved boost response.
