Well done Chief. Love to hear the stories. I have a son that was a Chief in the US Navy, he’s retired now, but like your’s, I love his Sea Stories. Carry on, Sir (yes, l know, but it’s in the form of respect), and thank you for your service.
You're absolutely spot on with the state of our youth. We're about the same age, certainly the same generation and I'm with you when I say, "The biggest mistake we've made is listening to and tolerating the mamby pamby bs about how much credence we give to how subordinates feel. When I came up, nobody gave a tinker's damn about how I "felt." They kicked me in the pants when I needed it and thanked me when I managed to get it right. I figured a hearty thank you was way better than a kick in the pants, so I figured it out. We could do ourselves a favor by knocking off the participation trophies and getting back to getting sh$! done. Thanks for sharing this, Skip!
You never know what you're gonna hear or who you're gonna see on youtube these days! BMC Pollards' form of leadership helped guide me to the life I enjoy today. Owner of a successful marine construction business! It's great to see and hear from you Chief.
Great story, 28 years later I still know the SA’s name you speak of! I was the only FA. Mess cooked for 9 months every other month and never said a peep! My MK2 told me when I got on that ship(shut up, listen, and let your work speak for yourself) good advice I still pass along to this day!!
as a 17 year old i worked on canadian bouy tender, in the Bay of Fundy, my job was to stand 4 feet above deck and pull up on the winch lines when the winchman let out line. first time we swung sinker over the side and bosun cut lin holding sinker to the hook, well well well i was not ready for what what happened, that chain going over the side, sparks flying and chain dancing back and forth on the deck, i thought i was in hell ha ha, that was 45 years ago. you take care chief
Thank you so much for sharing! It was definitely an experience to serve on one and for many, a benchmark for life. No make what you’re doing right now, I could always be worse 😂 Thanks again!
