When they do a count down/up in the beginning of a vid, that's for the editors to sync the video and audio together. They record both at the same time, but on different devices/software that are not linked together until the editor makes the video for us. It's like using a microphone for audio and a camera for video. . . . except that's exactly what they are doing (especially for face cam). Cameras don't inherently have audio recording devices built into them. And, microphones can't inherently record video. Make sense?

The last seconds of the video have audio because they are talking into the mics. The security footage does not record audio, or they would include it. They showed what video AND audio they had, which is why it cut before that moment. I think.

To his credit though, Matt is right. It’s not really random. The spawn of entities in Mario is based on the position of the player. That’s how Tool-Assisted Speedruns are able to get past every random part of the game. They force the “random” element to be the same every time.
A die roll is based on the physics of how the die interacts with the surface after being thrown. But still, it's unpredictable enough and hits the different sides enough to be effectively random, and used as a randomizer. Basically nothing not subatomic is truly random, but a lot of things are close enough to random that they seem it to people normally.
Matt comes from a game distopianed future where without michael to keep AH alive everything goes down hill. So he traveled to the past worked his way through the ranks to bring back rage quit. 🤣🤣🤣

The editing in this was really good. The bits that were sped up so we got to see the failed runs, but at a more appropriate speed for parts of the level we've seen, _with_ the normal-speed voiceover for the few things they would say during those runs, was genius. Well done editor.
