    • @LiamM_
      @LiamM_ Month ago +65

      @radomiakzradomia So because he didnt start the video at the beginning of time he is falsifying history? No he just didnt have 5 years to make a 72 hour long video explaining the entire history of a land since its first inhabitants LMAO

    • @radomiakzradomia
      @radomiakzradomia Month ago +6

      @LiamM_the downfall of the Ottoman Empire is a direct cause of the tensions we see today. Starting from the division of land between Russia, France and the UK is just bullshit propaganda of evli West. He could prepare an introduction lasting three minutes. But he did not do it on purpose because then the blame of West would not be so appealing

    • @ryanthompson591
      @ryanthompson591 Month ago +1

      @radomiakzradomia What was not factual in this video?

    • @radomiakzradomia
      @radomiakzradomia Month ago +10

      @ryanthompson591 In a 3-hour video, skipping the Ottoman Empire is a choice to falsify the region's political history. It frames the West as the sole 'creator' of the Middle East, ignoring that for 400 years, the region was governed by an Islamic Caliphate. By starting the story at the moment the West arrives, the video treats the fall of a 600-year empire as a footnote, which makes the 'Evil West' thesis look much more persuasive than it actually is in a full historical context.

      You obviously have a shocking lack of historical knowledge then. At what point in the whole of recorded history was this sort of thing not happening at least somewhere? I'll save you the time, there's no significant period ever. History didn't start in the 1940's bro. What do you suppose the solution would be anyway if there was a greater intervention? Arrest and or kill all Israelis? Kill all Jews? Then when all the Jews are dead....will that stop Muslims murdering each other in Sudan yeah? Study history bro. It will help you a lot. Did you know that much of North Africa was 90% originally Christian? Do you think the muslims are now 98% majorities in all those countries by spreading love? Come off it. Life is war.

    • @c4tl4dy76
      @c4tl4dy76 Month ago +28

      First of all, why not praise the people making this video? Since when is complimenting good work a bad thing?
      Also, we Americans, if we're honest with ourselves, have nothing to add besides "yeah, we did that crap." A lot of the government's shenanigans happened before we were born, or without our ability to do much about it. What is there to discuss? We butted into everyone else's business because, one time, in WWII, it was the right thing to do, and then it kind of worked out again in Korea. But we've been doing it for nefarious reasons ever since. Most of us are disgusted by American imperialism. Some of us believe the propaganda put out by the Western media conglomerates. But, again, a lot of us weren't alive to vote the war mongers out, and those that were alive didn't listen to the people sounding warnings about what was going on.
      And if the discussion you want to have involves human rights being infringed, remember that a lot of Americans could argue their rights are being suppressed now. If it was okay for us to invade countries to liberate them, it would be okay for other countries to liberate us. Personally, I'm hoping we get partitioned by Canada. ✌️

    • @c4tl4dy76
      @c4tl4dy76 Month ago +13

      @JessiLive I generally agree. But people from outside the States sometimes have a hard time separating what our government does from what we as individuals support. Kind of like how some people conflate HAMAS with Palestinians or the IDF with Jewish people in general. So I guess I like to remind people that even when we vote, we don't necessarily support decisions made behind closed doors based on falsified evidence, for example.

    Honestly, this is easily one of the best videos I’ve ever watched - definitely in my top 3.
    The level of production, storytelling, and detail is just incredible. I’m from Africa, and with all the news coming from different directions, I never fully understood what was really going on in the Middle East. But this video changed that completely.
    For the first time, everything actually makes sense to me on a deeper level. You broke it down in a way that’s clear, engaging, and real.

      @s@skullzandhidesdon’t even blame him, around the time these things happened information was not as available as it is today and citizens generally just listened to what their government told them and no government wants to look bad. To make it worse their information is actually very distorted even today because their government controls almost all information sources available to them
      If Americans and anyone else who have even 1 brain cell left they should be able to see the games America plays especially that in this video we’ve seen it in the leak that came from the UK. It really shows that the message America sends to its citizens and the world is always different from the truth.

      @joannebaek4551 My pleasure! I understand everyone likely has a degree of bias (it's more or less impossible to be completely impartial); however, as an Iranian I am slightly underwhelmed with some of the critical information that was left out of how we got to be where we are. One of the other notable events in our history was that in 1973 the Shah dismantled the post-coup consortium, giving Iran *complete* control of our oil production and refinement. Interestingly, only a few years later did mass anti-monarchist protests start spreading in Iran. Additionally, to add insult to injury - president Carter refused the Shah entry into America *twice* towards the end of his life, for a potentially life saving surgery. This led to him ultimately being buried in Cairo, Egypt as President Anwar Sadat was his only ally to offer him asylum. I am certainly not a historian but if anyone would like to know more about Irans history there are some wonderful books I would be happy to recommend.

      There's not, very much criticism in the comment section and something as complicated as geopolitics should have a diverse opinions. Because That's the way geopolitics works.. But people don't like conflict and diverse opinions creates conflict.That's why we have arguments.Arguments are meant to resolve conflict, but most people have been brainwashed into thinking.Arguments means hurt , feelings and emotional yelling and screaming and trying to silence other voices.Ignorance is bliss and this channel's it's very good at it.Most likely funded by the CIA... @johnnyharris The amount of misinformation you have posted in this video are unlimited, that if I had to mention them I'd probably have to create a video that'll debunk the whole of your video (with evidence). I reached to @01:38 minute, and cannot continue because of the amount of inaccurate data.
      I don't know whether you are just nieve or you did it deliberately, but you basically just repeated the same propaganda from the controlled mainstream. I advise you to either stay within your geographical area when you want to do the next video, or just do your homework properly. At least varify your information from a person from our region so you can get enlighten.
      I must say, this was a horrible experience yo watch , I don't know why RUclips recommended it to me. As a Middle Eastern I've been listening to the same propaganda I have been getting in my life, while I witnessed a whole different story from the reality in front of me.
      You may delete my comment, I don't care, I just wanted to deliver this message. Plus I'm sure some content creator will one day make a video to debunk all the mistakes you've made. I don't know what is your deal, but do your homework and don't be lazy man! We live in a different era and truth is coming to the surface more and more each day. One day you'll feel ashamed by this video because of the terrible errors.

      @gcburns4 Personally, as this was my first time watching him (based on RUclips recommendation) , I can’t judge if he’s "consumed by leftism," as I really don't/ can't know what is his deal from one video.
      But I did notice multiple factual errors regarding the Middle East. Given his large following, he should have verified his information as a matter of respect for his audience. Nevertheless, the judgment that I can have, is after patiently sitting through this hour-long video and seeing how frequently mistakes occurred, I’ve decided not to watch him again. I can't trust his accuracy on other regions that I’m less familiar with if he can't get these facts right.

    Some corrections.
    Turkish and iranian border wasnt drawn by foreign powers. Rather it was a sattelemate.
    Southern border of turkey was also not determined by foreign powers, rather people in these cities resisted against french and british occupation, and thats how they joined the main land.
    For example the original names of some cities are urfa, antep and maraş but since they kicked french on their own, they got a medal and now their offical name are,
    ŞANLI Urfa (Glorious Urfa), GAZİ Antep (Veteran Antep) , KAHRAMAN Maraş ( Heroic Maraş).
    As a matter of fact, turkey were up to taking northern ıraq, but kurdish uprising during these times made turkish efforts futile.
    Thats how we lost kirkuk.
    Quick note, beyond borders, demograpfic constitution are not homegenous, for example urfa had sizeable population of kurdish people, Aleppo had sizeable population of turkish people. And in fact, Aleppo was almost turkish, at that time, culturally, economically. But it ended up in the hands of french.
    But we got majorty arabic Hatay, for ourselves.

    • @Kolivak
      @Kolivak 28 days ago +8

      Actually, almost everything you said needs a correction.
      Turks were never a majority in Aleppo at any point in history. It was always a mixed Arab, Kurdish, Armenian and Christian city. Calling it "almost Turkish" is just nationalist revisionism with no demographic basis.
      Hatay is perhaps the most ironic point to bring up because it is one of the most documented cases of demographic manipulation in the region. Turks were deliberately resettled into the Sanjak of Alexandretta before the 1938 plebiscite specifically to engineer the vote outcome. Syria never accepted this and never will. If anything, Hatay proves the original point about foreign and local power manipulation, not against it.
      On the Iran border, the 1847 Treaty of Erzurum, which shaped the framework the 1932 adjustment built upon, had Russia and Britain directly involved as more than just mediators. They had strategic interests in where exactly Kurdish tribal territories and trade routes fell. You cannot cherry pick the 1932 fine-tuning and pretend the imperial architecture behind it didn't exist.
      On Syria and Iraq, yes local resistance mattered and shaped some outcomes, but the final borders were decided by France, who had no Syrian mandate to negotiate on behalf of, and by the League of Nations handing Mosul to Britain in 1926. Local agency gave the region leverage in some places, it did not give anyone sovereignty over the final outcome.
      The pattern is consistent. Foreign powers shaped every single border, and in Hatay's case Turkey was actually the beneficiary of that manipulation, which makes this argument particularly awkward to make.

    • @NewHorizon94
      @NewHorizon94 27 days ago +2

      @Kolivakfirst of all, thank you for your highlights, but You’re confusing the notary with the architect.
      Just because Britain and France signed the papers doesn’t mean they designed the outcome. They tried to design the outcome with the Treaty of Sèvres, and they failed miserably because they were defeated on the ground.
      1. On the Southern Cities: You claim the borders were 'decided' by France. If France had the power to 'decide,' they would still be in Maraş, Antep, and Urfa today. They didn't leave because of a polite request; they left because the local resistance (Kuvayi Milliye) made it militarily and financially impossible for them to stay. The Treaty of Ankara (1921) wasn't a French 'decision'-it was a French retreat.
      2. On the Iran Border: Citing the 1847 Treaty of Erzurum actually proves my point. Britain and Russia were mediators because the border was already a 200-year-old military stalemate (dating back to the 1639 Treaty of Zuhab). They didn't draw a new line in the sand; they were forced to recognize a frontier that two regional empires had already bled for over centuries. It’s the oldest stable border in the region specifically because it wasn't an artificial European invention.
      3. On Aleppo vs. Hatay: You’re arguing over demographics while ignoring geography and economics. Aleppo was the economic heart of the entire region; cutting it off from Anatolia was a surgical amputation performed by colonial powers, not a 'natural' demographic border. As for Hatay-call it 'engineering' if you want-but it’s the only example in the post-WWI era where a nation successfully clawed back territory from a 'Big Power' (France) without a new world war. That’s not 'manipulation'; that’s sovereign agency.
      Bottom line: Borders aren't just ink on paper. If the 'Big Powers' were as all-powerful as you claim, Turkey would be the size of a postage stamp today. The current borders exist because the Turkish National Movement literally tore up the European map and forced them to write a new one at Lausanne.
      And as a cultural note on aleppo, I am not sayşng that it. Was 100% turkish, but the culturally, economically and politically , it was as important as Edirne, or the lost cities in the Balkans.
      You can check turkish idioms and special jokes about aleppo.
      I hope this clarifies the topic from turkish point of view

    • @Kolivak
      @Kolivak 27 days ago +4

      This reads like a summary of a Turkish high school textbook. Turkey has one of the most well documented cases of nationalist indoctrination in its education system in the region, and it shows in how these points are framed. I'd recommend engaging with sources beyond what you were taught before attempting corrections.

    Man, I love this channel, and I especially love how Johnny Harris manages to put out such informational videos. It really helps you understand the world and how governments truly work. Great work, man! Love it! ❤️

      Investigate who are you sending your money to. You wasted 10 usd. If you would have sent 50000, you could decide the outcome of the next video. You will understand (hopefully) with time, when the topic will be affecting you.

    The trip you made to Saudi Arabia and the views of the mountains and sky and stars at night was so beautiful. Thank you for sharing this video and the story about the Bedouins and their life and their history. I wish I were young and able to travel and go have that experience.
    I wish to live in the countryside again here in Oregon. I’ve been stuck in a city, a small city comparatively, however it’s still a city. Too much noise, traffic, too many people, and I feel so irritable all the time because I just don’t feel at peace, I don’t feel calm, I feel crowded, overwhelmed, by noises, by other people’s emotions, anger, irritation, frustration, sadness, lack of peace and serenity, privacy, safety and security. It is so crowded and so invasive. I want, I need space, to see all the stars at night, to not hear vehicles of all kinds day and night, I want and need peace, calm, quiet, to hear frogs croaking, crickets, birds chirping and singing, and smell the fresh air. I feel like I’m shriveling up, slowly dying inside, disappearing. I need to be in nature. This is slowly killing me inside, stuck in the place. I feel so sad, so frustrated, so trapped. I’m trying to find a place to live, to rent, because I don’t have money to buy a place, a small house or cottage, 2 bedrooms, a bathroom, 900-1000 sq ft, a yard big enough for my dog to run and play and to grow veggies and fruits, a large storage shed, and some space between me and any neighbors. Room to breathe, room to live peacefully with nature, feel safe, have some privacy and feel contented.

    In a few months, you’ll need to create a new video about “The Modern Middle East,” and it’s going to be vastly different from how it is now.

      It's biased, he lies at 1:46:40 and conveniently forgets to mention Israel striking Irans nuclear energy infrastructure first before Iran started launching missiles at Israel last and year and then again this year

    • @arielrubinstein5024
      @arielrubinstein5024 Month ago +4

      This video is misleading on some subjects including the Israel part, I wouldn’t rely on his journalism in those matters

      @arielrubinstein5024as an Israeli, I’m aware. I’d rather this though over Aljazeera reports.
