The final Eurovision song performed to an orchestra, and also the debut of FYR Macedonia. It's almost symbolic in a way for the changes on the horizon. This is a great song, excellently orchestrated.
A nice debut song of my favorite ESC country. I think this is a bit underrated, and would not have been the same without an amazing orchestra. Greetings from Chile!
Lyrics: Stoj, ne zori, zoro, dušmanke - Stop, dawn, don't rise, you fiend V pušti nokjta da gi sokrie - Let the night hide Očive što ragjaat biseri - These eyes which bear pearls Srcevo što druga ne ljubi - This heart which can't love another Vinoto me vodi do nea - The wine leads me to her A se podaleku od pametta - And further away from my senses - Jas moram da pijam - I have to drink Da se opijam - To get drunk Bez nea da živeam - To live without her Majko, ne možam - Mother, I can't do it - Odi majko prašaj, kaj nejzinite - Mother, go and ask her elders Laukedi ja dadat za mene - Whether they will give her to me Ako ja dadat, vikni svirači - If they do, call the musicians Ako ne, mesto kletva - If they don't, instead of curses Po mene zaplači - Cry for me - Jas moram da pijam - I have to drink Da se opijam - To get drunk Bez nea sam da živeam - To live alone, without her Majko, ne možam - Mother, I can't do it - Jas moram da pijam - I have to drink Da se opijam - To get drunk Bez nea sam da živeam - To live alone, without her Majko, ne možam - Mother, I can't do it - Ne zori, zoro - Dawn, don't rise Pijano oro - A drunken dance So mene zaigraj - Dance with me
It almost feels like the director knew this would be the final Eurovision song with an orchestra, since there are more shots of the orchestra and conductor here than in any other song that year. Like a curtain call, almost. I'm neither for nor against bringing back some kind of live ensemble to accompany Eurovision entries, but I can't deny that a song like this would be lesser for not having the orchestra around, or at the very least an orchestra as strong as the BBC Concert Orchestra!

this is north macedonia’s second entry. their debut was in 1996. i count the 1996 nq’s as entries.

A really good year Eurovision 1998

Lyrics:
Stoj, ne zori, zoro, dušmanke - Stop, dawn, don't rise, you fiend
V pušti nokjta da gi sokrie - Let the night hide
Očive što ragjaat biseri - These eyes which bear pearls
Srcevo što druga ne ljubi - This heart which can't love another
Vinoto me vodi do nea - The wine leads me to her
A se podaleku od pametta - And further away from my senses
-
Jas moram da pijam - I have to drink
Da se opijam - To get drunk
Bez nea da živeam - To live without her
Majko, ne možam - Mother, I can't do it
-
Odi majko prašaj, kaj nejzinite - Mother, go and ask her elders
Laukedi ja dadat za mene - Whether they will give her to me
Ako ja dadat, vikni svirači - If they do, call the musicians
Ako ne, mesto kletva - If they don't, instead of curses
Po mene zaplači - Cry for me
-
Jas moram da pijam - I have to drink
Da se opijam - To get drunk
Bez nea sam da živeam - To live alone, without her
Majko, ne možam - Mother, I can't do it
-
Jas moram da pijam - I have to drink
Da se opijam - To get drunk
Bez nea sam da živeam - To live alone, without her
Majko, ne možam - Mother, I can't do it
-
Ne zori, zoro - Dawn, don't rise
Pijano oro - A drunken dance
So mene zaigraj - Dance with me

The last song in Eurovision to use an orchestra. It's been 25 years now..
This is what i call art
The best male performance from the Republic of Macedonia ever.
MACEDONIA TIMELESS!
Good old days
Really like it
This song is best of 1998
This is very good!
Sounds a bit like a Macedonia Heroes del Silencio.. but a very different look!
He looks like Johnny Rose from Schitt's Creek
he looks like eugene levy/johnny rose this 🤏 much

Macedonia, not the illegal term "north".

The last song ever to be performed along with an orchestra. And so incredibly boring. This guy had an entry in the 2015 FYROM final
Are you crazy? In 2015, Macedonia had another singer - Daniel Kajmakoski.
@@peterpankova5532 I was talking about the FYROM final, which Daniel Kajmakoski won, but that singer participated in.
@aufaida you are borring!
the most terrible one of the 1998 final...
I totally disagree.
One of the best, his voice is just so powerful
Great entry
I think 1998 was very a good contest , orchestra is excellent .This entry by Macedonia is actually my favourite
Look at yourself first
