    thanks, very clarifying! I knew the method but couldn't yet figure out how it worked.

    I really like this method because it visually shows how regrouping works.

    What do you do if there's a zero in the multiplicand or multiplier?

    • @dillonhf
      @dillonhf 8 лет назад +7

      Well what you do is... You still add the zero but maybe in a different colour. Then you do the same process however, you don't count where the lines intersect if it's the "zero line" :) hope that explains it lol

    Hello there. I love this channel.
    Actually 2x13 can be represented as 02x13
    0 line can be drawn as different colour or dashed line…

    At 4:52 it seems you are saying add ten plus ten to ten plus ten and you get fifty. I played it over and still seem to hear that. Is that a mistake or am I missing something? By the way, this is very nice. Thanks for the video - I sent it to my son. (..."in the middle we have ten plus ten, plus on the bottom ten plus ten which makes for fifty")

    • @MindYourDecisions
      @MindYourDecisions  10 лет назад

      Sorry about how that sounds, I must have "silently" pronounced all the tens. There are obviously 3 tens on top and 2 tens on the bottom. Thanks.

    If you have time, it would be nice to see how you do 304 x 203. I keep missing how the zero would come in within the answer for this. Thanks

    • @oenrn
      @oenrn 6 лет назад +1

      You draw a dotted line (or a line of a different colour) as a placeholder for the zero. Then when counting the dots, you ignore anything that intersects that line, but still use it for grouping.
      See his video here: v=bbKjXKV9QNA for an example.

    • @markiyanhapyak349
      @markiyanhapyak349 5 лет назад

      No, simply draw a line of a wanted value. For example a line of value 30 representing the tens. It gives you threehundred.

    In short it works because multiplication is distributive.

    Try to solve these problems with the line method:
    129 *233
    459*744
    1678*2223
    8999*12345

    • @TojosWizzyWorld

      * = times
      These problems might be hard at first, but at the end of promblem solving,they will become easier. Also,this is for antov,neptunium guy and raziel

    Honestly I dreamed about this after my birthday. Before I saw this I have proof that I made this type of multiplying numbers by myself.
    The dream was so realistic. It really taught me how to do this. After that dream and I woke up I was so nervous try this. But I really tried what I had seen in my dream, and it was true!
    Please, can anyone tell me who invented this because it was just an invention of my dream.

      My question is like 3x45.
      Anytime you have a single that makes a 10 be a hundred it makes no sense.
