I’m so glad I found your channel. This is going to help me get back into magic after being out for 7-8 years. I started playing back when 4th edition and Ice Age were all over the place. Played hardcore through Mirage. After that I stopped playing. Got back into it when the core set right before Ravnica came out. Then stopped shortly after. I’m getting my cards back out and have starting building decks. Your videos are keeping me sane from going out and spending hundreds of dollars on just one deck. I taught my fiancé how to play and she loves it. Your vids on how to make cheap decks will greatly help out now new loved kitchen table magic on a budget. You sir, are awesome!
I just now clicked on the notification. Dude. Dude. Oh my god, oh my god, oh god. OMG. I needed this. EDIT: Thanks, man. This is one of the most fun looking techs I've seen in a few months.
Hear me out, I have a great suggestion: I don't want a budget deck... I want the best vampiredeck that can be made..... but I might not have the money for that immediately. Think about including 2 lists when you do a budget deck tech, one the budget list, and one the fully upgraded list. Then people have a starting point and can buy pieces as they can afford it until they have the awesome version!
The biggest problem with your deck upgrades is you don't say which cards to replace them with. Like "Put Fatal Push in" well, do I put 4 in and take out the walk the plank, both ixalan binding and a dusk/dawn? Do I run 2 or 3? Do I replace a 1-drop? This is why a complete list for the upgraded version would be good. idk if you're even reading this though... this is meant to be helpful btw, not trying to bash you at all Dev. I love your content.
Dan, you nailed the Vampire advice man. I played in an 8 person 4-pack draft Friday & was able to focus on vamps (with my 40-card deck) on the back of 2 Bishop of the Bloodstained cards that were passed to me early. We did a long ("true") double elimination best-of-three tourney over probably 6 hours & I won the entire thing.. never losing a single match.. 90% because of well timed Bishops. Amazing how subtly devastating they are. Thanks man! :)
Ma Nut Draw this is the deck I'm brewing... it's vamps and warriors off monument... I'm trying to figure a good drain outlet, or horses. I'm still working out the kinks
i got a variation that pretty different than this too but Yahheni seems a 2 of MUST. also if u run the 4 gifted aetherborn i like 2/3 of the white cartouche. adding first strike to the deathtouch is VERY helpful. plus i run Costly Plunder as a 3 of to speed things. i use the warrior token to block and then as an instant i sac it for two cards to help get me to more vamps faster. the tokens Fain makes are perfect to sac for real cards too
I run 2 Yahenni as well as 2 Vona in my brew, how is O monument? I thought about running it in my brew, just wasnt sure, also thought about trying out Bontu's monument for the drain, especially against control which has given me the most headaches thus far.
i considered the monument but the mix of creature i play is more black than white so that doesnt help. i do play the white vamp that also makes a 1/1 token on etb. i got 2 Bontu to help use more tokens and scry to help me more playables. if ur playing a build with lots of tokens for sure consider Bontu as a 2!!!
I bought this deck for MTGO as I was watching/listening to this video. Something inside me told me, that this deck was the deck I was looking for, for Ixalan Standard. AND OH BOY!!!!! ARE YOU KIDDING ME!!! I blasted my opponents out the game (Played against 3 people so far). Thank you, thank you, thank you for this deck! I'm going to buy it for Friday Night Magic too now :)
A couple ideas for variations on this deck might be Annointed Procession combined with Mavrin and Legion's Landing - getting twice the number of tokens for each activation would be VERY nice with the Bishop of the Bloodstained. Add to that Call to the Feast (just a one or two-of) and you have the makings for some serious hurt. I love the addition of Dusk // Dawn - didn't think of that one when I built my own version of this deck. Thanks as always Dev.
I just wanna say this guy is my favourite magic RUclipsr his voicr isnt annoying, he has cute cats, he makes good decks, and he's not afraid to show his face you are an amazing person keep doing what you're doing man
I'm personally building a W/B Vamp Tribal standard and most of the cards you said I basically have as well. My budget is a little higher, so I chose to add some stuff to my main deck like 2x Legion's Landing, Oketra the True for the double strike and token with vigilance, and unclaimed territory in the land deck for the extra black and such. I also got 2x Slash of Talons for the extra damage to attackers and defenders. for my deck to be complete though, I need those 4xgifted aetherborns and I'm also planning on adding 4x harsh scrutiny. No one expects the Vampire Inquisition!
Duskborne Skymarcher is not a dumb name, it's fantastic, Goddamn. That being said, I like this deck enough to have built a non-budget version (and even then it's still quite cheap, you legitimately don't need Mimics) and I'm currently using it and it's holding its ground. As far as further upgrades go, the most obvious is Yahenni. Yahenni and Mavren Fein were made for each other. I go 3 and 3 on each. Sanctum Seekers is not quite as necessary. In addition, you probably want Oketra, and even her monument. Unless your opponent is a mad nutcase on the removal plan, she will be enabled more often than not, and she's an easy wincon right there. Finally: Legion Conquistador. Go and get it right now. It fills your hand, thins your deck, and adds numbers. If you decide to throw in an Oketra's Monument, it can be a bear. It's also super cheap and always will be. Do it. It's an MVP. Loved the video, Dev.
Lumi Jo I haven't gotten to play vampires yet myself, but your deck list is like my greatest hits list for what to try and cram in. I also agree on mimic not being needed. Mimic is more important in merfolk due to the counter synergy. Vamps feel more grindy with lifelink cards. Also, butcher of megan is under rated imo. =)
I got the Vraska deck today, gonna upgrade the deck with few cards, i just started MTG and using an upgraded planeswalker deck at my first FNM, then looking into this deck if I like the vamps.
Thank you for delivering these decks Buying official prepackaged decks seemed futile for me for a long time now I couldn't devote so much energy and time into making such good decks as you are demonstrating.
I just played against this exact deck in 4 way multiplayer games. This deck did some work. Didn't win every game, but stood up way better than anyone thought.
Abercrombie joke killed me. So great. Thanks dev! Pretty close to my build. Only difference was I dropped the Conquistador to run Legion's landing. I also ran the 2 mana 1/3 flyer instead of Bishop's soldier. Dusk is clutch. I don't think Metallic Mimic is super important to vamps. Merfolk seems really the place to run the Mimics. I also didn't run the Bishop of the Bloodstained and instead ran 2 Vanquisher's Banner.
Cool video. Have you considered doing deck upgrades for new standard? Maybe a video where you update multiple decks to show us how we should change the decks aften rotation (or completly scratch them if they lidt too much to be a deck in ixalan)
What would you take out for a player of Metallic Mimic? I'm intrigued by the Merfolk deck, and like the idea of testing both and being able to use the $$ cards in both decks.
Oh man, I am so excited to see your explore deck. Sounds like it’s going to be a lot of fun on a budget. You gonna throw some snakes in there? Love your videos!
I am working on a almost vampire deck. My top end is 2 Gonti and 4 sun crested mare. It looks like you need more white on turn one and black on turn two. Since i have harvester i plan to run 4 aether hubs. Nothing but mare will have more than 2 power.
Also, i think some of the new 1 crew boats could be a nice addition for the tokens, I'd give a shot to the "sun titan" vampire, and the new banner actifact should be an auto include. Pumping all vampires seems devastating.
Made a interesting twist throwing in bontus monument and oketras monument with a play set of restoration gear smith. It’s a nightmare for control because you make a 3/3 body that gets your best creature in your graveyard to your hand and or a monument if needed. Plus the monuments work great with casting it cheaper and yahenni loves the monuments.
I've been playing this and your BG Explore in MtGO. BW Vampires wins more often, though that could be because I'm much better with aggro decks. I will say that both decks are very susceptible to shuffler messing with your land drops. Thanks for the good work.
First off I'd like to thank ya SbMtg for the awesome videos, taught me a lot about building decks. Started playing about a month ago and built a very similar deck myself but as a B/W vampire token deck, with Annointed procession, and Vanquisher's Banner. My question is what is the best go to cheap token deck you'd play right now for standard
I understand that you didn't add fatal push for pricing reasons but I think bloodcrazed paladin and Yaheeni work pretty well together. I understand youre trying to make a board presence to hit a big 5 drop but Yaheeni would make this deck faster. You can curve out at 4 instead so you can cut a land or two. I think she's worth noting and you didn't even mention her!
What's your opinion on possibly replacing some of the copies of Bishop of the Bloodstained with Crested Sunmare (non-budget version if that matters)? The deck does have a lot of inherent life gain.
I am thinking of trying a yore control deck in standard. Could it be a deck? It seems to have all the destroy spells and sweepers plus counter magic as well. Any feed back will be nice.
This is my favorite deck tech so far even the upgrades I'm thinking of in my head sound like this deck has so much potential and I think can even get better with the next set good job dev u convinced vamps have potential !
I love this tribe almost as much as I love Merfolks in Italian! (which is a huge praise). I brewed up a token version for the benefits of Sanctum Seeker and Bishop of the Bloodstained. The synergy there is bonkers! Won me games when at times I did not even get to attack directly. In that brew I play Legion's Landing, which drove up the cost a bit but I like it when it flips over to Adanto, the First Fort. For me, a very loyal fan ... Could you deck tech a budget or non-budget tokens version of this tribe? I suspect the non-budget may feature Anointed Procession (puts on brewing face)
Having playtested this deck a bunch, I would take out the dusk born skymarch for a playset of bishops soldier. A bear with lifelink is a lot better than the pump dusk born quickily turns into. The flying is good for 1 or 2 turns, then you just use it as a blocker when your opponent keeps slamming your face. Bishops soldier is much better.
Yes Dev! This was the deck I wanted to see thanks!! How many Legion's Landing should I play? 3? Do you think Call to the Feast is playable here? Not worth it?
Does hexproof not protect against deathtouch? Asking because of the carnage tyrant example. I thought deathtouch targeted the card that it's subject is fighting
Great deck Dev but with all the removal in the meta i doubt bishop will be that impactful unless u play call to the feast (2wb put 3 vamp tokens) to go wide(r). Also what about the tribal land (unclaimed territory)? Not budget enough? Does it help the channel if i view the decklist at tcg through the link in the description but not buy anything?
I'm just a casual player that plays for fun I have built 7 of your budget decks and this deck is super fun im still toying with the sideboard but I have 1 built but 1 suggestion I have is vampire zeal 1 mana instant that can protect your gifted aetherborn while killing any huge threats like carnage tyrant just a thought but I do enjoy it
Im trying to get started in MTG. Is this a good way to get started? This seems to be a better start than a tool kit or planeswalker deck. Would I be correct in saying so?
Liked for the content, which is awesome as always. =) But cant express enough how their decision to make the Spanish Empire into vampires really killed the set for me.
Gideon's Intervention is far superior to Ixalan's Binding. It does the EXACT same thing with the added bonus of being able to cast it BEFORE your opponent's big threat hits the board. It can also hit Approach rendering that deck totally useless in most instances as well as all other bothersome Instants/Sorceries. Well worth the double white in its casting cost especially since we're trying to have WW for Dusk/Dawn anyway. And the price is comparable too.
I like it when you arrive to the manabase! Oups doubles/triples the price of the deck...Do WOTC look to the numbers sometime? Manabase sould'nt be an entry ticket to the standard, dual lands shoud be at least uncommon. Better packs value, price of the lands down, more confidence to attempt standard games.

One thing I love about orshov vamps is how upgradable the deck is. There is like tiers of upgrades.
Dope Castlevania music, my dude. Bloody Tears is one of the best tracks.
I need the link to that track

In my version I added Yahheni as a good creature that has very strong synergy with Mavren and oketras monument to make more tokens
so you have anointed procession as well?
Ma Nut Draw this is the deck I'm brewing... it's vamps and warriors off monument... I'm trying to figure a good drain outlet, or horses. I'm still working out the kinks

"He's young he's black and he's gifted"
Been running Vamps at FNM. Settle the Wreckage and Aethersphere Harvester were both great.
I bought a box for Aether Revolt a while ago and got 3x Fatal Push out of it, bought the 4th from my local card shop for $5.
Lumi Jo
Do you have a deck list? This seems interesting!
Keep in mind this is heavily tuned towards my meta, your mileage WILL vary.
4x Gifted Aetherborn
4x Legion Conquistador
3x Mavren Fein, Dusk Apostle
3x Metallic Mimic
3x Oketra the True
2x Vicious Conquistador
3x Yahenni, Undying Partisan
4x Fatal Push
3x Anointed Procession
2x Hidden Stockpile
2x Dusk / Dawn
2x Legion's Landing
3x Oketra's Monument
4x Concealed Courtyard
5x Plains
3x Shefet Dunes
6x Swamp
4x Unclaimed Territory
Lumi Jo love the decklist bro

I like this deck, and even the full version tops out around under $100, even with picking up 4 fatal pushes.
I got the Vraska deck today, gonna upgrade the deck with few cards, i just started MTG and using an upgraded planeswalker deck at my first FNM, then looking into this deck if I like the vamps.

I just played against this exact deck in 4 way multiplayer games. This deck did some work. Didn't win every game, but stood up way better than anyone thought.
My version used "essence extraction" as removal instead of dusk to dawn
Why did the algorithm bring me to this video, 4 years after it's relevant.
That being set I miss xalon standard
The moment he made the comment about Abercrombie, I knew I had to push that like button..
I decided to build this deck. So far I'm undefeated in kitchen table magic (10 games) and I'm 3-1 in Standard at the local game shop. Great deck!
What's that bloody tears remix in the opening?
"Abercrombie was the only thing that reminded me of undead, bloodsuckers." DEAD! XD
Testing a version of this deck with anointed procession, more tokens and horses. Seems fun so far. The vampiric cavalry is here!
Could you do a upgraded version of this deck plz. Ty.
Anyone else find it odd that the card Dawn is what will return a bunch of "Vampires" from the graveyard to the hand?
Why no unclaimed territory? I run 3 in mine, also if one were to upgrade, get 4 concealed courtyard first, it makes the deck much faster.
I was thinking about unclaimed territory as I have 4. Concealed courtyard are too expensive for a deck like this.
I am working on a almost vampire deck. My top end is 2 Gonti and 4 sun crested mare. It looks like you need more white on turn one and black on turn two. Since i have harvester i plan to run 4 aether hubs. Nothing but mare will have more than 2 power.
Dev, man. You kill me! The Abercrombie shot...I nearly feinted from lack of breath!
Also, i think some of the new 1 crew boats could be a nice addition for the tokens, I'd give a shot to the "sun titan" vampire, and the new banner actifact should be an auto include. Pumping all vampires seems devastating.
Also with attacking vampires you have direct damage and gain life with Sanctum Seeker
Made a interesting twist throwing in bontus monument and oketras monument with a play set of restoration gear smith. It’s a nightmare for control because you make a 3/3 body that gets your best creature in your graveyard to your hand and or a monument if needed. Didn’t go cheap with removal either play set of fatal push and 3 vraskas contempt and settle the wreckage
I've been playing this and your BG Explore in MtGO. BW Vampires wins more often, though that could be because I'm much better with aggro decks. I will say that both decks are very susceptible to shuffler messing with your land drops.
Thanks for the good work.
I used almost all of the cards you suggested and almost always win free for all standard and 1v1... the vamps are strong again...
I took first place in the Standard showdown with this deck. Thanks

What's your opinion on possibly replacing some of the copies of Bishop of the Bloodstained with Crested Sunmare (non-budget version if that matters)? The deck does have a lot of inherent life gain.
I've seen more versions with Crested Sunmare, really fun. You have it very consistend already.
would skulduggery be a viable sideboard option i feel like its a good answer for really agro decks
I think that Bloodcarzed Paladin is an excellent sideboard card against matchups which have lots of sweepers
Came here from a recommendation from The Professor. Love your videos will be subbing.
Thank you for including upgrades! You really do listen to the comments ❤️
Great video dude- you inspired me to begin rapping, keep on doing your thing!
I am thinking of trying a yore control deck in standard. Could it be a deck? It seems to have all the destroy spells and sweepers plus counter magic as well. Any feed back will be nice.
This is my favorite deck tech so far even the upgrades I'm thinking of in my head sound like this deck has so much potential and I think can even get better with the next set good job dev u convinced vamps have potential !
yeah I think the next set could very well make B/W vamps competitive, which makes me happy as Vamps are my favorite mtg tribe.
I like Aethersphere Harvester in my version. Can be crewed by a token and is really annoying to play against!
I thought about running it in my list.
What were your thoughts on Call to the Feast? Do you think it would be worth getting those three extra dudes before dropping the bishop?
This was my first real magic deck and I still play it and it's still fun. Great deck.
Dude, was that music from (Castlevania 2 - Simon's Quest) slowed down? Sweet.
The Abercrombie joke killed me. Fantastic
Nice touch with Bloody Tears and vampires.
Bishop's soldier is already in the deck, did you mean another card?
Deck is tight....but seriously where you get that bloody tears remix...beat is dope
Hey Dev. Thanks for the Deck. What are your thoughts on BW crested sunmare in this standard?
Bishop of rebirth is this months promo and I highly recommend playing at least 3
Yes Dev! This was the deck I wanted to see thanks!! How many Legion's Landing should I play? 3? Do you think Call to the Feast is playable here? Not worth it?
Im very new at MTG and this really helps a lot. Love vampires, thanks dude.
Just curious why Unclaimed Territory didn't make the list?
Does hexproof not protect against deathtouch? Asking because of the carnage tyrant example. I thought deathtouch targeted the card that it's subject is fighting
Great deck Dev but with all the removal in the meta i doubt bishop will be that impactful unless u play call to the feast (2wb put 3 vamp tokens) to go wide(r). Also what about the tribal land (unclaimed territory)? Not budget enough?
Does it help the channel if i view the decklist at tcg through the link in the description but not buy anything?
I'm just a casual player that plays for fun I have built 7 of your budget decks and this deck is super fun im still toying with the sideboard but I have 1 built but 1 suggestion I have is vampire zeal 1 mana instant that can protect your gifted aetherborn while killing any huge threats like carnage tyrant just a thought but I do enjoy it
I'd love to see you do something with Vraska, Relic Seeker.
I feel like a we have a lot of tools in the format for a B/W tokens deck, we just really need another zulaport cutthroat
I'm new to magic, I like blue and black and control.. any idea for a deck to start? thanks
Im trying to get started in MTG. Is this a good way to get started? This seems to be a better start than a tool kit or planeswalker deck. Would I be correct in saying so?
"Gifted Aetherborn; he's young, he's Black, and he's gifted."
FUCKING SUBBEDD
UW Approach! I think I have everything for it. ;P
Hey Dev, please do B/W Tokens! I know Wedge just posted a tech on that deck, but I'd love to see your take.
Hey Dev, what do you think of Ixalan's version of Sound the Alarm? Is it worth putting in here?
I wish you put up images of the lands like you do with all the other cards
Young black and gifted 😂😂😂 I know that feeling. Subbed!
Does this deck still have relevance?
Would I be able to take this deck to standard events at my LGS and have a chance at winning? I'm looking for a budget deck and I like vampires.
I'm building a variant on this but going on the heavy side on the token vampires.
I just put a variation of this Deck together :) Hopefully it does well at FNM. I also can't wait to upgrade it with stuff from Rivals! :O WOOOOOOT!
Wow. Impressive. I have seen alot of deck teck vids today. Yours is the best imho.
Could I get some images for the lands. Being unfamiliar with standard. What you show me is what I know.
Dev told me to go ahead to go ahead and sub. So I went ahead and subbed.
Liked for the content, which is awesome as always. =)
But cant express enough how their decision to make the Spanish Empire into vampires really killed the set for me.
4 Duskborne Skymarcher
3 Vicious Conquistador
4 Gifted Aetherborn
4 Bishop's Soldier
3 Mavren Fein, Dusk Apostle
4 Skymarch Bloodletter
4 Sanctum Seeker
4 Bishop of the Bloodstained
3 Dusk // Dawn
2 Ixalan's Binding
1 Walk the Plank
4 Forsaken Sanctuary
4 Ifnir Deadlands
2 Shefet Dunes
8 Swamp
6 Plains
I just saved you all 11 minutes.
True master
Still think is worth seeing the video to understand how the deck is made but I've already watched it and just wanted to remember the cards. Thx
I love vampires. Just in general, not just in magic. Tribals are also my favorite type of deck so this will be great.
Note: This deck's now running around $35-45
hey man you should try a captivating crew deck with hazorets favor authority of consuls
Would be nice to see you playing some game on MTGO or something with some of those deck you're doing.
How does he score the decks? Is it a website or does he do it himself? I am interested ^_^
Should i add bishop of rebirth
I know I'm not the first to point this out but gifted aetherborn is from the kaladesh block
.3. Cant wait to see angel/demon budget deck for new set. 3.
That intro was fire.
What about Bishop of Rebirth??
Leggo! This was the deck I'm brewing. I hope dev can give me some guidance.
Bloody tears, pro intro
no yahinni?
