    Just a word of advice for anyone installing this. 4/0 (pronounced 4 ought) is not the same as 4 gauge wire. 4/0 is the recommended wire for this, its massive, if you can, shell out for the welding wire which is much easier to work with.

    If you want the full 20 amps. You have to hard wire it to inverter..Just remove that cover next to the 3 outlets. As them 3 outlets are only rated to 15amps.. And use #10 SJOO cord wire to the first outlet that should be a GFCI. Any Outlets off that one will be protected.
    And ground the inverter to the Chassis.. It's required to protect the inverter...And NEC code for RV's...

    Battery terminals on the inverter are not covered! No fuse on the positive end of the battery cable from the inverter!

    I plan to set mine up like yours but Mount a female 30 amp plug, an exit hole at the bottom, that’s reclosable. That way I can use my shore power cord, plug it in, then the whole trailer including AC will work for a period based on amp hours of batteries

    Did this same xact thing and plugged in the 15 amp dog bone to my 30 amp RV cord then plugged into inverter receptacle and got nothing. Can’t figure out what the issue is. Anything else I plug dircectly into the inverter works fine and nothing wrong with rv panel or cord on shore power. Doesn’t work off the 30 amp female I wired to the inverters high output terminals either. Yes, my wiring is correct. No ground fault error light. No clue why this is not working for me.

    We have a Springdale 222RDWE and it has a inverter prep. (wiring in the storage compartment for the outlets inside) I am assuming in this case, I can hard wire it to the existing prepped wires to the inside outlets. (only wires to select outlets labaled "inverter") through the hard wire ports on the inverter? Also, if my unit has a solar panel and a charge controller separately, do I have to do any other modifications to that system to make it work with the inverter? Regarding the shunt, does that monitor the battery level and use/ charge state?

    Thank you for your video. I have a couple of question please. I just bought Renovy inverter 2000 watts from eBay. As soon as I turned on, I could hear the fan's sound started about a second or so then it (fan) shut off. Does your inverter do the same thing? Is this normal or do I get a defective one?

    • @otterhb

      I do not remember if it did or not but in normal use the fan is not running on mine

    • @bongknaek
      @bongknaek Год назад

      @@otterhb can you turn the inverter off and then turn back on (or if it’s already off, just turn back on) to see if the fan would turn about one second then shut off? Mine does that every time I turn on the inverter.

    Using a level on an RV is like trying to find level on a ship at sea. No matter how close you think your RV is to level, where ever you use a level in your RV, it won't be level the next time you move it. Measurements are more accurate for this application. Levels in an RV should only be used to attempt to level the RV during setup.

      They're actually 4/0, but read my other comment about size. You can do 1/0 if you're within 8', or do a 2/0. Lots easier to find too.

    Not sure why you chose to mount your batteries outside where they are exposed to extreme weather fluctuations, batteries are happiest when they are as close to 77f as much as possible, they will last a lot longer if they are.

    • @wsmcook
      @wsmcook Год назад +1

      Certain batteries require venting and cannot be placed outside.

    • @chrissharon3213
      @chrissharon3213 Год назад

      AGM requires venting and this would not be good inside. If a Lithium battery is used it could be inside.

    Renogy 3000 watt inverter is crap. You should be able to get 25 Amps but you don’t with this inverter you only get about 20 amps. The leads are connected directly to the 15amp plugs.
