I agree 👍. I wasn't expecting such enduring and vicious fight from both. I respect both fighters. They gave everything. Angela came back strong despite early set backs, however her determination psyche of not giving up showed what a tough fighter she is. She is capable of dominating the scene provided she remains focused.

That's a very silly comment. I don't know any of these fighters b4 this fight, and I could clearly see that they awarded the wrong fighter. She started out shaky but came strong throughout and dominated.
I was actually surprised it wasn't. Good on Herb Dean to know that a fighter with a heart like Angela can come back from seeming devastating blows. Too bad the judges gave that first round more weight than Angela's dominance in the next four rounds.
Thats why he didnt step in, the punches were not effective and most were blocked. But lee dominated and showed more skill, if she had persisted instead of taunting, maybe the judges would have noticed
What is wrong with Angela Lee’s coaches ? She is still taking far too many clean punches in the stand up ! I’ve watched all 3 of her fights against Xiong , and watched her walk in with hands down , and horrible boxing defense . If I were her , I’d fire my coach , and get somebody that can actually train her boxing , and hone her skills
I don't think she's fast/fluid enough to be a good striker, or have even decent head movement. She's an amazing grappler, but she doesn't seem to be all that athletic/explosive. Even her footwork is very slow and telegraphed. She also doesn't hit hard, so her striking has no redeeming qualities if I'm going to be harsh but honest. Its mediocre to bad, especially for this level of competition.
My girl lacks the speed of her opponent. Angela's doesn't have the hand speed to box with her nemesis. And she lacks the strength to throw her down. But Angela's kicks and knees are superior. I thought Angela won this one.

Great fight.. Correct result..Lee is fantastic..Xiong is clinical and doesn't waste energy and her punches connect. Lee always going forward, but Xiong is happy for this to happen and is always in control..

Everytime Lee closed in for a takedown, she was rocked by Xiong's swings. Besides, Lee couldn't hold Xiong down for long, her grappling fizzled. Both kept their safe distances learned from the previous two fights. The puncher avoided the grappler's grappling and grappler avoided the puncher's punching. There were no running around for life.
She wasn't running for her life, it's called timing shots. She's not better than Lee on the ground so has to be careful about overextending. She also knows that Lee is most comfortable on the ground or in the clench trying to work to the ground. So she stayed close the fence to fight of takedowns and looked to counter punch. She countered Lee a lot and Lee also seemed to miss a lot. Honestly it's the best strategy against someone who is a superior grappler. Lee's biggest mistake was not pushing for the take down enough.

However, I do agree that Xiong was definitely taking Lee’s punches with ease, but those were detouring Xiong from her original game plan. I had Xiong winning most rounds of the fight as well... I was surprised to see Lee celebrating as if she won at the sound of the final bell. Xiong dominated, refused to "go ground" most of the time -which was a excellent strategy because Lee ground game has always been top notch. The more tattoos Lee seems to get, the more she seems to slow down -just a wee bit... Age may be catching up with her. And although Xiong may not be the prettiest and the "cookie cutter cutout model" that most fighting organizations desire for ratings, what (in my opinion) she lacks there, she MORE THAN makes up for it in her fighting ability and is definitely one hell of a fighter! After that she just needs to defend her advantages and make sure Angela won't able to score any big points to come back. It's correct strategic decision. Angela playing catch up the whole time. Xiong won simply because she didn't play aggressive and threw her lead away, she was the smarter fighter playing like that because she knows she is the better boxer and Lee is the better grappler. 100% I felt the same round one I thought Angela lost but all the other rounds she controlled the fight and Xiong was avoiding her and running from her.... like she was fighting to not lose and Angela was fighting to win.

Unfortunately, Lee doesn't have control of the game. Being aggressive and on the chase doesn't mean you are in control. In fact its Xiong that had total control throughout the match. Because fighting is not about being aggressive or who throw the most punches. Instead the scoring is based on hits that actually connects or land clean. Xiong knows Lee have no choice but to play catch up and aggressive so she switch to defensive play, doing counter punches. Even if Lee manages to strike her, chances she gets connection too, maintaining her points lead. Also to note, Lee is a better grappler and Xiong is a better boxer. Keeping Lee at range and playing mostly strikes is a great strategy to prevent Lee from player her best submission game. Fight IQ is a big part of the game. Btw, submissions do not give points. Even if you managed to takedown opponents it doesn't mean anything unless you are able to choke or lock them to do damage. 6:14 to 6:27 for example, Lee put Xiong in a hold and did numerous knees strikes. However, almost everyone one of them got parried and did no damage to Xiong. This is why its deceiving to audiences who don't know the sport well. Lee got little to no points there even if she was aggressive or looked as thou she was in the upperhand. But in reality, that position was pretty much neutral for both of them. Immediately after that exchange you can see Xiong came out strong and fresh, unaffected. Lee on the other hand looked like she lost alot of stamina for her aggressive play.

Love them both! awesome in their own styles which makes them great. Not sure I would be able to pick a favorite. If Angela can keep her on the ground (best ground game in the sport) great, If Xiong stays standing up great (she has so much power and precision). either way it goes they are both world champs to me.
She didn't thou, she was only chasing Xiong most of the time. She was aggressive but she landed little to no clean hits while Xiong kept throwing counter punches. You don't earn points by chasing or throwing punches that don't connect. If you look at the pacing and their stamina, Xiong was in better control the whole time. Lee was desperate to land hits because she was lagging behind after the first round and ended up opening herself up alot of times.

Lee is the superior grappler, Xiong simply had the better strategy to avoid letting Lee play her best game and kept her at range to trade punches which Xiong is better at. She should have known Xiong would comeback in this 3rd match with a strategy to deal with her game, seems like Lee didn't prepare well enough.
I think the first round was 10-7 as Angela appeared to get dropped twice. Xiong landed heavy shots, and Angela was definitely more active and moving forward in the other 4 rounds. Never let it go to the judges.

Xiong is the better player in this fight for the strategy she employed. I have no doubt if Lee gets to play her submission game she can win but unfortunately she had no answers to Xiong's strategy and is forced into a mostly boxing match that Xiong is better at and she lost fair and square.
100% I felt the same round one I thought Angela lost but all the other rounds she controlled the fight and Xiong was avoiding her and running from her.... like she was fighting to not lose and Angela was fighting to win.

Unfortunately, Lee doesn't have control of the game. Being aggressive and on the chase doesn't mean you are in control. In fact its Xiong that had total control throughout the match. Because fighting is not about being aggressive or who throw the most punches. Instead the scoring is based on hits that actually connects or land clean. Xiong knows Lee have no choice but to play catch up and aggressive so she switch to defensive play, doing counter punches. Even if Lee manages to strike her, chances she gets connection too, maintaining her points lead. Also to note, Lee is a better grappler and Xiong is a better boxer. Keeping Lee at range and playing mostly strikes is a great strategy to prevent Lee from player her best submission game. Fight IQ is a big part of the game. Btw, submissions do not give points. Even if you managed to takedown opponents it doesn't mean anything unless you are able to choke or lock them to do damage.
6:14 to 6:27 for example, Lee put Xiong in a hold and did numerous knees strikes. However, almost everyone one of them got parried and did no damage to Xiong. This is why its deceiving to audiences who don't know the sport well. Lee got little to no points there even if she was aggressive or looked as thou she was in the upperhand. But in reality, that position was pretty much neutral for both of them. Immediately after that exchange you can see Xiong came out strong and fresh, unaffected. Lee on the other hand looked like she lost alot of stamina for her aggressive play.

The first round was Xiong's but Angela made a good come back and got back up.
Then Angela took control of the rounds to come.
She didn't thou, she was only chasing Xiong most of the time. She was aggressive but she landed little to no clean hits while Xiong kept throwing counter punches. You don't earn points by chasing or throwing punches that don't connect. If you look at the pacing and their stamina, Xiong was in better control the whole time. Lee was desperate to land hits because she was lagging behind after the first round and ended up opening herself up alot of times.

Lee is the superior grappler, Xiong simply had the better strategy to avoid letting Lee play her best game and kept her at range to trade punches which Xiong is better at. Lee had no answer to her opponent's strategy, she got out played and its her lost. She should have known Xiong would comeback in this 3rd match with a strategy to deal with her game, seems like Lee didn't prepare well enough.

I think the first round was 10-7 as Angela appeared to get dropped twice. Xiong landed heavy shots, and Angela was definitely more active and moving forward in the other 4 rounds. Never let it go to the judges.
