I know you said this chest of drawers was probably from Ikea, but it is just like the unfinished furniture available in the 1960s. I bought a chest and night stand just like this one and finished them my self, my first projects. I still have them.

It seems like lighter or mid-tone stains are more popular right now, but I love a dark, rich stain. So thanks for showing that such a result can be achieved even with pine. Good job!

I really like the fact that you're ok with picking up furniture from somebody else's rubbish - my "life philosophy" is to be as eco friendly as possible (but not at all cost), but that is not always seen as "posh". That's why I really enjoy watching videos in which people are trying to do some good and make some money along the way.

@@LaughingInTinyI used to tell people "I'll dig thru someone's trash to save an item" ..
Then one day, I seen an individual spend hrs digging thru my neighbors trash. She was moving and there were a ton of bags.
From that day fwd, I haven't told a sole that ... Why? ... Because what I actually meant by my statement was "if there's an item sitting by someone's trash that is visible (u know like we've watched Katie do) I'll grap it" .. What I have never done is literally open people's trash & rummage thru it ..
      *lord have mercy .. I can't believe I told people I did* 🤣

Final product surprised me! The application of the second darker stain took it where it needed to go! (After the first stain I got serious 1990s cheap “office furniture veneer” vibes!) The final reveal shows a classy dresser and my first thought was “Add a glass top!” and you would have something like I remember from my grandmother’s home filled with high quality furniture!

Another great Saturday video (that I didn't get a chance to see until Sunday!) Love seeing you transform someone's literal trash into treasure--the finished product looked like some pieces I've seen that were actual antiques, with a similar look and finish attained with age. I especially like when you work on pieces with the common "orange" finish, usually oak or pine--they look dated and get passed over because of that, but can still be made current with the right paintwash or stain.
