The feature film introduces a legendary family of explorers, the Clades, as they attempt to navigate an uncharted, treacherous land alongside a motley crew that includes a mischievous blob, a three-legged dog and a slew of ravenous creatures. “Inspired by classic adventure stories," said director Don Hall, “‘Strange World’ is an original animated adventure/comedy about three generations of the Clade family who overcome their differences while exploring a strange, wondrous and oftentimes hostile world.”
The voice cast includes Jake Gyllenhaal as Searcher Clade, a family man who finds himself out of his element on an unpredictable mission; Dennis Quaid as Searcher’s larger-than-life explorer father, Jaeger; Jaboukie Young-White as Searcher’s 16-year-old son, Ethan, who longs for adventure; Gabrielle Union as Meridian Clade, an accomplished pilot and Searcher’s partner in all things; and Lucy Liu as Callisto Mal, Avalonia’s fearless leader who spearheads the exploration into the strange world. “Strange World” is helmed by Don Hall (Oscar®-winning “Big Hero 6,” “Raya and the Last Dragon”) and co-director/writer Qui Nguyen (co-writer “Raya and the Last Dragon”), and produced by Roy Conli (Oscar®-winning “Big Hero 6,” “Tangled”).

May I recommend the works of Cartoon Saloon. I think their movies are great and they still use traditional animation.

All this movie makes me wanna do is watch Treasure Planet. You know Disney, it'd be nice if you did some cartoon animations once in a while. Dreamworks and Pixar styled movies are great I love them the 3D animations, but Disney I feel like honestly ur way more well known for cartoon styled animation. Seriously I feel like this movie would've been so much better had it been cartoon drawn animation because it would've looked more appealing overall!

Disney made a pretty forgettable and boring movie: "the princess and the frog" as their last 2D animated movie, and because it was forgettable and boring it didn't do well, but Disney took that as an excuse that 2D films are out and 3D films are in. When in reality it's most likely because 3D animation is cheaper to make.
I also want to see a resurgence in 2D animation... Outside of Japan. Western 2D animation is either comedy for kids or comedy for adults but we almost never get anything serious.

Disney seems to be struggling lately with making appealing trailers. Its midnight and i just finished watching it and although the trailer is not well executed (lets be real), I really liked it. I might give it another watch in the morning just to know if i'm just tripping but as of right now, its pretty good. There's bit of the plot that may need some more in depth explanation though but otherwise, really loved the visuals and concept in this movie. Likable characters, smooth animation ugh! It has potential. I just wish it has been advertised more by Disney.
I watched the movie and liked it, too. Except for the characters representing random minorities. A dog with three legs? Why? Besides that, the movie was fine.

I can see where people are drawing the Treasure Planet comparisons, I'm definitely getting those vibes as it's a big sci-fi adventure and there's probably a lot of lore in the setting.

I watched the movie and can guarantee that this doesn't reveal the plot.
People keep saying this reveals the important plot points meanwhile I don't see any major plot reveals. It's quite obvious that the dad is in most of the movie and isn't meant to be a surprise reveal.

@@gost3480 what will be strange about this though is the ratio. Yes movie trailers get more views than the movie but when there's a phenomenal gap to the point the movie doesn't make back it's profits then the trailer showed that the movie has nothing of value to go see.

I really like how they have some voice lines visibly not syncing up with the character animations in the trailer. It's the next step in the evolution of ADR. Once they just inserted the voice clip when the character wasn't on-screen, now they don't even care anymore.

I absolutely love the animation art style here! It looks visually beautiful. The characters movements feels straight out of a 2D animated feature film. That’s really impressive. And i love Sci-Fi stories so that’s a plus. Well done, Walt Disney Animation Studios. Can’t wait to see this movie 🍿

Watched Disney's STRANGE WORLD. I enjoyed the story very much. If I could describe it, I'd say it's like "Journey to the Center of the Earth" meets James Cameron's "Avatar" meets Disney's "A Goofy Movie," though not as silly. 🤣

Atlantis and Treasure Planet were both bangers. I guess they didn’t do well in theaters or whatever but they have high quality world building and story-telling
It's because they weren't as diverse... Yeah.. that's the reason.
Treasure planet was pretty much left to die to say "2d animation isn't profitable anymore" by Disney. They made basically a winnie the pooh remake and princess and the frog afterwards and were done. Making a 3d CGI film in the veign of a film anyone whose actually seen it loves it (treasure planet) with more "modern" characters is honestly a pretty smart move. Just hope it lives up to the hype, seems a bit overly jokey to me.
It's weird to think how hated Disney is now. What a shame.

It's nice that they make everyone minorities or female and have the father be totally absent and have a scene that explains their absence. Very real I see it all the time.
At 0:14, that gives me serious Tarzan vibes (also Coco because Hector's face from the family photo was ripped off). Also at 1:37, that fellow there definitely reminds me of Morph from Treasure Planet. I love some of these callbacks to previous Disney films (I know Coco is Pixar, but still wanted to note that similarly I saw with the compass photo).
Can't wait to see another sci-fi adventure from Disney! I look forward to seeing how this world works and what this adventure is like! Also excited to know that Jake Gyllenhaal is now in a WDAS film! 😁

I’ve seen this movie in 3D yesterday and OMG!!! This movie is going to deserve to win the Oscar for the best animated feature film next year on March 2023.

The problem with Disney is that they never put the name of the director in front. The director is the reason why the movie will be good or bad. DON HALL (Big Hero 6) directed Strange World. If you liked Big H 6, you will like this one. Same director, same music composer.

This feels like a homage to Treasure Planet in some ways and I love it
Please, that movie looks nothing like Treasure Planet. The only common point that they have is they both are box office flop. And while Treasure Planet absolutely NOT deserved this, Strange World deserved it. Not because it’s « woke » (I hate those people) but because it’s genuinely bad. Except the universe. The universe of that movie is really good.
going to go see this on Sunday purely out of spite! because Disney's efforts to attempt to bury this film alive are so disgusting that malicious compliance is the only way to go! :)

Glad to see Jake and Dennis take on more voice roles. They have the perfect voices for animation and comedy.

I too, was a wicked sinner of the world before I opened my heart to God. I am living proof of God's work and fruitfulness! He is an active God who hears the prayers of his! God's children are set apart (holy) and righteous. The devil is a liar that comes to steal, to kill, and to destroy; that includes your relationship with God!
Disney disabled the dog by removing a leg. Disney also disabled their animation department by filling it with hacks.

The trailer for this movie is misleading, and I can't tell if they did it on purpose so that people wouldn't actually know what the movie was about or whether to dissuade people from seeing it. It's a good movie! Good for children and fun in general. It's especially fun for the older people to make connections as they're watching it and getting more and more invested as they work out what's going on
the movie was awesome the plot was really nice and showed some great father ,son, grandfather relationship . great movie with lots of laughs
This looks more like a Dreamworks movie. I saw the poster of it at the theater, thinking it was for a movie coming out in 2023. After watching the trailer it looks like something that would come out in early 2010's.

This is some great looking experimental film Disney is working on. The art style has a pretty different look than any other Disney flick. I’m looking forward to this! I just hope it doesn’t bomb like treasure planet however

My 9 year old son and I watched up to the point when he asked me what flirting was when two of young boys start flirting with each other (there also a dramatic change in the music and close ups of them in awe of each other). It’s the story an interracial couple and a son with homosexual tendencies who try to save the world by growing vegetables.
why would you mention that its an interracial couple? what's wrong with a 9 year old seeing charachters flirting in a kids movie?
