- There are an endless number of incredible stories that have come to life when girls are supported by One Girl Can. Each girl’s journey is unique, however one common theme that prevails is the positive impact that their families also experience.
We wanted to shed some light on the struggles faced by parents who experience extreme financial hardship. One such story is of a single mother, Elizabeth, who couldn’t afford high school fees for either of her daughters, Royashley and Winslet. Elizabeth struggled constantly to raise money for fees, until the day she heard from the school that both girls had been awarded One Girl Can scholarships for outstanding performance.
With support from generous donors, they were able to excel consistently at high school, and went on to earn One Girl Can university scholarships as well. Elizabeth is beyond grateful that her girls were able to achieve a level of education she never thought possible. Through their success, Elizabeth’s entire family will rise above poverty one day and her daughters will become role models for many other girls who they will help to follow in their footsteps.
Over the next few days leading up to Giving Tuesday, we will be sharing more about this wonderful story and how much your support means to families just like that of Elizabeth, Royashley and Winslet.
