It's a shame that I started playing roblox a bit too late to meet him (around 2016), though if I had started any earlier, I would have been too young to process the significance of it. When revisiting this video, I recently deleted a comment of mine here from 3 years ago along the lines of "Roblox has tarnished Erik Cassel's legacy with what has been done with the platform since his death" because I thought that it may have been disrespectful in the moment that I saw it. Though, when I reflected upon of the current state of roblox and the other things they've been doing with the platform, I realize that it wasn't such a bold claim. A prime example of this is Roblox doing shitty things in an attempt to force every user to conform to its standards of what creativity should be, for instance refusing to support new avatar features for R6 when it would be entirely possible, and then claiming that R6 itself is the problem as an excuse to phase it out, or taking mass amounts of faces offsale for no reason other than to force people to use dynamic heads. There are also other things like Roblox's complete failure of a moderation system, and the horrible, cataclysmic audio copyright solution that crippled roblox fun and development permanently, which was the 2022 audio update. (RUclips has a frighteningly effective Content ID system, why can't Roblox create the same with its billions?) And David has the gall to claim that Erik would be proud.
It's like the song represents what Erik went through. The sad start is when he found he had cancer. The action middle is when he was fighting it. And the sad ending is when he passed away after fighting his hardest. I never played in 2012 but he seemed like a great person. RIP

Fellow old-school boi here(2008). I think I speak for most of us when I say I will still bow to Erik. No question. Coming back to the game after 4 or so years, I am heartbroken at what it's become. I knew there was a reason I quit in the first place. The game may be getting more features, but it just feels empty. I remember sitting at the PC for hours at end and enjoy whatever tycoon or obby I was playing, sometimes into all hours of the night. This was 10 years ago now. Time has done a number on me and the world. Geez, I sound like an old man reminiscing on their childhood, yet I'm only 18. I guess what I'm saying is that there will be games that will always have a special place in your heart. Roblox was that game for me. I sure hope it will continue to be for kids well into the 2020's. I cry because the game is corrupted, copyright just hates us, and Erik was a great person, if he was still alive, ROBLOX wouldn't be a place for developers, it'd be that little indie game you waste time in like in 2013. ROBLOX would still be the same, besides the new DevEx wouldn't exist. Please, if someone died, just think about what they did instead of saying the thing (s)he made is going downhill. Its like Edd Gould. Majority of the community miss him because he was a great person. Some of the community just think after he died, Eddsworld went downhill. Please. I only care about Erik because he was a nice person who helped out the game. RIP Erik Cassel (December 16th, 1967 - February 11th, 2013) We will miss you.

I know, I didn't even knew about roblox in 2013, because I was only 2yro. But I am getting sad every time, when I remember Erik. I know he was a very good person, but Erik unfortunately got beaten by cancer. He is a legend and I don't care about roblox updates without him. I wish he was alive.

I think I speak for most of us when I say I will still bow to Erik. No question.
Coming back to the game after 4 or so years, I am heartbroken at what it's become.
I knew there was a reason I quit in the first place. The game may be getting more features, but it just feels empty.
I remember sitting at the PC for hours at end and enjoy whatever tycoon or obby I was playing, sometimes into all hours of the night.
This was 10 years ago now. Time has done a number on me and the world.
Geez, I sound like an old man reminiscing on their childhood, yet I'm only 18.
I guess what I'm saying is that there will be games that will always have a special place in your heart. Roblox was that game for me. I sure hope it will continue to be for kids well into the 2020's.

this might come as a shocker but i was mostly neutral when i found out but i can understand why you are all upset
ever since i have pondered “what would roblox look like if he won or never got it?”

Now, I do still play Roblox, but not like I used to, mostly making my own things and not so much playing other's games. But, hell, even the game that replaced Roblox for me is falling into the same hole of corporate BS. (Minecraft).
If you want to experience old Roblox yourself, I'd recommend you look into Novetus, as it has a bunch of classic versions from 2007 to 2011.

I joined in 2011 and from what I remember, 2013 really is when things started to change on ROBLOX. I recall technology advancing in ROBLOX but something was missing. The vibe of ROBLOX changed especially for those in war clans who saw their golden age in the spotlight of the platform slowly dissolve.
