  • After much delay, the Confederate assault on the Union left flank begins. This video covers the intense artillery fight. It does not include Ewell's half-hearted attempt to suppress Cemetery Hill.

Brilliant! Thank you! I actually did a car tour through the battlefield and also watched a re-enactment south of town, but never fully understood the Wheatfield until I saw this

What if Longstreet had Pickett's division on the 2nd day? Would the attack had been successful if Longstreet had his entire Corp available?

If Sickles hadn't disobeyed Meade and put his troops in the wrong place there would have been no day 3. The reason Lee attacked on day 3 was because he didn't realize the full extent of what happened on day 2. Day 3 was a duplicate of day 2 except Meade's troops were where he intended them to be. No way to flank him and no way to take the position head on.
Meade had a poor relationship with the reporters and did not get the positive coverage he should have gotten. Some of his accomplishments were attributed to others by the press at the time because of their dislike for Meade.

Really liked how you super imposed the Google maps with the Bachelder maps. Keep up the good work, really enjoy the detail you bring.

Terrain maps are quite helpful. Seeing a battlefield such as, say, Antietam, you realize how hilly it really was, and how it affected the battle. You don't get that from flat, two-dimensional maps.

Outstanding. I am planning on being there both days, so I will stop by. As I recall the 1st WV Cavalry was part of Farnsworth's Brigade during the campaign. Alright, see you guys this weekend.
