- Join us as we head to Great Yarmouth in Norfolk England UK and visit Joyland for the very first time
Joyland is a historical free entry children’s amusement park that opened in 1949 by Horace Cole and is home to many classic rides such as the famous Snails, Neptune’s Fortune, Jet Cars and the Tyrolean Tub Twist the world’s last remaining Virginia Reel roller coaster
All the rides are £1 meaning great value for the whole family to enjoy the rides and it is definitely worth a visit if you like your heritage parks
Vlog and on ride povs are all filmed in HD 1080p 60fps using a GoPro Hero 6 with official accessories

My childhood right here, Snails, Tubs, Jet Cars 😃 haven't been since early 90s, but great memories
The Tubs are a wood, steel and concrete construction. The top of the slope is a wooden/steel frame. The tubs run on roughly 2inch (100mm) thick wooden boards with steel plate screwed on top. On the last part of the downhill it changes to concrete, with the steel bolted in. The tubs themselves are driven by a single ĺ 2hp DC electric motor chain driving a solid axle. One side of the track will be positive, the other negative. A similar system is used on the Snails and Seahorses.
OMG did this bring back memories of when my little girl was a child. She's 28 now and I would love to been able to have brought my grandchild here. We live abroad so that not possible right now. However, It is a great family day out for children. You brought all those memories back....Thx
Trish Reid I love Joyland, yes it’s mainly for kids but love the classic feel and the rides are very unique
Love seeing my hometown on here and your enthusiasm man, need more people to visit GY!
Today was my mums funeral when I was a child she used to take me here I'm watching this with tears in my eyes you have brought so many memories back to me . She used to go in joyland herself as a child. Thanks for the memories. Great vlog Andy & Lisa xxx
My family lived in Norfolk a couple of generations back, and even though they've lived in Wales since, it's always been tradition that we go back every year. I was brought up going on these rides and I adored them. I have a baby niece now and I can't wait for her to enjoy it all too! Brilliant video, brought back a lot of memories, thank you 😄
I spent my childhood in GT Yarmouth I am 23 now and still look forward to going there in the summer
Alice Crawford it’s a great seaside town with loads to see and do
the snails are a good 50 years old. i rode them back in the 60's
And still run as good today
Going back about 15 years ago to my childhood that's snail ride and rocket twister pods were a pure classic . Great Yarmouth known as the Golden Beach
Damn so many memories of when I was like 10 the good old days
Me aged 6, 7, 8 and 9 on them snails thinking I was a hardcore coaster rider lol 😂 love Yarmouth, hope to go back soon...used to holiday there every year as a kid!
I remember the Noahs Ark and inside there was a model with skiers going down it..... anyone remember? and i rode the snails many times. Im glad to see this Park still going
Loved the vlog seems really surreal as i live in yarmouth and its nice seeing it from visitors eyes. Also my kids love joyland my mum and dad met there xx
Love your vlog. Brings back happy childhood memories for me and my sister in the 1960's 1970's. The spooky express used to be a Noahs ark with a parrot in it . A smaller version of the old one at Blackpool Pleasure beach (which is no longer in use!) The reel in Blackpool was a great ride you got thrown about as it spun fast.
Going on that snail ride as a kid in the '80s is forever seared in my mind. But I've seen a few videos on YT of it being ridden on in the 1950s!
Oh hey Larry! Love this place so it's awesome that you've been :)
Love the Snails, my childhood favourite.😊
the original Virginia Reel was a wooden coaster but they need alot of maintenance due to perished wood ect so modernising them with metal which is more of a durable material these are also “Side friction” hence the tyres run along the inside of the track and spins the cars its all mainly gravity that moves the cars down the slopes
My childhood and home park with the pleasure beach. I love the tubs! Been going on them since I was a child. Great vlog made me miss home. Before the coaster was there it used to be a Noahs arc walk through like blackpools. Then it was a spaceship before they replaced it with the coaster.
Gavin Wolves yeah I read up on some information about the park in the net and it’s very interesting, I think the park looks great as it is and you would think it had always been like that with the green mountain ! Apparently the Snails is a coaster but it’s not in the RCDB as one so don’t know if it’s a credit or not !?!?
Coaster Crazy well it has some drops and is powered so I would say yes... kind of lol. Looking forward to the pleasure beach vlog Andy.
we were there last friday and i gotta say at age 38 i wasnt expecting to enjoy myself so much, but its a wicked little park, spook express was smooth and faster than i thought, the snail ride was fun, shame i didnt do the tub twist though, next time i will. glad you and lisa enjoyed it too
ArcadeMAD haha I think i liked it more than Lisa did, I love old classic parks as it reminds me of being a kid and being taken to parks like this
great vlog andy i'm old enough to remember the snails ride
Wowzers it looks stunning in Great Yarmouth the weather this year has been amazing . Top vlog Andy that park looks great , we will be there a week on Sunday and can't wait to check out the tub twist ride. For a small park it has plenty to offer and only £1 a ride AMAZING value 👍👍
Peter Hamill it’s a bargain mate, the £10 12 token offer is great as there is only the 5 bigger rides you can get on, you two will love it, such a classic little park
I remember coming here when i was like 5 to 8 years old before we was old enough and grown enough to goto pleasure beach, great place for the young ones, but the rides in there haven't really changed in the last 30 years maybe more, as i remember all of those from when i used to go =) but still yarmouths a nice place for all ages =)
Glad you had a great time. Great weather. Great vlog. Just like me a big kid going on rides.
Another great vlog, and another great t-shirt haha. I love Great Yarmouth so much.
Great video always cheer me up, keep up the great work.
What a lovely Vlog of such a lovely little park brought back many happy memories of when our daughter was young and holidays in Yarmouth she loved it cost us a fortune lol , love the way you are so kind to your subscribers full marks mate - Andrew McK
Great vlog love great Yarmouth fond memories good to see Lisa riding to x
Joyland looks fabulous, yet another park I need to visit
Mark Forrest you will love it Mark
It's small but the snails are iconic
Thanks for another great vlog Andy. Can't wait to get on the twist tubs as I would have liked to have experienced the Virginia reel at Blackpool so this is the next best thing. Also the snails and spook express look amazing.
Angela Hamill it’s a lovely little park and I think you and Peter will love it
@@WalkWithMeTim Thanks we'll have a look
Colourful park. Nice vlog again Andy 👍
Wow what a vlog. Love love the look of joyland never been to Great Yarmouth live up north so bit of a trek. But have to make the trip now love the look of all the retro rides so unique and the tubs and spooky coaster look awesome so do the cars and snails. Forget Alton towers I'm going there next weekend lol. Can't wait to watch the other vlog from great yarmouth keep up the amazing job Andy
death strider it’s worth a visit if you go for a weekend and book into a cheap b&b, so much to do on the promenade especially if the weather is good
After the tub twist.... That guy who walked up to entrance when you were filming lives round the corner to me.. Literally. He was wearing a black t-shirt and beige shorts.... More impressive I know if it were on one of your other videos
This is my childhood. I have many memories of this park and it's pretty much the same as it was about 35 years ago. The only differences are that there used to be a rocking space ship where the coaster is now and before that a Noah's Ark if I remember correctly (And there used to be a window you could see down in to the Neptune ride). The tubs also had more greenery and lights hanging above the track. Such a great park and one I continue to go to even though my kids are getting a bit old for it, they still love it. Great video.
Adam Hickman I remember the spaceship and the Noah's Ark rings a bell! Can't remember the window down into Neptune's kingdom though!
Sure it was something else before Neptune's but can't remember what the theme was!
i remember Noahs Ark and there was a model with skiers inside
Great video andy what some great classic rides
Fantastic vlog. There are some great fun rides there. Love the Tub Twist - I’m old enough to remember going on The Reel at Blackpool the year it got demolished and that’s as close as we’ll ever get now!
Walk With Me Tim Will check ‘em out!
@@RogEdwardsTV thanks
Thx I’m going to Great Yarmouth tomorrow and also thx for showing me around
Fortnite Lover no problem
The tubs are good to.. I know I live here... Down the road 1 mile the pleasure beach. Bigger better rides for older kids adults..
Some really great unique rides Andy, enjoyed that.
I thought the new Jurassic World film was outstanding Andy, yeah I agree it’s not better than the original but it’s still awesome! Great film and a fantastic vlog too mate 👍
Joyland looks fantastic! Went to great Yarmouth last summer just to walk along the beach, if you look carefully they actually have seals living there. sorry it's a big thing for me as we don't get things like that in the south haha.
Ruben Warren yeah we saw the sign for seal watching boat tours and something that would be really good to do
Great Yarmouth has loads of attractions it’s a great day out or even long weekend away for couples and families
+Coaster Crazy Oh yes. Norfolk in general is a beautiful place. I love great yarmouth and Norwich and there are lots of lovely little country parks. And obviously tonnes of attractions.
That park is amazing, all the rides remind me of ghost trains :) my kids would love it there - great vlog mate
Another great vlog! 👍

Also I've never known a man of this age get so excited at a ride at the fun fair .I think I did at 15 !!! But I suppose in this day n age there are so many miserable sods about it's quite refreshing lol ! Kinda lol!!
Paul Simpson thanks, kinda lol
Couldn't believe how cheap this park was, we had great fun especially on the tubs. Bargain park with some real classics
UK Theme Parks I loved the place so much charm and heritage and yes it’s definitely a bargain
I’ve heard there is a new sort of permanent ‘fair park’ if you know what I mean, going to Wrexham, North East Wales in around 3 months time. Might want to check it out? Also have you been to Greenwood Fforest Parc?
Nice vlog as always.
Planning to go there in about 2 weeks time. Are there any cheap parking spaces around the beach?
Cranky Pants sorry but I actually have no idea, only ever been to Great Yarmouth twice but is did see a car park that was £7 all day, across the road from Joyland and Britannia Pier
I went on spooky express back in the 90s loved it
I love joyland I saw u there sadly a girl died at the beach on the slides rip :( btw I love the spook express at joyland I went there yesterday

Good times!
Going tomorrow for week of Yarmouth parks ❤️
Michael Chapman awesome 👍🏻👍🏻
i am tommy and i am also a fan of your pov's
It must cost u a fortune going to all these funfair and parks, but on the otherhand your videos are brilliant.
Emz Lou not really, like you saw it was only £10 for 12 tokens here so less then buying 2 drinks in a pub, neither of us drink or go out so this is our thing we like to do 👍🏻
Its brilliant on what u do. I dont drink either, I always worry that i wont fit on anything and get stuck lol
Today its been 1 year since i discovered your channel
My mum was 5 when the tubs opened x
I love coasters
I think I've done every ride in there x
So so song love your vids
Good video Andy. With regards to counting coasters. Is something like Steeple Chase 1 or 3 credits?
Gypsymuffin that’s a tough one as it’s classed as one coaster but technically it’s 3 separate ones so it’s up to you what you wanted class it as
I'm going there in august
Kieren Little awesome 👍🏻👍🏻
I’m subbing
Fortnite Lover thank you for subscribing
It’s fine bro
Good video
Eerie how different the world seemed before Covid.
Next time you go to great Yarmouth if you want free parking drive past the pleasure beach past the taxis on the left you can park for free along there 🤫 we do it everytime.
Thanks for the tip
some of the kids rides peapple can go on the pirate ship its not just that is and the spiney ride next to the wheel
looks a bit cramped im not sure how i missed this when i went to yarmouth
luke4smith it’s very cramped but is definitely worth a visit
Hi Andy. Have you ever been to Stourport
Ian Martin yep ruclips.net/video/c9TyJJWkcvA/видео.html
What happened to the Noah's Ark and the miniture trains ... ??
Think they went a long time ago
im going there soon
which waffle-pancake place did you call at?
David Roberts it’s called Pancake & Waffle Shack and it’s on the way to Norwich just after Cambridge on the A11 at Barton Mills
I wouldn't count the snails as a coster
firework crazy I wouldn’t either but it says it’s a roller coaster on Wikipedia but not on the Roller Coaster Database
🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇
This park would be alright with a little log flume lol
Theme Park Fanatic yeah if there was room for one lol 😂
His wife must be so bored with him filming and talking non stop I'd give him a couple of sleeping pills !!
Paul Simpson haha she’s not my wife lol 😂
@@Coaster_Crazy well now you know why lol I'm only joking tho lol
1st
Kuba YT05 that’s a lie.
A BIG LET DOWN FOR ME ,ON THIS VIDEO. BUT THANKS ANYWAY.
just the way this looks a big let down .Amazing for who? not for some adults like me ,more for the children
I'm just saying.
Christine Rodriguez how is a big let down ? It’s a tiny children’s fun park in fact it’s probably one of if not the smallest park in the world and it has so much charm and history around it ! Yeah ok it’s not for everyone but if you enjoy classic rides and something a bit different then it’s a fun little place and it’s cheap
