Great Video's Curtis, I enjoy learning from you, perhaps on you next heat pump service call, you could go over on your probe placement, piston vs tx. Great video's again, can't wait for the next one, cheers
Probably a call where the owner was having issues and thought some maintenance would fix it. Which is not uncommon. Sometimes units are beyond help and replacing them is the economic solution. Good work.
Curtis, I say that about Christmas Eve and Christmas Day too but then I get emergency calls and a way I go hopefully not this year. We’ll see how it goes. Stay safe and have a Merry Christmas.🇺🇸👊🏼👊🏼✌🏼
Leak is pretty substantial. good find. That Trane has run out of track. I had the old one 36 years ago, it took Katrina to kill it. It was getting rusty but worked like a charm. It's the old saying, they don't make them like they use to. Good video
I got tired of having to oil my Klein diagonal cutters from trimming bushes with them. I ended up putting a pair of pruning shears on my van years back that I can use one handed. They have come in clutch and I can cut branches that are just over an inch thick too. Holly bushes and roses are a royal pain. People don't consider the service man when setting up their landscaping. Thanks for the video and stay safe out there.
Another great video for learning how to go about regular maintenance and assess if change out is warranted. I hope you get some time off. Merry Christmas ⛄🎄
Heated diode is the way to go. Same as my H10pm it’s a hound dog on r22. Works great on other refrigerants as well. Not sure about the new refrigerants. For an ir unit that seems to work pretty good. I’ll stick with my H10 for now. I have a infrared detector like the one you fixed on camera lol
Hey Curtis, of HVAV Guy not easy being cheesy. I like your podcast/social media, looking thru some comments??? Those all steel frame coils only last 25 years tops. But again it was an engineer who design that coil, not an scientist. Those coils are just some big old thermocouple/battery and will corrode the copper tubing. Looks like time for new up grade. Love you buddy, happy holidays.
Does your PM service include landscaping? I think if put a blurb in there somthing like " Customer is responsible for keeping foliage at least ENTER inches from outdoor unit, and changing filters ENTER. blah blah blah. Merry Christmas Curtis, and thanks for the knowledge and entertainment!
I remember long ago I had to use acid to clean a condenser coil and surely it burned some grass around the unit. They called my boss to complain. He told them what to do! LOL
Great catch might as well condemn the whole system try to sell that new inverter system for sure and tell him to trim the shrubs and explain to customers how those shrubs ruined his system by not letting airflow over it therefore overheating the system etc…. Merry christmas
What is the main difference between the Fieldpiece DR82 and DR58 besides the price? I’m still using my old CPS LS780A and this thing has about had it and I’m ready to upgrade.
there are sequencer start relay there, if not it would have burned up the main relay switch. NEC all electric motors and electric heat shall rated for 125% for it's normal ampere rating.
You just tell people how important it is to keep the plants away from the equipment. Yet they still let bushes grow up and all around, and still don't understand why if falls...

Why should they?; the service people get scratched and hurt! LOL

Thanks

Merry Christmas! I hope this leak detector does a lot better than some of the others you've tried.
Thanks, Merry Christmas to you too!
will it be a "Twas a Changeout before Christmas"? tune in next time to find out :P
DR82 is a beast
They need to make driver sockets with magnets in them.
And then the mfd will use brass nuts! lol

And here I get bitched at for stepping on the hydrangeas😖

You need a knipex twin grip
Great catch might as well condemn the whole system try to sell that new inverter system for sure and tell him to trim the shrubs and explain to customers how those shrubs ruined his system by not letting airflow over it therefore overheating the system etc…. Merry christmas
Very true but I doubt the customer will believe you!

58 is a heated diode, 82 is infrared
Is a heat strip thats controlled by a contactor instead of a sequencer hard on the electrical system? Can it lead to brownouts?
there are sequencer start relay there, if not it would have burned up the main relay switch. NEC all electric motors and electric heat shall rated for 125% for it's normal ampere rating.
Contactors are a lot cheaper than sequencers.!!!
You just tell people how important it is to keep the plants away from the equipment. Yet they still let bushes grow up and all around, and still don't understand why if falls...
keeping the coil clean is key for keeping system in balance, having good air flow is the secord key.
@@everettstevenson2111 No point to tell them. Just charge them more for the job since you'll spend extra time to complete work.
Jumpwr white and green sametime on them heatstrips they are weird
Nvr mind i see u figured it out lol
rachiting screw diver phase change on condenser side
with heat
temp
f-in heat strips
