I noticed you praise him with “good boy” and a pet but you do not give a treat. I think this is a very good move. He learns to respond to voice. I like the way your training this little puppy.
JACOB, YOU HAVE TO REALIZE, WHEN HE GETS EXCITED WHEN YOU ARE TALKING TO THE CAMERA, IT IS BECAUSE HE THINKS YOU ARE TALKING TO HIM.. HE DOESN'T HAVE ANY CONCEPT OF THAT CAMERA OR RUclips.. HE ONLY HEARS YOU TALKING 'TO HIM' . SO NATURALLY HE WILL RESPOND TO YOU TALKING 'TO HIM'.. I see it happen all the time on youtube. lol. what a cutie pie, soo adorable. :))
I think you guys are doing a great job training Moses! You are actually training both Moses AND the other animals to get used to each other. The chickens will quickly lose their fear of him when they notice that hes not going after them.
You've got the most important thing down with Moses - being consistent. If you get 10 dog trainers you will get 25 different ways to do something!! Moses is a lucky pup, having someone who cares and want him to be a success.
I agree with teaching Moses a specific hand signal for each verbal command. You may some day be in a position when a verbal command is just not practical, but you can still convey the command to Moses and he will understand what is expected of him. You will be amazed at how quickly he will learn the hand commands along with the verbal commands. He's such a smart little guy and I'm very proud of the progress he's made already. Hugs to Y'all
When my husband was training our dogs when he didn’t want them following him he would say stay and then over time moved further away we live in a town and our dog won’t come out our gate unless we say come Ruby that’s her name Moses is so cute you guys are doing an awesome job best of luck
Moses is really responding well to his training. He's wants to please you and he has good natural instinct. I think he's going to be a good lgd for you. Plus he's such a cutie pie!! He's got it all and good parents, too😍
You got lucky with that one he is absolutely adorable and super well-mannered and seems really smart. Very impressive especially considering how young he is.
Here's a tip...go to hands talk and learn basic sign language and use it with training him...I did this with my dogs.. stop, no, come sit, hush are reinforced with signals he can see...the stop is super effective and sometimes you dont want to give away commands verbal that everyone one knows..that way when its neccessary to be quite and stealthy....when dealing with predators or trespassers it can be quite handy...js
Yes, @Jennifer Cullison. Hand signs along with verbal during training. @Sawyer Ridge Farm..Also, when you feed him make him sit and wait until you give the signal with your hand signal that it is okay to eat. "Leave it" is another good command. Oh one more. Since you will be keeping him outside in the pen identify that as "home" so if there is a situation and he gets sidetracked you can say "home" or "house" and he knows that he better get over there. Moses is a sweet dog and it seems he is a quick learner.
And they are specific to you...another advantage...hes your guardian dog for the whole homestead..and you are of his pack...dogs are def pack animals..and they protect the whole pack...which is why you are doing awesome introducing him to your pack...js
Moses is adorable. I like how he was mostly non reactive to the other animals. I also loved how you gave him positive reinforcement when he obeyed the rules.
Moses seems to be learning really well, can't wait to see him full grown and fully trained! You are doing a great job on your farm with your wife. So happy for both of you, God bless you both.
Jacob and Alex I am very impressed. I do train dogs but not guardian dogs. So not qualified to comment on what you are doing. I knew as soon as I saw the no entry training you all were doing a wonderful job. 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻🐾🐾
Being praised along with an affectionate pat, is the only reward that a dog needs and wants. Needing a treat for good behavior is a bad, learned habit. When pack animals obey their leader(first their moms), they don't recieve a treat from the leader of the pack.....just sayin'
You have got you a very smart pup he catches on very quick. I’m so happy for both of you congratulations on the good work with Moses. God Bless all of you and your animals 🙏🙏🙏🌻🌻🌻🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
Teaching a dog sign language with your commands is a good idea. If your dog can only see you but not hear you due to distance or as they get older it is a blessing. I taught our dog to do that and one day I happened to have my hand in a fist position on my chest which was her cue to "speak". All the sudden she barked at me and startle me. I could not figure out why she barked until I realized I had inadvertently given her the command to "speak". She was not the brightest dog I ever had but she did know hand commands and the names of people and her toys. Your pup is very smart and learning quickly. I like him very much. He will be a good helper on the farm.
Wow, he's learning fast. Dang. One smart pup you got there. Beautiful too. I just love his markings and colors. He did awesome with the chickens. That's a really good sign. If he don't mess with them, the smaller animals, then... He's just as calm as can be around them all. He just wanted to lay in the shade lol Heard him whine a little but never heard him bark, especially at the animals. Looks like you got a good one. Good job with him. God bless you all and keep you safe
Jason and Alex, watching y'all train Moses, I can tell that someday, when you are ready to have children, you are going to make great parents! Great job training Moses!
Like the old saying goes practice makes perfect. I had a hard time at training my dog Ginger as she was hard headed. So I'm glad your starting out young. Thank God she did help me pass the dog obedience class. Moses is so adorable and in time he will catch on. Surly did enjoy watching. Also so sweet of Daniel to ware your shirt on his channel. Be safe and God Bless.
I am so impressed with Moses. Thats one smart pup. Plus he is so darn cute !! you two are doing a great job with him. I myself would be like come on Moses lets go cuddle in the AC baby ;)
Moses is very smart you can see it in his face. He will give back 100% of what you put into teaching him while he is small. I think you guys are doing a super great job. I am sure you will get plenty of advice. My three tips are. 1. Don't over use the word no... Cause after awhile no will mean nothing to him. Correct by making a louder mouth noise that will get his attention and use the same noise every time to correct. 2. Use a hand signal along with words to give him commands. Like plam of hand up and out to sit. Pointer finger pointing to the ground to lay. Any hand sign will do as long as your consistent. That way if Moses ever has hearing problems you can still communicate or if you lose your voice. 3. Lots of love, phrases and a treat at random for doing well. Carry in your pocket. He is really doing well. Keep up the awesome work with him. You will get it back 100%. 🐕 🌝
Hello! Jacob & Alex 👋😆💕🐐🐕🐷🐓🐴📹👍. Moses is beautiful, smart and a quick learner he's gonna be a great livestock guardian. Thanks for sharing and God bless ya'll...
You two are doing a great job he is learning what you need from him and you are so loving with him he is pleased to do what you want.. am sure he will be the guard dog you are after, like Bear from ARMS farm.
As a retired "old "Dr in Australia, ahahaha, have to share with you that the variety of subject matter you cover in your videos, and the no nonsense and joyful way you both present yourselves makes it almost compulsory viewing for me .I think you are very much going to emulate the success of Daniel Arms and his videos... much the same, lots of very different, fun and informative subjects covered in a very normal/real respectful way.
You are doing great! Bonding is important and keep socializing make sure you have him around people and kids too. When I just rescued the kittens mine took right to the kittens. They seem to understand they are babies and need our help .All 6 of my German Shepherds want to mother the kittens.Mosses is smart I can tell he learning fast.My dogs know not to go out the gate and don't even try .Mine know from my reaction when something is wrong too they all listen .I had a bat in my bathroom and by my reaction they knew I was very upset and I got them all in my bedroom and they stayed without one bark till I got the bat out .Good boy Mosses !!
YOU GUYS ARE DOING GREAT WITH MOSES’ TRAINING. HE IS DOING SO GOOD, NO HE IS DOING GREAT IN MY OPINION. I KNOW HE SURE IS A HANDSOME BOY. I HEARD DANIEL GIVE YALL A SHOUT OUT ON HIS LAST VIDEO TWICE. I THOUGHT IT WAS SUPER NICE OF HIM TO DO THAT.I THINK YOUR CHANNEL IS GOING TO GROW REALLY QUICK BECAUSE YOU GUYS HAVE SUCH GREAT CONTENT, YOU’RE VERY INFORMATIVE AND YOUR PERSONALITIES JUST MAKE PEOPLE WANT TO WATCH. YOU WILL BE SUCCESSFUL YOU TUBERS FOR SURE. GOD BLESS YOU BOTH. 💕🇺🇸💕🇺🇸💕🇺🇸
I agree with Jennifer to use hand signals with your words. I always talk to my dogs when training them. Like let's go to the barn. Feed the pigs. Feed the goats. So he will learn the meaning of words. Y'all are doing a great job with Moses.
Moses is an awesome little puppy,I think you found the best dog for the job,I am looking forward to see him when he gets older, looks like your doing an amazing job with him
I would also train him not to eat anything but what you or Alex give him. No food he finds on the ground or from a stranger. I use a loud "EHH" instead of a "No" with my hand up in the stop position. It really gets their attention and they learn that stop hand signal quickly. He's doing great, smart pup and a beautiful one too.
You guys are doing great and Moses is to. I sure learned a lot about training dogs from this video. He is a sweetie pie. God bless you guys. Stay safe.
OMgoodness...Moses is adorable! Between him and Daisy Mae, Jared Crockers new pup...I think you guys are doing an excellent job training and desensitizing him to various farm animals...the more he sees/smells them and them to him...the less chance of trouble...and...you are doing a great job having him respect you as the head dog...love seeing him and really think you guys have the training down great!
Moses is such a good pup. Your both doing a great job training him. He's sure to be a great livestock guardian and also protect his humans as well. I hope you have a wonderful evening, God bless. 🇱🇷🙏
Alex and Jacob you are doing very well. My sister was a paid trainer and showed Siberian Huskies and she taught me to use my dog's name as I was training them. She even came over and helped me and they never were confused, I have two small dogs now one is almost 8 and the other one is almost 2 they learned commands with their names as you both are doing. If you’re putting him in the goat pin for a while, create some shade for him. It’s really hot out there to have the sun just beaming down on you with no relief. In the chicken pin he found shade under the truck camper shell and at the rabbit hutch he laid next to it in the shade. In the goat pin he found a little shade under the water trough. So he’s definitely hot and wanting some shade.
Moses is doing well and a great student. The teachers are doing well with him. Thank you for the update not just on Moses but seeing the animals. God bless and stay safe 🙏❤ 🐾🐾
Moses is one smart pup. I think you are doing it right. I agree on physical praise rather than treats. Dogs can get used to treats. Correct him in the act, not later. Get him used to farm equipment noises. I think you are on the right path and Moses is very smart. Your farm animals can probably sense he is no threat. I advise getting him neutered when he gets older. It will prevent him from running off when a female in heat is near. Good luck and we all love Moses.
Thank you Mary! We decided to give praise and love when a command is done correctly instead of treats. A treat may not always be available, and some dogs get bored with treats, but almost all love to be loved!
I noticed you praise him with “good boy” and a pet but you do not give a treat. I think this is a very good move. He learns to respond to voice. I like the way your training this little puppy.
Thank you Betpat, I like the non treat method personally
Moses is doing great staying at the doorway. you guys are doing a great job too hehe..
You are putting in the work with Moses and it will pay off. He is enjoying his new home and his new job. 🐾🐾
Thank you Gayle! We completely agree! 😊

i think Moses is doing a great job learning when he grows up i think he will be a great dog for your farm God bless u 'll
Yes when he does good
Give a treat
The three P's Patience, Persistence and purpose. He is doing great! His momma has it naturally. Glad you got him
Fourth P practice. 10 min drill twice a day reviewing known commands to consolidate and extend the distance you are from Moses.

I found stop, be quite and no are very very handy..I'm a single older female that lives alone so I use these often for self protection..js
Those are good tips Jennifer thank you.
Yes, @Jennifer Cullison. Hand signs along with verbal during training.

Handsome little

Thank you Clara! 😊
He needs a treat to be rewarded for doing good! I love how well he is learning!❤🐾❤
Being praised along with an affectionate pat, is the only reward that a dog needs and wants.
Needing a treat for good behavior is a bad, learned habit. When pack animals obey their leader(first their moms), they don't recieve a treat from the leader of the pack.....just sayin'
He really is doing great! He still has a bunch of puppy still in him...which is impressive.
He definitely is doing good right now.
Moses is doing a great job. I think he is going to help your farm a lot.

You have got you a very smart pup he catches on very quick. I’m so happy for both of you congratulations on the good work with Moses. God Bless all of you and your animals 🙏🙏🙏🌻🌻🌻🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
Watching your puppy makes my heart happy. We had to put our dog down yesterday and I’m devastated right now so this heals my heart just a little bit.

Smart little Moses. 👍☺
Good way to get Moses up to speed...Basic commands for pups>>>> SIT-----COME------STAY
When walking on theleadh. Always on your left side and say heal when he wants to stop andsnif.
You do what you feel is the right information. It is your dog and you know what he needs to do but he is doing fantastic.
Thank you Sandra! We’ll continue to use his name with a command. I’ve heard lots of positives about doing that. 👍
Moses is doing really well for his age...
Moses is doing so well! Great Job!
Hi guys
He seems to be adjusting very well in his training
He's such a good looking puppy
So cute! Good job guys. -much love from NJ ~Mary & fam
Wow he really is smart for a puppy.
Moses is doing great! I really like your training techniques.
Thank you! 😊
He has shade in the goat pen.
He's off to a good start, that little Moses, he did well with the chickens too. God bless..
Great job Jacob , Moses is learning quickly he is so darn cute . Blessings for you all thx for letting us follow you on your farm 💕🙏

Thank you Jennifer! I’m glad you enjoyed it! 😊
That was cute when you put Moses in with the Chickens and he was whining a little.....awwww.
He said they're my size...what the heck.....:)
Lol. Yeah, he really doesn’t like being left in there. But he’s just gotta get used to the chickens.
So sweet puppy
Awesome job Jacob, Alex, & little Moses!!! Moses is a smart little guy & is learning so fast.
Keep up the great work! It's paying off. Xs &
Moses is a great pup! Your doing great training him.
