It is NOT "FOUNTAIN Ferry" it's FON-TAINE Ferry!! Just look at the lettering over the main entrance! Sad to see eminent historian Tom Owens getting this wrong! I got taken there a couple of times as a kindergartener/preschooler before integration. I had zero awareness of the social issues. Have some good (but fuzzy) memories!
Short - the park was desegregated and then it was immediately destroyed and burned down. The end.
