    Sad passing of Joy Web.
She was a gifted composer of music . If she had been in the commercial music world she would have been recognised as one of the greats in the last 50 years. She has left a body of work that will live on . Millions of children have sang it was on a starry night at school. RIP

You are right, Bev. I like the songs (this song in particular) from the Joy Strings too. In the seventies I met them in Tivoli, Utrecht, Holland. I am fortunate in having more singles and EP's from this Salvation Army group. (My father and mother were offcicers of the army in Holland for many years).
      Greatings, Charles

Charles Groot Hello Charles. Lovely to "meet" you. I worked at the Salvation Army Shop in Adelaide in South Australia from 1963 to 1970. It was a very busy time when the Joystrings released their first and subsequent discs. I did not get to meet them, but loved their music and still have a few of their records stashed in a cupboard in the spare room. I forwarded this RUclips clip to my daughter today - she lives in Townsville in Queensland and I live on a farm north of Adelaide in South Australia. Today a friend of my daughter died after a very short battle with liver cancer. They are all in shock in the circle of family and friends in Townsville so I sent this as a hope it will be of some comfort.

I went to an evening with the Joy Strings when I was at college in the early 60s and was very impressed.

So glad we also recorded this in Abbey Road. In the Albert Hall version a certain SA official made sure my mic wasn't up in the mix and didn't want the song on the album. Sitting in the sound booth with the producers they told me he derided almost every note. However, an EMI producer told him, 'B......d,. If you don't have this track, you don't have an album. We walk out.' Those were the days! Love flows more readily toward us in retrospect.

Bernard is gone, God forgive his attitude.
The Army now I most places is more progressive, and open.
However, where you have imperfect people, you have had and will continue to have these antics.
God bless you for that music. It is more relevant than ever.

Music styles may have changed in the past 50 years, but the affirmations of this song remain sure!
