    To me, your channel is the most informative by far! Not a whole lot of flash but tons of content! I’ve played some Theo Wanne, Vandoren, Selmer, and links, but I would LOVE To hear your take on the Jody jazz giant! To me it sounds wonderful is extremely complex. It is also a metal mouthpiece disguised to look like a hard rubber. Very open but with a little resistance. It has a certain sizzle to it. I made a review of it but I’m curious to know what you would think

      @@Sirvalorsax I think you should try Mike Wilbur's tenor SYOS piece since you seem to like step baffles and medium/smaller chambers. Just my two cents. Finally decided to order a new mouthpiece. Your channel was super helpful in coming to a decision. Went with a stainless Berg Larsen 110/1 SMS, excited to see how it plays. Have a 4C mouthpiece I could send you if you want. Have no need for it at this point. Was my back-up mpc.

    I know I'm super late, but I bought a tenor sax off of Facebook market place, went to play test it and everything was perfect for what I wanted. It came with a BARI metal tenor 105 mouthpiece. I was wondering if it was worth keeping to just have? I cleaned it and it sounds pretty good, but just wanted a second or third opinion on it

    • @Sirvalorsax

    Impressive amount of mouthpieces. Out of all of those, I like the sound you got from the twins Gary Sugal mouthpieces the most. I had a Yamaha 4C and sold it, and I am thinking of getting another as I recently had an incident with my Selmer S80 C** and need a backup mouthpiece. I recently replaced my Rovner Light ligature I was using with it, with a Francois Louis Ultimate ligature for a more open, free blowing sound. I accidentally scraped the table of the mouthpiece with the Francois Louis ligature plate and somehow chipped the tip of the mouthpiece slightly. Until I can get a new S80, I think maybe I'll get either a Yamaha 5C or 6C as a backup as I wanted a slightly wider tip mouthpiece than the C** 1.65mm tip. I have a JodyJazz HR* 6M mouthpiece and love how freeblowing it is and its sound, but I just need to develop my embouchure to be able to play it without a slight airy sound.

    • @Sirvalorsax
      @Sirvalorsax  5 лет назад

      The ease of play from the Yamaha 4C mouthpiece is very attractive for me playing classical music. I love the tone of the Soloist but WOW that thing has a lot of resistance.

    • @DynamixWarePro
      @DynamixWarePro 5 лет назад

      @@Sirvalorsax I never knew about the resistance of the Soloist as I thought it might be similar to S80 as my S80 seems quite easy to play, maybe not as freeblowing as the JodyJazz HR* I have but not much resistance.I just ordered a Yamaha 7C so I will find out if my S80 has more resistance or less than it but I did like the 4C for how easy it is to play, the only reason I sold mine is that I found the tone a bit restrictive for me and wanted a bigger tip opening.

    Bro, nice job! ….and thanks for following through with this! This gives me more of an idea of what you like in comparison with the others. I like your top tier. How do you feel about your Bril now in comparison with the others? Just thinking that because you played that piece for so long, has it held its place? I recently began playing my modern chrome plated Bril and im really liking it. Been playing it exclusively for the last 3 weeks although I’ve had it for years. Funny how we go through changes and pieces will gain prominence that have not been there previously.
    Also, do you prefer bright to dark sound pieces since most of your top tier I think would fit the bright category.

    Hey Sirvalorsax, I play clarinet main and jazz tenor in my highschool band. I'm going to be graduating this year, and was wondering if you had a particular feeling on the JodyJazz HR* 7*. It was suggested to me by a student teacher who played sax, and I got it. It sounds really good, but I'm not sure how it holds up going into college jazz bands/potential gigs.

    • @Sirvalorsax
      @Sirvalorsax  5 лет назад

      That is a tough call. You might ne playing rock gigs and classical recitals as well. I know how expensive college can get to I recommend the Yamaha 4C with stiffer cut reeds for anything classical. As for jazz, the Jody Jazz should hold up really well. If not, I would suggest making reed changes first. For rock, the Jumbo Java is pretty powerful and very capable without costing a million dollars. Also, check out my reviews of the Chinese mouthpieces on Amazon. I am having some amazing results with a crazy low prices. I am blown away by these pieces

    Hey sirvalor. I'm starting to get more advanced in my jazz playing, (16 Y/o been playing classical for 7 years and jazz for 3.) I have tried a couple reeds and while I can produce a sound I like with some I haven't really found the responsiveness I like- Sometimes the D or G hits an overtone or half tone on my 7 mouthpiece. Maybe that's just a me thing but I don't really know. Do you have any experience with synthetic reeds? And what reeds do you overall recommend?
    Thanks for helping through my jazz journey mate.

      In my experience, the D'Addario reeds run pretty stiff. I'd try the Vandoren green box 2.5 for a brighter setup or the Vandoren redbox 3 for a bright with core setup. I did a review on cheaper reeds where the blue box Royals b D'Addario were much better than I thought they would be. They are also cheaper

    Hi Adriene, I need your advice. I have Paititi #7 and I’m considering buying Yibuy mouthpiece. 1- These two mouthpieces look kind of similar but do they feel and sound similar to you or there is a big difference and worth trying? 2- I’m comfortable with 6* to 7 maximum on Otto Link scale and I’m comfortable with Paititi 7. What size tip opening Yibay do you think I should buy? #8 or #9. Also if you have to just keep one between gold or silver which one would you keep? Thanks

      I wish there were more objective tests done on these mouthpieces. I've taken down all the reviews of the mouthpieces I did where I can't research the material that these are made of. I no longer play the cheap Chinese mouthpieces either. From what information I've been able to gather, they lack proper plating compared to more expensive mouthpieces and they are made from low quality cheap brass that would more than likely exceed the recommendations of Proposition 65. In my opinion, until we can get more definitive tests done it's not worth the risks

    How many folks now feel slightly less guilty about how many mouthpieces they have?

    So wirhout a doubt the twins win; so, Sugal, Vando, iBay for me. Now, can your drunk cistomers tell the difference? I think not. However, the studio mic can. Keep the Sugal for the right place and the others for the customer that wants to bend the saxneck. Really outstanding job. Thanks very much.

    OK, so "take a listen to this". And, you play something in a very large hall/room with hard surfaces everywhere. The echo never seems to end. And, we're supposed to "appreciate" one of your mouthpieces in that place? What's wrong with you?

      Please feel free to check out the actual video where I review the mouthpieces in multiple rooms with different sound characteristics. I posted a link at the end of the video. Thanks
