Wow, the saddle change really made a difference. I’m glad you listened to him.

I miss read this mare I'm now nurturing back after an impacted tooth so severe it must have been so terribly painful as she wouldn't let me touch her willingly. I took both horses to the Academy of Equine Dentistry in Glenns Ferry Idaho.. Equine dental health is often overlooked or undetected..
Awesome video as always Isidro and Amber

Very informative and a good example of your experience. I don't know how many of us could spot the details to differentiate pain vs. worry when starting a horse. I'm not confident that I would have picked up the clues to spot the difference this quickly and cringe at the thought I'd go on reinforcing a negative association with the saddle until the light came on. Sincerely appreciate the illustration with this horse so I can be mindful of saddle fit among other sources of pain. (If only they could talk so they could tell us they're cinchy because of ulcers and/or whatever is bothering them!)
On the saddle fit topic... (and this has always given me a headache because of all the variables that come into play)... I'm wondering about the saddle size that didn't work out and what you switched him over to. Him being wide, I would have guessed an off-the-shelf, full quarter horse bars saddle would fit. Then again, I've known of a few quarter horses that rode better with the high, more open or flared gullet of a gaited horse saddle. Just curious what the case was for him.
