I think the Magnums were better looking than the 300C and Charger versions. Looked more like a chop top custom. Nevr could understand though why Chrysler never offered a manual in the LX's.
These were absolutely seen as killer! A throwback to full size sedans really all the way to the 40s and 50s with big fenders and a short roof line, but with the latest in high performance. No one really cared about the fuel mileage in 05 either, but that was right around the corner no doubt. Chrysler will be missed soon 😢
Forgotten? Damn things are the embodiment of 2000 Chrysler! Dealerships threw in a NY Yankees hat, tank tops, and a Chinese spinner watch with every one sold with dealer financing!
Some of the best built Mopars ever made. I loved how the 300, Charger, Challenger and even the Grand Cherokee/Durango took Mercedes Benz chassis and managed to improve upon them with American flare.
In Germany the time is seen very bad, it destroyed Mercedes Image because they copied the American cost reduction which mechanism which ended up in piss poor build quality at the end it was a huge disaster.
While Chrysler let the 300 languish for far too long, starting in M/Y 2005, it literally was talk of the town for a while. It was almost like they did the impossible: Styling that suggested a far more pricier vehicle, very high performance for the dollar, and affordability into one package. The cherry on top was RWD vs FWD that most large sedans had at the time. I still see this vintage 300 SRT8 and it still turns my head. The lowered stance with tasteful bodywork remains classy.

I'm convinced that if they put more money into this car over the years it would still be a solid seller. I'm not a large car kinda guy but this thing has always been awesome
Had a 2006 300C SRT8 and now I have a 2016 300 SRT. While the new car is great, there's something special about these 1st Gen SRT's. Looks the best too
These are just as appealing today, maybe a little more so, imo. V8 sedans are about to be extinct, and with the idiotic administration pushing all ICE vehicles off the cliff, if you had one of these, you'd want to keep it.
Like with most American cars, the max'd-out model was great, but the base model was garbage. Too often I got stuck with the latter as a rental while on business travel. Too big, too slow, too cheap inside, glad I got to give it back after a few days.
I am pretty sure the 6.1 Hemi does make more power than the old 426 Hemi, period. Those old engines, powerful as they are, were dynoed with gross hp. the net hp measurement wouldnt be a thing until sometimes in the 70s.

I have seen very few of these in last almost 20 years, I wonder if they didnt sell very well or if they did sell a considerable number of vehicles then they didnt last or people crashed them.
They mention that its rating surpasses the rating of the 1966 HEMI and proceed to show a picture of a 426 HEMI. This car does 13.4 @ 104 MPH. Well, thats what an average HEMI would do in the 70's, so the idiotic NET rating of 345 HP in a car that was hindered by only 3 speeds and no computer controls does at least as well as this 425 net HP rating...tells us that the 426 HEMI was UNDER RATED, and by a lot.
@4:50 There's no ways all these so called last call edition Chargers and Challengers will holds it's value 10-15 years from now. 05-2010 SRT8 is not even close to holding it's value almost 20 years later
My family had a trip back in 2006 to the US, we rented a pontiac Grand prix GT. 2 years later we returned back to the same spot in US and rented a chrysler 300, given it was a base trim, however; The ride quality of the chrysler was absolutely garbage, it was rough and wasted so much fuel for simple drives. The pontiac was surprisingly well built and really comfortable and with the same 3.5L v6 in both cars, the Pontiac was just better to drive overall. (Not to mention i think my dad mentioned we averaged like 26 mpg in city driving in the pontiac, and somewhere around 21 mpg with the chrysler)
