I love your work & your way of teaching soo much. Like being taught by Donna Noble from Doctor Who! And you're sooo quirky & funny & like to sniff things!! Much much love from India! 💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
Would you show on a video how you finish your copper jewelry with Renaissance Wax? How much to add, what cloth, and how to remove any excess in the tight areas. Thank you for sharing your knowledge. This moon tutorial is wonderful. I can't wait to make it.
@@Wireguild I was just about to ask you which of the Renaissance Wax products you use since I saw several types on Amazon!! I'm also very interested to see your video on this!
Rachel: I suggest working with 16 or 18 ga for the frame, and after shaping the moon, either hammer it to flatten, or use a rubber or rawhide mallet, to work harden the wire. I have used a combination of 20 & 22 gauge successfully.
That is the great thing about wire wrapping you can use whatever gauge wire you feel most comfortable with and if you like a finer result you can do that. Personally I like using the 14g for a frame as I like the rounded profile without planish marks and have found from many years teaching that if the frame is very strong students (particularly beginners) can really pull with the curls over the top without distorting the shape. But as with all wire wrapping there are no rights and wrongs only new designs and that is why I love it so much
Glad it was helpful! Photo are always great - but they have to be on the facebook page/group as we can't do them here facebook.com/groups/591197234384650

l love this been looking for some ideas for moon pendants and l love twirling the wire now have to get myself some cooper wire (ran out ) but making one in silver and bronze is still cool
Hi there Rachel. Another great video thank you. What did you say you painted your piece with at the end please? I couldn’t hear it very well. Tx a million. 🤗
I want to thank you so much for this tutorial. I used it for inspiration to make a crested ocean wave since the shape is very similar. I was really struggling on how to do this and this technique helped!
Thank you so much for your videos. After watching you, I feel like I can work with wire. You have totally identified the process. I am intrigued by your earring hooks. When you patina the earring wire, do you put the wax on that part too?
@@Wireguild Oh great thanks! Also, I was gifted a bag of wire from an artisan friend. I know there are Copper and Plated silver. The other silver coil looks like it is either "aged" or tarnished. Could it be sterling?
Finally made a couple moons. So fun. However, I am star challenged. How long is your star wire to give me some size perspectives? I must be overthinking it ... it looks so easy 🤪
Gorgeous !!! Cant wait to make one. Thank you. Loved your description of your children. I will call mine the Loony Lunar. What did you say you used to oxidize ?
I was recommended the renosance to finish wish. Other than the smell, do you like it? Thanks for this tutorial. Great for a project I have in my head ☺
HA hahaha I looooove the smell I have to limit my self to sniffs, my late father was an engineer and it reminds me of how he smelled sometimes - Great product amazing smell
Your initial piece isn't the wrong way; it's 1 of the moon phases. 😘 I'm participating in a wire challenge, and this moon was my choice (to go with Van Gogh's The Starry Night).
So sorry about the delay Covid19 you know, I do hope you do really well fingers crossed and good luck. maybe you have already won in which case congrats
Oh Rachel..I have made by mistake and gave you a thumb down for a few minutes😶I don't know how this comes. I beg your pardon.I would never ever give you a thumb down.😱
Absolutely gorgeous...I love your work, gonna try this one..
OMG I could listen to you all day - beautiful pendant and really easy instructions to listen to. :)
Wow, thank you!

You're funny when things are dysfunctional... I"m always dysfunctional, but not always funny. Nicely done, Rachel!
Thank you - I have had a lot of practice at being dysfunctional and besides its got FUN right there in the middle
Very nice! I love moons so I’ll have to give this a try! Thank you! I really enjoy your tutorials! 😬😍
So cool ... It is "over the moon" ... (sorry, couldn't help myself!) I love it!

Hi Maureen, I use Platinol which you can buy from Cooksons (UK) but any Liver of Sulfur solution will work

Hi Rachel. What do you use to age/patina your copper before using the wax? Thank you so much for all of your help. 💗
I use plationol it is available from www.cooksongold.com
@@Wireguild, thank you. I appreciate it very much!

Beautiful ❤️❤️❤️❤️

If they were silver no if they are copper I usually paint with clear nail varnish, this protects the ears from the copper

@@Wireguild Thank you Rachel
Can i ask where you get your spools of wire from? I'm struggling to find somewhere I can buy in bulk. I love this pendant🧡
I get mine from the scientific wire company - www.wires.co.uk they do up to 1k reels Hope that helps
try riogrande.com too
