Hay Will, this was well explained. At the end of the 70s, I passed both grade 8 on trombone and theory in case I changed my mind about becoming a theoretical physicist so I could take music instead. Oh dear, I spent the 80s in electronics and computers and played trad jazz in pubs. 😃 I can definitely say that if you don't live for the circle of 5ths and the many modes, these 9 minutes are golden.
Thanks for sharing your knowledge and techniques for making this amazing genre of music. I feel we have just scratched the surface of the potential for EDM as a genre and can't wait for more!

Not trying to be nasty but this is more of a recipe. A tutorial should teach the rationale behind the decisions. Ie not just the what but the why. You can learn to cook a few tasty meals following recipes but to be a chef recipes alone won’t do it.
The "split the notes of the chords" tips is very interesting.. mainly because it is a very basic "rule" of orchestration when you're using, well.. orchestral sounds. Every instrument has a specific frequency range so you split the nots of the chords into different instruments.. like violins take the higher one.. violas the one below.. the cello the one below... the bass will take the bass line if you add it to the chord. Just to prove that studying orchestration should actually be something every producer should do no matter the genre.
Your tutorials are very helpful and informative, I've learned so much from them and they've 100% made me a better producer! Thank you for these videos and I'm definitely going to jump in the studio and try out these chord techniques! 🔥

Let's see. coming running, sky diving, disco lights, really liked s lot of his tracks on together we rise, i loved screwface even though it never did well. Darren Styles - Quiver is just screwface but more updated with a vocal, burning up, W&W x Darren Styles Long Way Down sooo many haha iyd say my all time fave if i had to really choose is ultrabeat vs darren styles sure feels good :) But yea if you have time a modern hhc tutorial would be amazing :)

If I invert a note below it’s root note. Do I have to adjust my bass midi to match that note ?
Great question! Most of the time, the bass note will sound strongest on the root of the chord, rather than on the inverted root
