My favourite part of the BDK fragrances is the dry down. They are all so unique. Rouge Smoking is one of my most worn fragrances of 2022 (smells like cherry cola in the best possible way). Different to all my other cherry fragrances (I also love Burning Cherry and Lost Cherry). Creme de Cuir takes you on an incredible journey with citrus at the top and the best ever sweet leather in the mid. Velvet Tonka is too literal a gourmand for me at the top (smells exactly like marzipan) but the dry down is softer and quite addictive. Gris Charnel is super chic. The colour of the juice perfectly matches the fragrance. Edgy, sexy, powerful. Wood Jasmin is my new favourite. A perfect soft, woody fragrance. I wear it layered with the Sol de Janeiro Bum Dia lotion to make it sweeter and more feminine.

The first time I tried Gris Charnel, I too was a little disappointed. So I left it a week or so and tried it again and fell in love with it - absolutely obssessed with it . An amazing modern classic that will stand the. test of time, I think.

I blind bought Gris Charnel after your reviews - I know, risky in this price range - but OH MY! It's fabulous. I really really love wearing it, it somehow also calms me down.
Ordered a sample set and can't wait to try out more from this brand.

Agree. 💯. Gris is #1. Rouge Smoking #2. I want Tubereuse Imperiale’ badly. I have the sample and it’s just as you say. Wow! My son walked by me wearing the Ambre Saffrano sample and omg, that one is excellent too! BDK makes some nice fragrances.

    Great review Monika ☺️👍🏼
I really like this brand although I noticed that the small bdk samples are a bit different from the juice in the big bottle! Especially in terms of longevity and sillage. I have tested several bdk fragrances and bought Gris Charnel, Rouge Smoking and Pas Ce Soir and I have to say I‘m a little disappointed with the performance… For example, Pas Ce Soir (from the bottle) only lasts about 3-4 hours on my skin while the sample lasted up to 24 hours… Just keep that in mind when you try out the samples :)
I still love the fragrances, but it's better to try them in a store to see how they last and project on your skin 😊

Funny you say Tabac Rose is feminine, I found it too masculine. I gave it to my husband and he loves it. It’s probably the one he grabs the most now. He’s scored a few hand-me-downs from failed blind buys. Failed for me, wins for him.

I have full bottles of both Gris Charnel and Gris Charnel Extrait. Both are amazing. I like the Extrait a little better, as it is darker. I really wished I would like more of the line. Creme de cuir was a bit of a let down; the description sounded a lot like Goldfield and Banks Purple Suede, but upon application I preferred the latter and bought a full bottle. The only other one I found interesting was Tabac Rose; its evolution and change on the dry down is amazing.

As a man that lives in a warmer climate most of the year (Phoenix, AZ/ U.S.A.), one of my signature scents is Gris Charnel and my second favorite from the house is Rouge Smoking. It took a little for me to buy into it, but I just couldn’t stop spraying my sample and then when I ran out I knew I needed a full bottle! I don’t wear them on the really hot days. They tend to be worn on my fall and winter rotations. 😊👍🏽

I struggle with the incense note as well. But I recently got a decant of the most beautiful incense fragrance I’ve ever smelled, Encens Suave from Matiere Premiere. Let me tell you, THAT is how you do incense! Aurelien Guichard really put his genius into that fragrance!

I’ve been tempted to get Encens Suave, but from what reviews I’ve seen of that, it seems to be very much a ‘skin scent’ ? (I like a fragrance to project so I’ve held back from buying for now, but I love incense fragrances)

☆Great fragrance house, and great review Mon! But I would definitely recommend the Gris Charnel Extrait! It is rich, sumptuous, and more male wearable. Very worth a sample at the very least! You would probably love it on your beau! Also, do you like Argos fragrances, or Timothy Han, very psyched to hear your thoughts on those...Much respect and appreciation ☆☆☆☆☆

I absolutely love the Velvet Tonka also…performs like a beast on my skin…it’s so interesting how our bodies just respond differently to various fragrances which is why I prefer to test on my skin and go through the dry down etc. before I deliver a verdict. It also seems to me that it’s best to let fragrances that are shipped directly to me just sit in a cool/dark place for a few days minimum before I actually test them out.

I've been looking around for a niche perfume and am considering to gift that to my fiancee to wear on our wedding day. If you've tried it before, would you say it's "bride-appropriate" ?
