  • In this video, we get some ice and finish up our last preparations. Then we head out for the day to check a few cod spots. It's good to do a "dry" run to make sure everything is working properly close to town.

Greetings from Manitoba, Canada. Wow the memories you have given me of the days of ling and snapper fishing out of Prince Rupert. I would fish off of Banks Island or off of Dundas Island. Those cold morning were something else. Always had the diesel stove going wide open to always have a toasty warm cabin to warm up in. I only fished cod in the winter time and trolled/gillnetted in the summer. Thanks for the great video's.

for Feb, in Alaska seem like summer, you would think you be in huge parkas and chopping ice off the boat, and feet of snow. i know your in salt water so it dont freeze much, but you see ice breakers in Alaska ,, here in north western Ont. Canada by Jan were already into 40 to 50 below for weeks at a time and may go to 20 to 30 below our commercial fishing shuts down on the great lake mid Nov. as the harbor freezes over solid, all the big tugs are craned out and set on shore on big timbers, until then they have to keep the big barral wood stove burning 24/7 so the tug dont freeze up, they burn big old rail road ties

Hi Lizard. We don't have really big tide swings here. Maybe 8 foot or so average, and 12' on the big side. Our main is a 6414T Deere block marinized by Lugger. Rating is 220 HP at 2450 RPM. We run at 1450-1600 RPM, so probably making 160 HP. That's a guesstimate. Anyways we appreciate the questions and comments. Thanks for joining us.
