- SURIN ISLANDS, THAILAND - Koh Surin (หมู่เกาะสุรินทร์) in the province of Phang Nga in Southern Thailand is paradise on Earth. That isn't an understatement. I took a snorkeling trip with Love Andaman from Khao Lak to visit Koh Surin National Park. It is home to some of the best diving Thailand and best snorkelling in Thailand. I had to make a decision between the Similan Islands and the Surin Islands and ended up choosing the Surin Islands. It was a good decision because I absolutely loved it. From the food to the people to the natural scenery, the snorkelling and beaches. It was simply an amazing day trip from Khao Lak. The ride there took about 1 hour and 10 minutes on a speed boat. Love Andaman was great and the tour included three snorkelling stops, lunch, snacks and a visit to a Moken tribal village who live right on the beach in the National Park. Moken, are an ancient sea-faring people who have roamed the Andaman Sea for thousands of years.

This place truly does look like paradise on earth. So sad we missed this when we were in Thailand, but we're definitely adding it to our list for when we return. 😍Thanks for another great video!
Yeah Surin and Similan islands are awesome places if you like snorkelling and scuba. I miss that blue water haha
What an amazing island! It's probably one of the most beautiful places for diving. The sand looks soft and clean and the underwater world is incredible. You were lucky that the beach was not too crowded despite the high season. I love this video especially the diving part ❤. It makes me want to fly to the south now. 🏝️
Yeah! I think because everyone was having lunch, but I guess numbers are managed because it wasn't; overcrowded, even during peak season. If that is true, I am glad that Thailand does that. You should go :)
Paradise on earth. The crystal-clear water, white sandy beach, and lovely fishes are amazing
Wow, this pic. is great ! it could be in a holiday catalog for divers&snorklers, praising the beauty of underwater world !✌🤿of course Koh Surin is a little paradise, i wait for the vid. to see...
I hope you enjoy the video later! It was a fun trip
The people on the island are not afraid of the sea but they have to listen to it and that is their salvation to avoid major problems. they learned this from their grandparents.
Exactly! They are connected to nature - only a good way
Have not been to Andaman sea. It is definitely in my list next visit to Thailand.
You should! It is a stunning part of the world
Absolutely beautiful beyond words Joe 😊😊
It’s always a pleasure in the underwater world
14:00 wow 🤩
stunning isn't it
Our fav....more more interesting than Similan. Try also the most beautiful nature park; Khao Sok...but we chosen a small speed boat group (15 pax)...
yes! I really enjoyed Surin. Unfortunately I injured myself and had to miss Khao Son, another time
It’s stunning isn’t it
I remember those days just around 20 years ago used to go bost trips around Similan, Bamboo, monkey and so many more Islands it was out of this world! So many exotic fish in so many different colours, shape, size. There were millions of them coming to you and touching hands and legs. Its beautiful found memories ive kept until today. Funny thing is I thought the whole world will be beautiful like in Thailand clear blue sea and golden white sand. Never been so disappointed ☹️ here is grey muddy and yucky. Missing Thailand. Enjoy your time there Joe. Thank you for beautiful content.
haha that is right British beaches are not exactly fantastic. It makes those memories even more powerful and special :)
Wasn't expecting something so beautiful in themiddle of theAndaman sea, the coast from Ranong to Phuket has a lot more to offer than what I thought. Thanks for showing something different.
me neither... stunning isn't it :)
That was a perfect weather! Bright blue sky and crystal clear water. About those local people, I heard they originally lived on a boat not hut and hopped around islands.
that is correct. They used to live on the sea and then when their income dried up the settled on the land.
wow I really miss this place, thanks for video love from Bangkok.
My pleasure, I’m glad you enjoyed it
Hey Joe, Jacqui and I met you a couple of weeks ago in Funchal, couldn't work out how to message directly 😅 it was great to meet you, super nice guy, hope you are settling in well and planning your next adventure! Good luck with the vlogging, looking forward to the videos 🤟🤟
hey guys! It was really nice to meet you too. I hope you had a great stay on the rest of your trip. I am settling in very well, I don't regret my decision to move here just yet haha. I'm sure you guys will be back here one day, give me a shout
My favorite part of our snorkeling trips in Thailand many moons ago was the lunches they provide. Even the simple ones in a large foam box was great 😋.
oh yeah, after the boat rides and spending time underwater, everything tastes good haha. I really enjoyed myself actually. I don't usually do group tours.
@@hungrytoexplore Group tours may be the only option for affordable trips, I have done private ones. Both are fun and yes, food tastes better when you are starving from swimming.
Beautiful place
It really is!
The beach without trash is breathtakingly beautiful. You managed to present everything realistically, trashful beach and all. I wish the residents would take the time to clean up, you know, but I guess making a living is more important than beauty to them. 😢. Btw, you are perfect just as you are, if there is such thing as perfect. 😊
yeah it sure is! That main national park area was completely stunning, perhaps the nicest beach that I have been on. It is a shame about the trash, but it is the sad reality of the world that we live in at the moment. Sure, the locals should take pride in it, but I think that comes from the top too. The intention to ensure these places are as they should be trickles down from the intentions set by a government. But yes, it was sad to see.
Wish we have done trip when we were down south 😮 great vlog Joe 🎉🎉🎉 really enjoyed it 😊
it was a lot of fun! You guys will have to visit next time you are down that way
Great video Joe. You gave us a video of a place I have not seen before.
Thank you, I am glad you enjoyed it
How did you manage your hair to be perfectly coiffed under water? 😂😂😂
🤣🤣 my Michael Phelps swimming speed
Great video Joe !🤩✌💙wow, mesmerizing Surin ! loved to see you buying at the Mokken village the little wooden Manta that is not perfect - but it is a beautiful woodwork ! Thanks a lot for this trip, have to go there ....👍
thank you. It was a really fun trip, I didn't expect to enjoy it so much actually. Usually I do not do group tours.
Oh! It is very beautiful island.
It’s a stunner
Love this channel❤
thank you
it is a really beautiful place. I am so happy that I got to visit there
Thanks for sharing this 💯👏🐳🐬🐠
My pleasure 🐳🐬🐠
So nice ❤
stunning!
Yeah it’s stunning
Love the thumbnail Joe❤❤❤. Great adventure 😎
Thank you Max 😁

Happy 23K Subs! Absolutely a great paradise and you look awesome under water 😂
Thank you!! 😁 It still seems crazy that I have 23k subs haha. It was super fun underwater
Hi Joe🎉 It is really beautiful❤
It’s so stunning! I had such a fun time
That would be great because it does ruin it and it is a national park
I can’t believe I’ve never been mate. That second spot looked unreal
I think you are the family would enjoy it down there actually. Just a little way to get to. I did find one good place for food haha, as you will see in the next vid.
I have just started watching your Southern Thailand videos, they are great! Surin island is a true paradise, pity that it's not that popular.
Oh I am happy to hear you are enjoying them. I think, or I am guessing that Thailand manages the numbers which can visit the National Park each day, perhaps the is why it wasn't so crowded.
Oh I'm happy that not popular otherwise will ruin.
@@hungrytoexplore Yes they do that, also shut the island in some months
You found Nemo! 👏🏻😃🤿🏝
hahaha eventually, it took a while and a lot of holding my breath haha
yeah, it was so cool to see the clownfish
it used to be one of few unspoilt island, OMG what a change since i was there 20 years ago
Oh really? I guess that’s inevitable these days
🥰🥰🥰
thank you :)
What is the name of that amazing beach?
I think it is Mai Ngam Beach
your invitation is charming and form to visitor.i will in from a visitor about recommended and gifts foundation.
thank you! I am glad you enjoyed it :)
First stop village that's not Indonesian. It seems to be very Burmese. Noticed from the powder on the face.
yeah, but they originally descended from people from Indonesia
Thailand... my love :)
This national park is rather far from mainland so it is bit pricey, it would be great to stay overnight.
sure, but I think it is worth it. I really enjoyed the trip and I wasn't sure that I would
Hi, we would like to go to Surin for 2days 1 night and sleep over there in the bungalow. Which company will you recommend to reserve with? If for a day trip, which company did you reserve? Thanks
I booked my trip with Love Andaman and thought they were great. I actually do not know how to book the bungalows. If they are not on Booking or Agoda then perhaps through the same company as the day trip.

the number 100 - 1,000 - 10,000 - 100,000 - 1,000,000 Thai people would say it informally by switch the words around roi nueng , pun nueng, muen nueng, san nueng and learn nueng. And you might hear another way that meant to be less like you say "just a hundred" they say roi deaw.
thank you for your clear explanation :)
Yes it was sad to see, especially in a national park
The natives of Surin Island are the Mogan tribe. Thai people nickname them "Ocean Gypsy" . They was able to lead a group of tourists who were Thai movie stars to survive from sunami. Nobody talks about them much.
.
These people don't want to be on the mainland. Thai king said that he should be treated as much as ordinary Thais and live according to his way of life. So he gave them his ID card and gave them his surname "Kla Ta Le" which means brave sea dwellers
Very interesting, thank you for sharing
I'm fc from Thailand
