Hello, I am an approved asylee, I went to Germany and came back with travel document. At the border I was questioned heavily and was told I need more documents and my own nations passport if i want officer to let me live in the United States. I was asked and told that I need my own nations passport, which I can not obtain, and finally-luckily I was admitted with a stamp on my document. The whole process was traumatic I was so scared to go through it all again, now I have no courage to travel again however my parents are in Germany I want to see them. Why is this happening to me
Hello Hasan. We are sorry to hear about your experience. If you traveled with a refugee travel document and still meet the definition of asylee the border agent should not have asked for your country of origin's passport. It's possible the border agent was new and did not understand the rules. It's best to carry a printout of the rules/laws from the CBP website that you can hand the officer upon entry if they question your status. I assume your country of origin is not Germany otherwise that may be what caused the problem. If you'd like to schedule a consultation with us to discuss how you can travel again in the future please email us at info@alightlegal.com

Hello. I'm the winner of usa dv lottery 2022 .I'm using asylum seekers in south Africa I'm.living in south africa so I don't have a passport. Can I travel with my asylum seekers in USA without passport? I dont hve travel document
Traveling back to one's home country from which they claimed fear of persecution can raise red flags, even if you return as a citizen. Visiting one's home country is not without risk, though the risk may be low depending on the circumstances of the case.
Hello, I received asylum a year ago and I wanted to ask you something. I applied for a green card a month ago and it is now pending for me. I received a travel document and applied for a French visa with it, but It was refused. I wanted to ask you if it will be possible for me to travel with a Ukrainian biometric passport in Europe (because Ukrainians don't need visas to Europe) and leave to enter US with a refugee travel document. Will I have any problem during my green card interview if I can explain the urgency of travel and that I tried to get visa in travel document and it got refused? I will be grateful for your help!
I have renewed my passport in the USA while I'm waiting for an interview of asylum which has not yet taken place. Will they still refuse the asylum status at the interview as I have not even traveled out of the US? Please let me know.
It is not an automatic refusal or denial of asylum if the passport is renewed. It's fact and case specific, and sometimes officer / adjudicator specific.
What should I do if my Travel document application was denied? and My country passport will expire next year should I re apply for another Travel Document? (Im waiting for my green card based on asylum) IM NOT PLANNING TO TRAVEL TO MY HOME COUNTRY
If a travel document was denied, I would suggest meeting with an attorney to figure out what was the reason for the denial. Depending on the reason for the denial, then you may consider re-filing.

While we are licensed to advise on in immigration to the U.S., we are not licensed to practice in Mexico. However in general, Mexico has its own requirements for entering - which typically requires a valid passport or travel document. Be sure to research inbound and outbound requirements for traveling, or seek out a personalized consultation.
After getting my green card If I go to my home country to see my mom ,she is sick, this reason is valid or not,and when I come back to USIf they ask my why you went to your home country?
Returning to your home country, regardless of the reason, can cause problems coming back to the U.S. as an asylee or green card holder based on asylum. We recommend scheduling a consultation to discuss the specifics of your situation before deciding to travel. You contact us at info@alightlegal.com.
So I can’t use my own passport at all ? I wanna be a flight attendant in the usa . What’s the best option please? I’m an asylee and I have I 512L travel parol
You can fly domestically without issue. For travel abroad as an asylee, you'll have to have a refugee travel document. I am not sure if special rules apply to flight attendants, and it likely depends on the country of entry, but some countries allow entry on a refugee travel doc without a visa, and others require visas.
Possibly, it depends on a lot of factors which process and options would be best for you and your spouse. To understand the options based on your exact situation, and your spouse's I would recommend a consultation with an experienced immigration attorney.
Hi. I live in Texas, Houston since August 2019. My husband is main applicant in asylum case and we have been approved in January 2020 and were applied for Green Card in April 2021. We have 2 kids, one of them was born here in Texas. My question is can I travel with my two kids to my home country with Advance Parole document? Should I meet any problem in the border when I come back to US?
Hello, it is impossible for an attorney to advise you on the risks or problems you might face without a more detailed review of your and the primary applicant's history. If you would like a personalized consultation, you can email our legal team.
Yes, that's the purpose of a refugee travel document. It takes the place of a passport. You'll need to research entry requirements for the country you wish to travel to, because there are a few that will not accept refugee travel documents, and some require a visa in addition to the travel document, just as they would if you had a passport
Thank you this is very important information. I have got my green card through my dad he has asylee green card which is category AS6 and mine is AS8. I would like to travel to my home country with my home country passport. Am I allowed to come back to US or what do I know other than Travel document?
Generally if someone's status is based on asylum, they should travel on a refugee travel document. Even as a dependent, there can be issues traveling on a green card and home country's passport, so it's helpful for the person to understand the risks before taking them.
Hi there! I have a question. My friend travelled outside of US with refugee travel document and her access to Turkey was denied until she had to pull her original passport from the country she got asylum from. I am personally going to travel soon with my refugee travel passport and trying to understand how to react if my entry will be denied too? What can I do if I can’t use my old passport? Also, Turkey is one of the countries that is supposed to accept US refugee travel document but they don’t.
We are not able to advise on the immigration laws of other countries. If you are unable to enter on a refugee travel document, then it is not advisable to try and enter that country.

We cannot give specific advice since we do not know the details, but generally as long as an Asylee does not return to their home country, does not travel on their passport, and uses a refugee travel document, it should not put their status at risk.
