@@truerebel5467That's the issue with Marty's writing lately - he fails to realize that this is set in equivalent of the Middle Ages - and Skyrim. And suddenly a lot of people are higly educated, versed in lore of sentient automatons and other pseudofantastical nonsense. Bruh. Completely breaks the suspension of disbelief. And no bretons are constructing a damn synth, even Sorine from the Dawnguard DLC needed blueprints just to craft simple crossbows. Sotha Sil had to become a god to create Factotums so random bretons are not plausible. Marti would be better off just saying that Ashe was a Dwemer prototype that was never finished due to their disappearance and later on researchers found her, and base off of leftover blueprints, were able to finish her. The mod is cool, a step above SDA, but this is what happens when you try to mix JRPG into a western RPG and ignoring lore.
"Am I crazy, or is apologizing to your father's killer because you thought about killing him kinda weird? Glad to see that I'm not the only one who were taking out a bit by that outcome. I could understand forgiving someone for your own good and moving on but staying to chop wood and sharing a drink and laughing with your parent's murderer is something different. Definitely going to encourage her to smoke his boots next playthrough until Marti comes up with something a bit more realistic for that scenario lol.
Yeah, it's kinda weird. I wonder how she reacts to you being apart of the Dark Brotherhood. You know, the organization that most very likely contributes the cycle of vengeance the story is opposed to.
The whole way of how Rolen was handled is very offputting. He's an assassin! He killed her dad! I was really unhappy with the choice of talking her out of killing him to begin with, but to apologize to him, do penance, and then sit down with him like old friends? What the everloving f**k? He's not a kindly old man. He's a Dark Brotherhood assassin. "Just following orders" my ass. He's not some victim of circumstances. He chose to be an assassin. She should've put a sword through his gut, searched his cabin and called it a day when she first met him, assured that she'd made the world a better place. Bad writing doesn't normally surprise me all that much, but this is one of the worst quests I've ever seen in a Skyrim mod. I can't comprehend how the author thought the right option here was to become friends with this guy and do his errands.
@@0periodproductions The idea that anyone thinks anyone needs to apologize to this cold-blooded murderer for anything is just crazy. And the quest just goes along with it like it's the most wholesome thing in the world. Apologize for what?! For letting him off with zero consequences?! Like, Ashe is more angry at the guy who'd been helping her for 6 years, but made a mistake in how much info about her "parents" to share out of concern for her mental well-being. Do you know what happens if you just kill Rolen when you meet him? Is she still able to progress as a person? Does killing him block her romance arc? Also, can we talk about how weird a romance arc for a robot is? Because I have all sorts of questions there.
From what I saw it doesn't seem to make a difference for the romance if you kill him, but it might lead to her having a different development as there's three "resolutions" for her questline.
I think this mod confuses the line between "innocent" Hired Mercenary and Dark Brotherhood member. Rolan isn't innocent at all, he was a Dark Brotherhood member. If you want to be a hired killer/bodyguard you'd become a mercenary. If you want to be a murderer of the innocent "with a clear conscience" as Lucien Lachance puts it, you'd become a Dark Brotherhood member. Also, dude said that he has no family the moment you meet him. As far as I can see it's a three to one deal here. +1 Payback +1 No family that'll grieve/revenge for him(vengeance cycle stops there) +1 Avenge Aryo (and the other families he probably hurt) -1 Vengeance Bad 42:02 Side note: I've never seen a dunmer look so happy, he must've been waiting ages to take that seat and eat his bread.
I watched the rest of the series, but I’m still super miffed. How exactly did we get in the scenario of doing hard labor for the guy who killed her dad?
lolll This is the kind of storytelling you get by mashing tropes together without thinking about the story you're building. Ooh, a forgiveness arc would be good, where the cynical mercenary reconciles with everyone and learns to see the humanity in people! Except it... doesn't work here. At all. Great mod though, and I think that outfit works for her (better than the anime waifu one)!
Yeesh. Roland makes my skin crawl. I’m not sure that was an intentional choice by the mod author or something just didn’t get conveyed right. Had an almost NTR vibe to it. Just the emphasis on physical labor and the intentional separation of the player and Ash. It made sure to specify that the mining took a long time. And I don’t know, it all seemed so sinister. Like never in a thousand years would I let my impressionable lady friend alone with her *Father’s Killer*.
Much better outfit. All the clothes from that mod author are great. Marty's not a good writer, and boy did it show up here. Apologizing to her father's killer? No. Also, that tease of "Babysitting (jest)" is more infantilization of women that is the same garbage we got in SDA.
34:36 - Did therapists even exist back then? Back in Middle Ages it was the priesthood that more or less did that. To certain extent. And it was so until "therapists" have discovered the biological, psychological and chemical base of depression. Another way was spending time with friends or family, or getting drunk in a tavern.
Also - just once, I'd like to see a quest where a former scoundrel, wracked with guilt over stealing someone's treasured possession, sorrowfully goes to return it and make amends, and the guy is just "Oh that old piece of crap? You can keep it"
And then his mood does complete 180 when she apologized, as is being nice and all to her, but complete boar to the player. He has way more reason to be pissed at her than at us - we're just a random hobo.
This mod tries REALLY hard to be like Ambriel the Lost Princess, or Valley of the Outcasts. And you DO NOT want to be like Ambriel or Valley of the Outcasts... EVER 😬
@qifaysniduay Witcher, Fallout and BioWare games references are off the charts, not to mention the s3xu4l innuendos. Bosmer Garrus knock-off, books written by kind vampire named Regis, altmer guy was one big Inquisition's Cassandra x Elf Inquisitor romance reference, Willar the Ranger was a creep, constantly referencing your s3x life and making that Geralt x Yen unicorn scene, that "another settlement needs your help" guy from Fallout 4,... It was so bad, that when author finished the sequel, the file name is Valley_of_the_Outcasts_sucks, or something like that. When asked why he did that, he replied in FAQ that he made choices that he regretted and doesn't believe anymore, and decided to drop the development of finale to the planned trilogy.
