Awesome effort! I’ve marshalled every year and to see you come storming into the finish was fab! I was very happy to give you your Newent 9 PB time sticker!! Thanks for supporting the Newent 9 each year!
Wow, what a great year this has been, so many good results coming out of the training blocks, really encouraging. Concert looked pretty good as well. More than one band there by the look of what I could read of the banner behind them.
Thanks buddy, its had its ups and downs but over a 365 period there has been some good progress made, which I am very happy about! It was Story Of The Year and Yellowcard!
It's well worth a try buddy! The ketone IQ is indeed expensive... which is a shame because i find it to be so effective! If there are ever any sales on, i will be sure to shout about it!
www.bicarrb.com/ thats where I buy it from! 2 hours before, there are instructions on the packaging but you make the hydrogel first then mix in the bicarb
Back in the day when I first got the polar OH1 I was advised lower arm by a few people... then when I saw the coros arm HR being used by a few people on the bicep I decided to make that change when I got mine! Honestly... this coros arm HR is more comfy but I dont notice a difference in the readings from lower arm to upper arm, I got stable results in both places
Well done Andy, as a nurse I worry abit about high caffeine and heart rate. Are you getting all your nutritional advice from a sports dietician or someone else?
Thanks Amanda! Really appreciate the feedback... can I ask what you would recommend would be the max you'd recommend pre race? No advice given, just tried in training so replicating on race day. Its an assumption on my part, and possibly a wrong one... but the SIS nootropics gels have 200mg caffiene in them and i've used them before plenty of times... so I have always figured that if I had 200mg or less then that would be OK! What are your thoughts?
@TheFODRunner If your body has adapted to that dose already, not so bad but you can get a tolerance too so be careful, I would certainly advise some professional guidance as nutritional brands just want to sell products . Soda bicarb has been around for years, it's just got trendy, again too much of anything is not good Athletes are prone to developing atrial fibrillation
@TheFODRunner oops didn't finish. Caffeine is noted to cause atrial fibrillation. I'm all for Caffeine, not wanting to be a party pooper. Just get the best advice. 😀
@@amandawalker4510 Thank you for sharing! I usually drink two cups of coffee a day, usually strong coffees...but never ever more than two cups. I drink the tassimo XL capsules at work and they have 80mg caffeine in each, so 160g a day Monday - Friday... As for the sodium bicarb... I dont plan on making that a regular occurrence.. now I have tested it in training and had a successful race, I will only use it on race days moving forward and maybe the odd time trail / hard workout! Really appreciate you sharing this
@@amandawalker4510 not at all! Thanks for sharing! My brother has atrial fibrillation… he’s had it most of his life. I went to the doctors a few years ago and said to them that I run marathons but my brother has this heart issue and they referred me for a full scan where they injected dye into my and scanned me in an MRI machine to check my heart… thankfully it came back all clear and it’s honestly been such a wonderful feeling to of had that scan done, because I appreciate not everyone can get it done and there’s so many underlying and undiagnosed heart conditions out there!
Ha I was actually on the edge of my seat as you were catching up 😂
Haha thanks! I ran out of road sadly, I was proper gassed at the end! I tried though! He was a great runner

Superb Andy! Great video and brilliant racing, fitness coming through!
Cheers mate! Keep up the good work yourselves
Congratulations Andy... ! Looks like a great "simple" event. Something you really need after a long Marathon block and race :)
Thanks! It was indeed, always welcomed at the end of the year when most of the serious training is done!
Even though I knew the result I was still on the edge of my seat😃- great video and well done!
What a way to (almost) cap off a triumphant year 🎉

Nice result Andy, some spicy hills there!
Thanks mate, there were indeed!
One of my favourite local races (have done this 5 times) but I didn't see you!😂
Hi. Coffee and Andy video on morning monday, perfect. Here is my Like.
You are very kind, thank you! Have a great Monday!
Fantastic run Andy, great race to watch too! Do you think the extra work you've been doing on the hills recently has made you stronger?
Congrats on P2! Absolutely solid work. We're all curious as to who you went to see the night before, by the way
Thanks mate, it was Story Of The Year and Yellowcard
Definitely need to try bi carr b. Ketone IQ is just sooo expensive. You must have some great embedded fitness. Well done 🏆

Woah maybe I should up my caffeine as I only have a cup of coffee before then it’s just water unless I’m going over 10k then I’ll take a isotonic gel
Hi Andy how did you take bi carb and where do you get it, cheers
www.bicarrb.com/ thats where I buy it from! 2 hours before, there are instructions on the packaging but you make the hydrogel first then mix in the bicarb
Just from the speed of talk it sounds like the caffeine is doing its job
I was wired
I see you switched HRM from forearm to upper arm, any reasoning for this? I prefer upper arm (my theory being closer to heart 🤷♂️)
Back in the day when I first got the polar OH1 I was advised lower arm by a few people... then when I saw the coros arm HR being used by a few people on the bicep I decided to make that change when I got mine! Man, that much caffeine before a race would have... dramatic effects on me.
I thought I would be the same, but not even a stomach grumble!
