Silves has been a BIG surprise for us for several reasons:
    𝟭. The vibrant red color of the sandstone of the castle (2:48) and the turret of the city gate (13:43), is one that sticks in your mind.
    𝟮. The crazy 𝐌𝐨𝐨𝐫𝐢𝐬𝐡 𝐝𝐞𝐬𝐢𝐠𝐧 and 𝐚𝐳𝐮𝐥𝐞𝐣𝐨 𝐩𝐚𝐭𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐧𝐬 shown at 17:00 and 14:25.
    𝟑. The "𝘚𝘦𝘨𝘳𝘦𝘥𝘰 𝘥𝘰𝘴 𝘔𝘰𝘶𝘳𝘰𝘴" (11:00): a truly a delightful place where you can taste good wine with a privileged view.
    𝟒. The unexpected relaxing atmosphere of its narrow streets (10:45)
    𝟱. The other attractions listed in the description.
What about you? Is Portugal 🇵🇹 in your no. 1 travel to-do? Let us know in comments below 🙂.
📅 Next tour will be out on January 29, we'll walk through the streets of the picturesque 𝐎𝐫𝐭𝐢𝐬𝐞𝐢 (St. Ulrich), a small town located in the so-called "Val Gardena" (Gardena Valley)!

I visited Silves in early Spring 2022 and found it charming and restful. The quiet allows the history of the town and region to sink in (without the distractions of larger communities). A walk along the Rio Arade is quite enjoyable. Castelo de Silves is the highlight of any visit and well worth it for anyone with an interest in the Islamic era in Portugal. I enjoyed my first (of many more) meals of Porco Preto in Silves!

What a fantastic video. We stopped off at Silves for one day during a charity car drive from the UK in 2008 to meet up with an old friend who now lives with his Portuguese wife in this beautiful town. Thank you Graham and Bella for your hospitality :-)

Eu adoro essas cidades do Sul da Península Ibérica. Toda essa arquitetura de origem mourisca, essa mistura da influência árabe com a estética católica, resulta em algo realmente vibrante, exótico e muito bonito.

Beautiful town. However, I miss the trees on the streets, which is practically non-existent. That is why they tend artificial shade. It is understood that the exposure to the sun in its streets is very high.

You've got the point Pax, it was a very muggy day and those cooling shades were a lifesaver.
