- Here are blurry pics and shaky videos of my visit in the German Tank Musem In Munster on the 9th of August 2014. It is an awesome museum and the people i met there were great. Thank you to everyone who got there and did the tour with me :)
I used music from the RUclips Audio Library for this video.
Wow, totally interesting awesome museum. Would love to visit one day. Thankyou for sharing your great video. Regards from Queensland, Australia.
You are welcome :)
Another excellent tour of an excellent museum Michael. Thank you so much for taking the time to put this together. I had no idea that there were so many wonderful pieces still so well preserved. I need to see that museum some day and soon.
Coen C i knew you would like it :) sharing those pics with everyone who could not come over there is obligatory and the next best thing after a personal visit :) some of the old tanks are still in working order, others look pretty patched up. anyway, it is interesting to see them in real for a change and not only as a miniature. their size is really impressive, even a panzer IV is huge!
I was there is 2009, and the museum is fantastic. What a collection. The town is also a great place to walk about, with beautiful scenery and right on the DB line as well
i agree, it is a very pleasant area there in general plus the tanks :)
The Munster Museum has been on my list of things to see for some time. Thank you so much for taking the time to get close ups. The detail shots are great resources for us Treadheads :)
Russell Gosselin cheers russel :) i kept this in mind to film some detail on the tanks, especially the steely surfaces provide good reference material for any tank model builder.
That museum is like hitting the jackpot at a gambling casino! This is a model kit builder's dream. Most the famous tanks in the world are under one roof! I wish I was there with you. I would be there for days. I'll probably stayed the night there sleeping because I won't leave. :)
qdc748a haha i can well imagine that collin :) i spent 4 hours in the museum, we were pretty fast actually! i´m glad you like it so much, it is indeed an exceptional cool museum.
Just viewed your video of the Munster tank museum and WOW! You did excellent photographs of all that was there especially the close ups of the extra stowage, tools, cables, just about everything else. I have been to the Aberdeen tank museum and everything is outside but still it was fun to go and kick the tires and tracks on all that was there!
thanks for your appreciation!
Wow. What a seriously cool museum. I really new to visit ...three years living in Bremen and I didn't even know this place existed...wasted youth! Thank for sharing Michael. I bet you have loads of inspiration now for future builds:)
Armour Empire you certainly missed something mark :) maybe you can get over here again at some point? lots of inspiration indeed, luckily i never seriously lack inspiration.
This is great Hamilkar. I like the shots of the detailing.
You are welcome Russ!
Great Video and great collection. Thank you! Sorry I haven't seen it sooner
Thank you very much!
Amazing! Just amazing. Visiting a museum in Germany is a great pleasure because, unlike Romania, in your country there are people like you who want to preserve the history that they respect. Very unfortunately, there is no such respect for history and the ones who died in torture in my country.
Cheers!
David Victor cheers! i love museums, i visit such facilities very often, never get enough of it.
Fantastic museum, they have an awesome collection, thank you so much for sharing this!
ScaleModelKitReview you are welcome.
Michael an awesome vid there my friend great shots on the armour and a vid that will be i my favourites thanks for the share i liked the last pic of you with the tank top stuff bud all the best :)
Faron Adams cheers faron, i´m glad you like it so much :)
Thanks for an excellent tour. The close up of the Marder Infantry fighting vehicle engine compartment was particularly appreciated. That Panther sure looks sweet. I was surprised to see a Merkava, yet no KV or JS series.
Panzer4F2 you are welcome :) i have seen several JS tanks on display in berlin, but i agree it is weird that this particular museum does not feature them. anyway, it everything else was there and it was good :)
Perfect museum and perfectly done video!
Thanks!
Good to see that Munster managed to get hold of that SWS. They must have acquired that only in the last couple of years. It certainly wasn't there when I visited this museum back in '06
Nice vid!
Dougie G thank you :) they keep getting new stuff from time to time, really nice.
Lucky dude...I would lose my mind walking into that building. Great video, thanks for sharing.
you are welcome :)
awesome! i see they added some new vehicles since i was there.
It is realy a huge museum, i could be there days hahaha!
That Tiger is impressive, it was restored/build with parts from all around europe :)
Thank you for sharing with us!
i was there about 13 years ago and a lot has changed, the museum is definately even better than it used to be :)
I remembered you said you were going to do this. I asked if you'd put it up...and you said you intended to anyway. Thanks! Not sure if I'll ever set foot on German soil. But at least someone is good enough to show it to me. Danke Herr Mike...Gary
Thanks Hamilkar, nice close up shots with good details =)
The Tiger has all ways been my favorite tank. my bucket list is to touch one one day. Thank you. I like your channel. thought you might want to know
Eric Brown cheers eric :D
An awesome collection of Armour "Eye Candy" - thanks for sharing
Donovan Bedford you are welcome.
Awesome video of a fantastic collection....obviously '413' hit the right spot, but was a bit surprised to see our Stridsvagn 103 or 'S'....would fit nicely next to a StuG III or IV, I think! 👌👍👏
a tank museum without a stridsvagn is not complete :) it is a highly interesting vehicle! even built one as a model :)
I've always like the 'S'!
....the lovechild between a StuG IIIF/8 and a Jagdpanzer IV/70(V) Lang? 😉😄
Great pics of pure awesomeness Mikey....perfect reference stuff for all : )
cheers chris :)
I wish I could have been there.....:( It looks like it was a great trip with lots of steel scenery.
it would have been a pleasure to meet you there :) one day we will meet, i know it!
i´m glad you enjoyed the show.
Fantastic video my friend !🎩👌👍👏👏👏🥇🏆
Cheers! It is a very good museum.
Great video, Michael! Very interesting, informative and usefull! You should have had so much fun... ! Thank you for sharing, mate! :))
Toni G Castroviejo you are welcome toni :)
Thanks for your shaky videos. ¡Great museum!
Miguel Altés you are welcome :)
Still beautiful beasts after all this time. Thanks.
Opal Preston Shirley cheers :)
I was getting worried... I thought to myself, what kind of tank museum is this, that hasn't got a Swedish S-Tank.. and there it was.. if only very briefly, towards the end!! :) :) Great tour around the museum, I would have loved to have spent a day there.. they even had a Sherman!! :) Too many tanks and vehicles on show to mention them all but what stood out to me were the former DDR tanks and vehicles, but yes.. would have loved to spend a day there like I said, from opening until closing time... easily.. :) You hopefully got plenty of reference pictures for any future builds... :) Tanks for the tour, most enjoyable.. ;)
haha the s-tank is not a common sight in museums i think, but they have one and it was really impressive to take a look at it. it is so tiny yet it looks cunning! great machine.
by the way, talking about sweden and the DDR.
You told me once that you were some sort of radar operator during your army time in sweden and that you tracked the east german aircraft over the baltic sea.
Well, the father of my brother in law used to fly an east german Mig 21 in the late 70´s and early 80´s and thats exactly what he did, playing games with the swedish airforce and their radar system :)
Hamilkar Barkas Well, we knew what they were up to.. the trick was not to send up the Drakens as soon as we saw them, but to wait (for quite some time, I should say, as we saw them very early) before scrambling the J35's, as not to give the game away.. No doubt I saw your brother-in-laws father on the odd occasion, for some reason he and his colleagues used to turn around and fly back as soon as the Drakens were airborne.. perhaps they weren't looking forward to the company!! ;)
Rob BasicModelling
it was a game indeed, he told me that too :) he said he encountered the swedish planes a couple of times both parties were flying next to each other, the pilots would wave their hands at each other and say goodbye. apparently it was not a hostile act at all, more like a routine meeting over the baltic sea without a previous appointment :)
Hamilkar Barkas Yes, a bit of both I guess.. :) A reaction test and friendly greeting at the same time.. :) Either way, the worst ones for actually flying over and crossing into Swedish territorial waters were the RAF and their Nimrods, who did it regularly.. The Warzaw pact planes were overall very well behaved.. :) :) And it was always very interesting to follow the Russians when they had a big exercise going over the baltic sea.. they used to dispense a lot of chaff, but we could see through it.. (most of the time)!
That 234/4 was always my favorite outta all the different 234 versions.
I think i would prefer the others, but that does not mean that i don´t like the Sd.Kfz. 234/4.
Nice video tour, so many nice tanks!
you are welcome!
A very interesting tour! Thanks for sharing!
you are welcome :)
I would have spend most of my time in the Cold war and modern Section !!! LOL
Excellent video mate !!!! Wow ! Thanks for sharing this with us !
Norm Lajoie of course you would have been there :) haha, i can imagine how you would run from tank to tank and take a look at it from every angle! their collection of modern vehciles is pretty impressive.
+Hamilkar Barkas danke
Great video and music. The hammond organ, the distorted blues guitars and 70-ies rock harmonizes well with the second world war setting.
cheers!
Hamilkar Barkas Sorry, haha, couln't resist. Great video though :)
Very cool video! Thanks for sharing
***** you are welcome!
Great study material for scale models too :)
Indeed! Its also nice to see the real vehicles for a change.
I live in Munster, the museum was the best, 2 years ago, they sold the most of the gung in the other root with the uniforms.
Flogy96 was there the first time 13 years ago, a lot has changed but i think the museum is better now.
Du machst coole videos weiter so ;D
1 word for this video, ausgezeichnet. I really liked the Afrika Korps stuff, Rommel being a fellow Swabian. There used to be a panzer IV here on Long Island painted as an AK vehicle. I think the owner got it from Syria.
Rudi Hauschild many P IV´s were sold to syria by the french in the late 40´s and early 50´s. they ended up in terrible condition there.
Thx for sharing loved it
cheers!
I recall some short videos with a German guy named Kim Frank. He did some DDR conscript videos, only in German but one gets the idea.
Thanks you Hamilkar, very nice !
you are welcome :)
since we didn't know how many prototypes the SP1C is made then I noticed that the tank in 18:24 was using the SP1C chassis and also I find out there is also an complete SP1C with turret on display on the wehrtechnische studiensammlung koblenz museum so based on the facts it looks like there is 2 SP1C prototypes was built one is complete and one is only the chassis then the chassis was taken and then tested with a small turret and made a tank called the SP kurz (18:24 )
not sure where you are going with this, but the vehicle in the video is a SPz kurz (Hotchkiss) and it had the same turret as the SPz lang (HS30). both vehicles were common service vehicles, so the SPz kurz in the video is not a prototype at all.
Sorry but thats not what i meant I cant speak english too fluently but before this SP kurz was made SP1C was made so the chassis was taken and then they placed this turret on the SP1C chassis wich made the SP kurz I already edited the comment again
at minute 3 : 17 we are looking at a Czech made light tank - 38 T Prague , the Czech military equipment fell into the hands of the Nazis after Hitler occupied Czechoslovakia in March 1939 , great museum , I hope to visit this place one day
you mean a czechoslovakian tank?
its a nice museum, things are well displayed and accessable.
The problem in England (especially air museums) is the lack of 'Eastern bloc' aircraft, might upload a video with some images from some museums come to think of it
Yes, the german tank museum in Munster was fortunate to take by reunion many Russian tanks of the former East German Army (NVA). The British Museum would have had to make an effort to have also one exemplar of all Tanks. In 1990, the crowd was still enough to start a middle war. Tt would not have been a problem.
Na endlich ist das Video da:D
Ritter Meier gutes braucht zeit :)
When I see Panther ausf As as museum pieces on the internet, they have no zimmerit most of the time. I know this sound like a frivolous question. Did any ausf As serve in their units without zimmerit? Or has it deteriorated/removed? Thanks if you've time? Later...Gary
Gary Armstrong it was built between summer 1943 till june 1944, so this was exactly the time where the zimmerit coat was ordered by the command to be applied on every tank. there were only very few exceptions. such a tank without the zimmerit would be something unusual.
Hamilkar Barkas Exactly Herr Mike. I'm on the same page. This is why this puzzles me. The only thing I can think of as far as the Panthers that survive these days is that the zimmerit deteriorated and was removed. It's a lot of work to restore it. I think Jacque Littlefield's Panther had this done. As far as special circumstances during the war, what would they be? I can't think of any. And, ALL the Panther A photos I've seen from WW II have zimmerit for the very reason you said! Anyway...nice talkin' Hamilkar...Danke...Gary
is it worth going there if I visited Bovington Tank Museum?
pudelosha i´d say yes. bovington has not that many vehicles of the german federal army and the east german army i can imagine.
Hamilkar.. enjoyed the tank museum tour !! question for you Did the Luftwaffe Field Divisions have different color uniforms then the Wehrmacht. I think I read that their uniforms were more of a blue color then greenish. Do you know?
thank you, i´m glad you like it :)
it appears like their uniforms were a bit more blue-grey, but i´m not that familiar with this exact topic.
Danke !
i would give my thumb to be there a whole day! even the sidecar bike with the MG!! man... i´ve had the pleasure to fire the MG machine gun in 93/94/and 95... but from a sidecar... forget it! and the tanks... oh my!!!!
cheers, i´m glad you like it! it is really an awesome museum well worth the visit :) took me 650km to get there.
at 4:20.. that tower is from a PZ IV right?
indeed, must be a very early type, i assume it belongs to an A version.
welcome to every modeler's dream ;) awesome man
fastkit CY it was indeed a dream :)
Punzermuseum even the name is awesome
Michael if i may whats the first music track on the video?
Bill Koutroulis hehe indeed :) the song is called "don´t look" and can be found in the YT audio libray for free download.
Great video mate, is it right that the Tiger I is a plastic replica? and also what is the name of the video's opening instrumental?
Yes the tiger is a replica. The owner of the original one that was there before put an engine in and the military were going to demill it by breaking the engine so he sold it to someone in the usa
First Class Panzer Museum - 10/10 !!!
cheers! well worth a visit.
I want to go to the Munster Tank Museum!
Its worth a visit if you are in the area.
@@HamilkarBarkasScaleModellingI was amazed at the examples they have there. I live in England, and my dream is to see the Tiger (and the others) in the Tank Museum in Bovington. One day. . . One day!
nice museum; too bad the names of the vehicles were not provided to us who know very little...when my wife and I visited the small outdoor exhibit of vehicles at our Rock Island Arsenal, she made a foto of each vehicle and then the vehicle; I don't think these fotos are online now; Rob used my foto of a Sherman for one of his videos so it is there still. It is a knocked out tank from the battle of the bulge, the shell marks are marked, in yellow, I think, so ppl can see where it was hit; it has a platform built upon it so that ppl can look into the tank. Thanks for this vid and it looks as if your tour is working out nicely; if you go to Finland, the tank museum is called Parola...I have not seen it, only the air museums at 'Tikkakoski (central Finland) and one near Helsinki airport at Vantee...ok, once again, danke :)
granskare i did not include the pics because most of viewers know it anyway and should i make a spelling mistake people will definately annoy me, happened many times. the editing job would be extreme aswell, i hope you don´t mind that :)
ok- perhaps many misspellings would be something for ppl to look forward to, eh?
WTF is with the camouflage fake Ram at the beginning?
Just for decoration and giggles i guess :)
Echt nah dran! Top!
enjoyed that,
regards allan
chavey65 cheers.
I wanna be there so badly
nico gerlero so come over here :)
Hamilkar Barkas I will do when I get the money :)
I see Coen visited before you. The camo goat is the big clue...
Forbes Hutton haha!
Sehr interessant
Manuel H. aber sicher :)
Where is this museum again?
In the German town of Munster, as the title suggest. Not to be confused with Münster by the way!
@@HamilkarBarkasScaleModelling Thanks. Helpful distinction. I hope to visit someday. I have always been an interested fan of German Panzer design and development.
You are welcome. It is well worth a visit, its a nice area in general there.
@@HamilkarBarkasScaleModelling where does one locate the town Munster, as opposed to larger city of Munster? What part of eastern or western Germany?
Both places are in what used to be West Germany, Munster with its Tank Museum is right between Hamburg and Hannover, while Münster is located a fair bit north of the Ruhr area, roughly half way between Osnabrück and Dortmund.
I’m surprised Angela Merkel has allowed the museum to stay open-it’s too patriotic for her ‘We are all the same’ bollocks-🏴✊really excellent video!!
Not sure how a museum about tanks would affect state affairs, especially since it is run by the German army itself.
nice video but did you have to play that type of music
I did turn it down in the end I did enjoy your video
i totally had to use that music indeed, because fart noises were the alternative.
Hamilkar Barkas well it's not the sort of music that I would add to this type of video
Still you enjoy your music. I will not be looking at any more of your videos witch is a shame I am very interested in German WW11 Tanks Tigers
are my favourite and
I intend to visit our UK Tank Museum I don't need a load of bad language if you do reply I'm 67 years old perhaps that's the reason I don't like the music
do you imply i should have known what kind of music each of the 25.000+ people who watched this video like and choose the music accordingly? what can i do about it now? redo the video just for you with different music (hoping you like it this time)? it is impossible to please everyone, period. thats why people who try to point out that they don´t like a detail of my videos (like the music) get a pretty blunt reply, which is an obvious reaction as i explained above.
in your case just mute the video or walk on, it is entirely up to you whether you take it or leave it. i won´t get any reward in any case.
you are welcome!
You can't just use every music you like just willy-nilly on JewTube
very good tanks fnd guns tiger, hummel
i modelist love the stuff they have there :)
I am going there in a week or so.
Krister Andersson enjoy your stay!
Hamilkar Barkas Ich willen,
***** Well my girlfriend and I are going to the Netherlands to visit some friends of hers and on the way back we make a stop there.
where is panzer maus
In Kubinka.
Great video! Really wanted to go here on my recent trip to Europe but couldn't fit it in! Wish I had though.......the German Military History Museum in Dresden and Imperial War Museum in London were absolute pus!!!!!........................Filled to the brim with politically correct bullshit!!!!
i have not visited both yet, but i can imagine that this is the case.
die meisten kenne ich nur wegen world of tanks
na immerhin :)
Terrible music!
Terrible comment!
