- Woodie and I went to Excellence El Carmen, Dominican Republic in December 2021 and absolutely loved the resort! We knew we'd go back so I thought I would do some videos of the buildings and room numbers for future reference and share with you all. It's not perfect because I didn't really think too hard about what I wanted to show in my final video but this will help you get an idea.
This video does not identify the room types, but shows the excellence club building room numbers to the best that I could show. I shot the videos inside the buildings early in the morning after shooting sunrises, but the halls were so dark since they don't put on the lights during the day! So, sorry for that part, but I did try to show the building fronts when I remembered! Sadly, I didn't get all the sides of each building but you can see the way they are all numbered none-the-less.
I only walked the main floor corridors as the rooms were pretty much numbered the same on the second floor and I was able to show the roof top numbers on the exterior videos.
I welcome anyone who has stayed there to share their room reviews and room numbers, ie; sunlight during the day, bugs (curious about those private swim ups surrounded by shrubs), noise levels, etc. Please keep it to the subject of the rooms though.
We stayed in room 9162 and it was fantastic. Pretty quiet, nice view, I loved laying on the balcony bed at the end of the day (grab a couple of extra towels though to lay on it). I would try to move closer to the end like in 9165 as it is that much closer to the ocean.

Thanks for the detail in this video, were you able to choose the room ahead of time? I booked a non excellence room and I wasn't able to select the room or building. I'm wondering if that's only a perk to excellence club? Do you know if it's possible to request certain buildings or rooms?
I really like 5c , i was in an oceanfront room, they have wedding in front of that building

How do you become an excellence club member? How much does it cost? And, thank you for the video.
Oh sorry, I didn’t find this message until now! You just have to choose an excellence club room rather than regular room when you book your holiday. The cost just depends on the room type in one of the EC buildings (swim up, etc).
Do you recommend building 9 then for beachfront honeymoon plunge rooftop terrace? We prefer quieter and sun to be on us still later in afternoon
Hi, thanks for watching! Building 9 is definitely quieter and that would be our choice. I'm not sure on the amount of sun though for the beachfront suites because the afternoon sun would be behind the building and may cast a shadow. Take a look for some other videos of the RTT and maybe you'll be able to tell. Good luck!!

no 9 is a good choice far away from the noise
my wife and i stayed in room no 9073 end room just before imperial rooms i noticed room no 9071 has a larger pool area from your room next time i will try and get this room

Can you actually choose your rooms ahead of time? We are leaving in 3 days honeymoon beach front swim up. Recommendations? We are two couples with 2 rooms with the same room type
Sorry for the late reply! A person can 'request' a specific room number but there is no guarantee at all as it is based on occupancy at the time. I hope you have a great time!!!
Hi i jusr booked a two story plunge pool directly thru excellent site and i didnt have the option to chose room. Are you saying you're able to pick when you make it to the resort? Thanks in advance
Sorry, I haven’t checked my channel for a bit and didn’t see your message. When we book through our travel agent we let her know our room preferences and she lets the hotel know. It’s not guaranteed though but if they can accommodate they will. You will love your room and I’m sure you will enjoy your stay!

i did notice that building no 7 the beach front rooms swim out looked bigger than building no 9 iam i right or would you know
I actually didn't notice that. I would recommend joining the We Love Excellence El Carmen facebook group and ask someone who is there now.
Was it loud around the main pool area later in the day? Would the noise effect your stay in buildings 5 or 7?
In the late afternoon it’s not too bad after all the games are done. I didn’t find noise from the restaurants to be too bad and the upper x-lounge was used only by a few people and/or quiet groups when we were there. The only time the plaza was used was for fire shows so I don’t think it would be too bad, but we always stay far away from those areas as we’ve had noise problems at other resorts in the past. Might be good for people watching if you’re not on ground level. Fyi, I highly recommend going up to star gaze at night at x-lounge. They have 4 beds up there so you can lay back and drink your cocktails from the bar and relax. It was great! I always grabbed a couple towels because I didn’t like the waterproof fabric. If you are on facebook you could post your question to one of the excellence groups to see if anyone else has some advice.
I stayed in building 5 on the beach/pool side just last week for my honeymoon. I didn’t find any noise issues in the late afternoon on most nights. They had a pretty big dinner festival the one night, but other nights it was pretty quiet.

We have booked an Excellence Club Rooftop Terrace plunge pool suite and I’m wondering which building (or even top two) from your experience is the best for privacy, view and afternoon sun?
Would I be correct in thinking 3B & 9B? Or is facing the opposite direction better for the sun?

Hi Jodie, my recommendation would be 9B. The only reason being that 3B is at the edge of the resort facing the other hotel Finest, and although I’m not positive, you may hear more noise coming from there. We were happy with the sun and quietness in 9B and if we did a RTT, that is where we would choose…. 7B might give you better people watching and fire show but might be noisier. Enjoy!

Thanks so much for the reply Tracey. So just to clarify all the A side of the buildings don’t get good sun? Is that the downfall with say 9A? What does 9A face? Is it another resort? I was just going to request two different building/sides so if 9 is our best building just wondered if I should only request 9B or would 9A be just as good ?

Correct, side B gets sun for most of the day, but since you are doing RTT, it may not matter as much once the sun gets higher but I am really not certain of the amount. I would still say the B side would be better. 9A faces another resort that was still under construction when I was there in December and people were complaining of the construction noise on that side. If you are on facebook, I highly recommend that you check welcome to Excellenc El Carmen group. You might get some better advice from people who are there now or who stayed in the RTTs.

So my husband has decided he wants the noisy people watching side so for 7B I saw in your video the room numbers all in the place of the rooms they be as you did for building 3,7,9 but I didn’t see one for building 5. I’m specifically looking at finding the room number in 5A top floor closest to the beach ? For example 7B it’s 7264
Would 5A be 5264 or 5254? If I’m guessing the room numbers correctly

Hi Jodie, ok I found the building 5 video so I cross checked with the interior numbering system. The rooms closest to the beach would be 5055 on the ground floor, then the second floor room is 5155. The rooms next to it have 3 floors (5054, 5154 and 5254 roof top terrace) so yes, like Building 7. So yes, if you look at 6:55 timestamp in the video it is the exact layout of Building 5 so that suite at the end has the second floor and I 'think' it has two levels so I'm guessing that Bldg 5 is the same. I hope that makes sense. So if you want the one 'closest' to the beach it would be 5155. If you want the highest level it would be 5254. My video clip that I looked at doesn't really show that end of the building very well. What I would highly recommend is that you search for Excellence El Carmen drone videos on youtube (there are a couple) and you can get an aerial view of those roof tops. :-) I hope that helps!!
...and actually, now that I look at this video again, that second floor for 5155 appears to be next to the wall of Building C so I think you're better off in 5254 as you would see over and get a better view. That is my best guess!!
