    This is one strange car.... At first you think £65k for a Hyundai... "No Way!".... Then you drive it and realise it is a total bargain and s real weapon on the road. Something that will whip a £130,000 Audi or even a Lambo! Add in the fact that its a massively useable family car (with room for four six ft adults) that can tow! Forget the daft Essex-Boy blue and choose the Gloss Black. I've owned three AMGs and a couple of full race track cars. So I love my petrol cars. Yet, this Hyundai still made me smile. One of the most fun cars I have driven in a few years.

      My opinion I'm afraid is a lot of these big modern cars just don't look great in the darker colours - I think it's because the design creases get lost in the dark colours and they end up looking like a big blob. Ioniq 5 (and N) is the same imo

    • @mikadavies660
      @mikadavies660 Месяц назад +1

      @@jamesraisonx I was drawn to the 5N in black, as spoilers, body creases and diffusers all vanish. Red is nice but it's a 5N from 100m away... Black and it's just a 5... Unless you really know. Even the black Hyundai badges vanish.
      I do however, hate the amount of care and cleaning a black car takes.

    The simulated engine noises might seem like a silly gimmick, but if it gives you more audio feedback about what the car is doing and what speed you're going at, then why not?

    • @DefinitelyNotAGuru

      Yeah, they sound pants at idle and when in motion they’re a huge asset and sound great.

    • @jamesraisonx
      @jamesraisonx Месяц назад +3

      I'm also totally for giving drivers the choice! People that whine and say why make an EV make a noise, or why emulate gears - it's because some drivers that's value other things in their driving experience might want them. Turn them off if you don't want them, personally I would like the choice to turn them on on a B road blast but have them off on a motorway commute

    I love my Ionic 5N. It's literally the only one I have ever seen on the road, and can smoke anything I have seen in my town. It can be a simple family SUV that is virtually silent with tons of room, or a snorting beast with instant acceleration and gear shifts, all at the push of a button. Those who know what this car is, always do double takes and gawk at it.

    Had mine now for 3 weeks, and actually managed to get in 4 weeks from order due to dealer stock purchase. As a true petrol head, who has owned multiple high end performance cars from M3, RS's, AMGs and also ride motorbikes getting me away from an ICE was going to be a push. Nothing excited me until I saw a review online for this car from another well respected driving journo and without even driving it, ordered it.
    Have to say it's even better than I hoped. I have the matt performance blue and yes, it's not for everyone, but it's a real head turner. But from sitting in it, and driving it, it feels solid, planted and like a "normal car". Agree with Jim, playstation engine sounds at standstill sound awful but once moving give you a real engagement with the car and whats its doing. I have customised a drive mode, and have e-Shift enabled (but in automatic) and honesty, I have remind myself it's not a ICE car. The spec level on this car as standard is incredible with head up display, heated front and rear seats plus heated steering. The cameras are incredible too.
    Honestly, I dread to think how much you would spend in any other electric performance car to get this package and numbers, in fact, any car, would see you spending 150k+. And as for performance.....unless you encounter a V12 Lambo or stupidly tuned 1000bhp car at a set of lights or on the road.....they WILL watch you disappear! The numbers are mind boggling and the first time I did a launch with full Grin Boost, it almost made me feel sick. Almost ridiculous. And HILARIOUS! In this day and age, it's all about disrupters and for me, this is the no.1 disrupter in the EV space. But please don't buy one, as I want them to stay rare ;-)

    If BMW were to make that vehicle and enhance its interior with more luxurious finishes, they could easily charge 200 million won for it. The price that Hyundai has set is remarkably low. This is because they've utilized automated robots for production. Considering the logistics costs of shipping from South Korea to Europe and the additional customs duties, I believe they've offered a substantial discount. The price at which it's sold within South Korea is also at a similar level. In fact, Koreans end up paying more. Due to geopolitical reasons, there's a term called 'Korea Discount,' which indicates that Korean companies are undervalued. As a result, the exchange rate has also fallen significantly, showing a different aspect compared to the European economy.

      Track days. Normal car during the week, monster at weekends.

      For the performance it’s extremely well priced against it’s competitors

      Way too expensive compared to what? What other car offers this performance and practicality that cheap?

      5N is the first time when I hear people saying a track-ready 600hp car with cooling to match for that price is expensive lol.

    This is a very special car.
    The 2025 Hyundai Ioniq 5 N can complete a quarter-mile in 11.0-11.1 seconds at 123-124.9 mph £65,000
    I bought the most expensive car I could afford Smart #1 Brabus £43,450
    Here is a comparison.. quarter mile 12.1 seconds at 112 mph. A good bet if you are £21,500 short of the 5N ❤

    Sorry. It's a Hyundai. I cannot spend that sort of money on a Hyundai.

      Yes, that's right. Chinese people should drive Chinese cars.

      It would never be a British gentleman who writes ignorant and low-level comments that don't know how the world changes. It would be a Chinese or an Indian.

    I see that there’s a lot of these at dealers, pre registered, but with little or no money off.

      They’ll sell as they are I’m sure - well prices versus the competition
