7 minutes of three people staring at each other. But Sergio Leone and Ennio Morricone manage to make it one of the greatest scenes in movie history. Pure Brilliance!
@@donvitocorleone2098 I remember when we watched this during class and someone actually did that. Never have i witnessed such murderous intent packed into one room towards one person.
Right after The Ecstasy of Gold, when you're thinking, "Holy shit, nothing could top that scene" this fucking beautiful score comes along. It's too much.
Ladies and Gentleman, here we have THE ONLY MAN ON THE PLANET who can turn three guys just staring at each other into one of the most memorable moments in movie history
This piece is “The Trio”, (“Il Triello”), I am mexican. I hear it and I feel it deep inside. Maestro Morricone created one of the most beautiful pieces of music ever heard in the movies. Actually, is the one I like the most of the whole The Good, The Bad and The Ugly soundtrack.
@kevin pierson It's more than $4million in today's money, and things were much less costly back them (no flat screen TVs, Ferraris, even running water pipes...) At the beginning, the $1000 given to Angel Eyes ($20,000 today) he called it a "tidy sum" a small fortune. Tuco's bounty was also worth $40,000 today.
One of my dad's favorite songs. He would play it on a cassette tape in the car driving through Florida. Can't hear this without crying. Absolutely beautiful and reminds me of every minute with him.
This composition fits perfect to one of the best western movie scenes ever, some people might think it is too long but it is not, the length is brilliant as this scene is the "Grande Finale" of the movie.
FACTS! The film is so dang good and the score so fitting that you don’t even notice how much time is passing! 🤣 This is my first time finding out it’s 7 minutes! 🤣☠️🤣
@@CHICK-A-BOOM Exactly the same here, I only noticed after the fact that I had just been watching three men looking at each other for seven minutes straight, all while being on the edge of my seat.
@@CHICK-A-BOOM I rewatched this recently and this scene is still absolutely gripping even if you know what is going to happen. Just pure mastery of filmmaking and score.
There are so many levels to this piece of music, capturing perfectly the desired effect of director Sergio Leone. It is the closest to total perfection, including the music, to a film climax in film history -- never to be equaled by CGI or anything before or since.
i remember how unexpected it actually came when i watched it for the first time breaking right into the music in a scene that seemed to go on forever (in a good way) as i was just thinking whoever shoots first is doomed

I listen to all of ennio morricone western music when I play Mccree on overwatch or when I'm playing red dead redemption it really does give you that old spaghetti western feel to the games and characters in my opinion

God dammit, I watched the movie for about seven times, I lost count how many times did I replay the standoff scene just to listen to the music and still the very moment the mexican trumpets hit I get the chills and almost tear up, so unbelievably dramatic this composition is
My father made me watch this movie .I've mocked him first until I saw its brilliant scenes ,heard its masterpiece song and felt its actor emotions through the screen .I was amazed and speechless. What a movie , I have enjoyed every seconds of it.
the score used in the movie is better,it has the sound effects that I can only guess are tube amps being hit hard, making metal coils shake is some how soothing :)
As far as movies go, Dr.Strangelove is at the tippy top of my list. However, other greats like this and others hold a special place in my heart...so far removed from the tripe we see from Hollywood now.
This movie is a true masterpiece, great fitting music. Whereas John Wayne's westerns were fucking cheesy and trapped in a bullshit era. Look at True Grit, made over ten years after this film, and cheesy as fuck with bad delivery and 'happy' music in the action scenes. Sorry, I like my westerns with badasses and realism. Ironically, any of Eastwood's westerns have grit. Whereas True Grit has fucking none of it.
I have come to realise that feeding children is a Mexcian standoff you need them to eat, they know they have to eat, but both parties have to play the game!!! Play this song and tell them when the music is over the plate best be empty!!!!! It worked!!!!!!
The three parts in this song (detuned guitar, baritone guitar and piano-chimes) represents the three characters. My guess is that it's Tuco-Angel Eyes-Blondie. The trumpet in the Angel Eyes part develops differently because he's the one that it's going to die.
