The Escape album was released at the perfect time. MTV had just come around and people (like me) got to see the band at home on their TV's for the first time. And it was Journey at their musical and commercial peak! And that line up is what "the Fans" fell in love with and will always draw the biggest crowds. And grandpa Steve Perry doesn't care who's in the band now, because he gets a big fat royalties check paid out to him every time the name "Journey" is used, and his songs are played on tour. When it comes to money, the band will take it all with open arms!
Best era of Journey was def Perry/Rolie era. The album cuts on Escape hold up really well. Would you agree Steve Perry lives rent free in Schon’s head?
Neil and Jonathan still make a lot of MONEY as members of the Journey tribute band, and as the writers of the biggest rock song of all time. I saw them in 2016 and at least they still had Valory and Smith. Coming soon: the Journey avatars!
Not a Sammy fan, but that HSAS album is so damn good. Sam sounds a lot more "street" on that album, more blue collar, as opposed to the "HIGHER N HIGHER" nonsense with Van Hagar. I also love the album with Jan Hammer.
@@caseypsaDavid Gilmour got In the band right after the first album In 67' plus he was In the band at the same time as Syd for a while, so he was there since the very beggining, which's not Cain's case at all...
Rolie is pissed that Schon released Journey Through Time on CD and DVD. They were getting along until that release happened. It is a great live album though, Deen is doing all the Perry songs which must have been a hell of a chore doing that and playing drums for most of the show.

Deen played on a bunch of Shrapnel records... Including a Cacophony album
I hope Hall and Oates can mend their fences too. They're one of my favorite non metal/hard rock bands.
Me to but I think that ship has sailed….

HSAS, is a damn good rock album.
Crazy times
Neal has no issue playing Journey tunes. When the band is off tour, Neal can do collabs.
I saw Journey with Jeff too and yeah it worked for me
Didn’t they do a revival of the early Journey a few years back? I forget the name of it.

How Jonathan Cain got this much power on this band Is insane. The guy Is not even an original member
*ahem* David Gilmour anyone?

Helps when you have you have your hand in writing hit songs
He wrote a ton of their biggest hits
Neal Schon has problems with everyone. Clearly the common denominator.
Translated: The money is far too good to just walk away from.
I wish Greg Rollie would just come back.
