Thank you for detailed instructions hot to setup the chains. Can you please share if you had to replace all of those bolts? And if you can recommend a timing locking kit for these engines you are using or similar. Great job
Ask a stupid question here but, are you not bothering to line the coloured links up because it could take up to 50 revolutions(guess) to line up? Instead you just make sure all the slack is on the tensioner side and that the marks on gears line up? Great vid
Hello. Could you please advice whether the engine chain for Cayenne 2011 (3.0 Diesel) is the same as for Touareg ? Appreciate your response 🙏🏻 in other words saying is it possible to purchase cheaper Touareg chain and apply for Cayenne ?
Did you take the engine out or moved it from it's place? From what I can see you haven't. I see that you removed just the gearbox? Correct if I'm seeing wrong.
Hi, i own an Audi A7 quattro 2011 3.0 diesel 180kw/245hp. I would like to know which is the interval to change the timing chain kit. For the moment is on 130.000 miles / 205.000km. Thank you
Did you have to remove starting motor to unbolt torque converter plate to allow you to separate the gearbox from the engine? I think i can see the starter motor still in place, not sure if it is required. Thanks.
@@differ1 Thanks for the reply. I have the earlier BUG engine from 07 Q7. Not sure if it's the same set up. (Sorry I meant flex plate rather than torque converter)
NEVER have taken out an engine in a vw, Audi, or cayenne wit the chains n the back to do a chain job!! I don’t understand why people Insist it can’t be done🤦🏾 Done it several times on the vr6’s too!
@donataskk354 You dont have to pull engine, but u have to drop transfer case and transmission... Easily a 9hr job if you know what your doing n equipped with the correct tools.
Hello great I'm looking for some advice on these 3.0 tdi engines I'm thinking of buying a 2013 a4 3.0 tdi quattro with cduc engine code with 78000 miles should I worry about the timing chain what is the life expectancy or mileage for these chains any other problems I should be aware of any help is appreciated thanks
I have several questions about this job. 1) where are the timing marks. 2) why does vw have the slack in the gears? What do they adjust and why? 3) do you just tighten the gears down and the computer adjusts the timing or what?
1st question, there are no timing marks needed since you lock the engine down in 4 places, the crank from the bottom where he inserted the pin, and the second locking is the balance shaft counterweight which he also inserted the pin, and then the two gears up top which he inserted the pins as well. so when you lock down all positions then the engine is timed! now you remove all the guides and chains and put new ones and make sure to torque everything down including the tensioners before you release the tensioners, then pull the pins from the tensioner and that will remove all the slacked from the chain and then you go ahead and torque all the bolts for the cams and balance shaft, etc after that then remove the pins, just so you know the oil pump and High-pressure pumps are not timed although you see a cooper link on that chain. the pump builds pressure from the rotation of its gear and yes the computer controls the injection timing using crank and cams sensors.
but keep in mind that the High-pressure pump gear only goes is keyed and it only goes on ONEWAY. which pretty much is where the computer knows its location for #1 cylinder.
I would like to ask Cayenne 2014/09. For a 958 CRCA car, can the engine remain inside when replacing the timing chain? When can a gear and tensioner be replaced? There is a little oil dripping from the car, there are 150000km in the counter. Do I need to remove the engine to replace the crankshaft seal?
wanted to ask same, appears to be in bay. looks like only transmission removed. one of the reasons i am here, finding if i can do it without dropping the engine
I have 2016 Audi A7 TDI. I broke the glow. I am at the stage where I have to replace the driver side cylinder head. Please tell me that for this job, 1) Does engine have to be dropped or it can be done with engine on? 2) Does timing chain has to come off? 3) My car has 116,000km, and from 96,000 when I bought it, I did oil change after every 10,000km or when car says on display, so is it still good to replace timing chain and related parts, while engine is out or I can skip that? I do 90% highway driving. Please do reply cuz once finalized I have to tow my car to mechanic shop. 4) To do Cylinder head replacement and timing chain, how many hours job it will be? One shop told me total 26 hrs, is it correct??
Now the question is: how to make sure that the chain , tensioner and guides last longer so that one doesn’t have to do this time consuming job at a 100,000 km?
@@olegk455 Do not do long life oil change intervals. Every 15k oil change or yearly oil change whichever comes first. If a lot of driving in the cities, then more often.
I've been here before. What a job it was. Thanks for the HPFP info too. Hats off to ya!
Thank you for doing it the right way and doing it by moving the transmission looks like a way better route
So glad you used lube at the end. It was stressing me out 😅
Thank you sir.

Hello is it possisble to change the chain on touareg 3.0 tdi 2012 crca ,just with gearbox out?
Maybe.I have lifted the engine out on it. the gearbox is stuck to the car
i have touareg 2011 3.0 tdi can i change timing chain if i remove gearbox only?
With that, I've lifted the engine out. The gearbox and axles remain in place
Good job but how many kilometre it’s change that??
140000km

yes

In this video, I only removed the gearbox. Today I did one with which I lifted the engine out after removing the gearbox. It also leaks the crankcase

I have audi a6 with the same engine and 260 000 km, the chain is still not heard, the engine works great. I change the oil every 10,000 km
hi i just open my engine timing chain cover and found one chain is very loose.and balancer shaft is moving forward and backward not musch
Hello I have a question do you only remove the front parts of the car ? The engine hasn’t remove?
did not remove the engine
Did you have to remove starting motor to unbolt torque converter plate to allow you to separate the gearbox from the engine?
I think i can see the starter motor still in place, not sure if it is required. Thanks.
this gearbox does not have a torque converter. and the s-tronic has a hole under the gearbox to unscrew the flywheel from the flex plate
