One of the best quotes to remember is "The most important job is the one at hand" when undertaking any task. What a great project!❤️ I'm German and live in Sweden parttime since many years. Beautiful country! ❤️❤️May I suggest that you do everything first to get the house mold free? E.g. fix the roof, cut out all materials of the old water damage and then get the house tested before you go on? Mold can make you so extreme!y ill.

Thank you so much for sharing this! I bought an old cabin with a friend of mine in April 2021 in Norway. Our situation is a bit different, as we both live in separate apartments in the city nearby, and our cabin is without electricity and water, but I recognize a lot of the elements from yours (especially that cardboard wall-covering at around 11:35, I spent SO many hours removing exactly the same stuff from our cabin this summer!) Seeing you just tackle all these challenges is incredibly motivating. It has been a challenge learning to prioritize the tasks, especially when they involve things I know nothing about.

You’ve got some serious guts to take on a project like this on your own, but good for you for following your dream. But I worry about the winter. How will you get groceries with just a bike? You’re going to need some dogs and a dogsled if you don’t want to get a car, which seems to be what you really need out in a rural area, especially during a build project like this. Hope you’re staying warm up there! ❄️
Great stuff. Looking forward to your progress. Remember to look after those eyes. Safety glasses when demolishing are a must. Good luck with everything.
Just a little tip for your water pump , you van isolate it with stone wool /glass wool pan or styrofoam and add a 60w incandescent lightbulb inside this will generate enough heat to stop your waterlines from freezing. If it turned out to be to cold use a 100w bulb 💡 love following your progress! Stay safe and enjoy the experience.
I'm currently renovating a 100 year old house and I admire your courage to do it without having a car! I wouldn't have a clue how to go about without the car I have.
There was three doors most likely so each family had two ways to get in and out. You mentioned one family lived on one side and a second on the other. Possibility each side needed two ways out

Welcome to Sweden! Looking forward to hear more about your experience with the Swedish winter 😊 I'm up north in Umeå, my mother lives remotely a bit further in land and grows all her veggies and fruits on the lot, we have zone 5 here so its possible to be self sufficient up north as well. Good luck and enjoy!
Hi! I've followed you for quite a long while and have all this time though that you are living in the north of Sweden! Today, for some strange reason, your first videos turned up and I watched them. It then turns out that you actually lives very far southwest were even I live 🤗. That fact explains why I soooo well have recognised the deciduous forrest and the type of late 1800-talscabin you are renovating 😂. You do an amazing job and are proving how much a woman with ideas, skills and a lot of self-confidence are capable to achive - congratulations to your wonderful place on earth! Warm greetings from Ewa 🌿🐝🌿!
You have a lot to do, but with your determination, I know you will get it done. I really admire the fact that you are doing this on your own, and without a vehicle to get your supplies.
Thank you for another interesting video showing how you are building your cabin! The drawer is fan- tastic example of not giving up and improvising your way to perfection! Another attribute that you possess is resilience! Lovely pattern to your floor- smooth and tranquil! I can't wait to see more of your work/play balanced lifestyle!🎉. It's so impressive to me, that you do/did all this on foot and on bicycle. Camping for me is always so scary, doing this in a whole new country to get from a to b sounds even more scary to me. I know you didn't expect this when i remember right from another video, but you are such a big inspiration. As someone who has worked trough a anxiety disorder my whole life, this is just so crazy. I watched a lot of renovation-youtuber, but everytime the only was the money. Which is already a huge point. But you do this all by yourself far away from most people and whitout a car. This is so different, and so wonderful.
I agree - sooner or later she'll find out the necessity of having a car. One cannot depend on helpful neighbours all the time - especially at a place you're supposed to live at the entire year. The countryside has its pros and cons.
I assume your choice of bicycle is so it can be used with public transport, that's a great idea, I'm a Brompton owner and a real fan of folding bicycles. However for regular travel locally a bike with bigger wheels would be more practical/comfortable. You should have both I think.
Right before the part of your video where you shared that you quickly learned that you don't ever want to demolish a house again, I was thinking that at this young age, the most important lesson you are probably going to learn is that you never want to do this again, and that it's a good thing that you learned this so young and on such a small home and not later on when you have many more financial responsibilities and (possibly) no safety net of your parents. I respect you for seeing this project through and learning some of the very difficult and expensive lessons you are likely to learn. Not only can I not do a project like this, I also would not want to learn how to do this. If I'm being honest, I don't even like to paint. lol I can only imagine what your parents must be saying to you, but I hope they are supporting your desire to make this happen, even if it doesn't quite turn out the way you initially hoped it would.
I'm enjoying following along on your journey as well! I have to say I'm not as far north as you are, and in fact I'm a little disappointed with the amount of snow I've received here... I anticipated an even bigger adventure :)
@@wildrosie Winters are a bit lackluster but maybe earlier springs and a longer growing season can make up for it. How have you fared during the storm season so far? Power outages are quite common and when your property is remote it can take some time, up to 2 weeks in worst case, before they get around to restoring it. It might be worth taking the time to hike along the power line to see how far it is to the more secure main line and maybe if some of it is dug down and protected from fallen trees. Or ask the neighbours about their experience with power outages in the area :) I think it's amazing what you do and I look forward to more stories!
Just stumbled across your channel purely by accident and I have to say considering what you have achieved you deserve far more views and likes than you currently have. You are a very determined, brave and driven person. Like you, I live alone in an 1850's farmhouse with open field views down a single track road in the arse-end of nowhere in Norfolk, in the UK and I could not be happier. Have you considered a Patreon membership scheme as I am sure, as your channel grows in popularity, this could soon become your main income stream? In any case count me in as a new subscriber for sure. Living alone in isolated conditions is not all a huge heap of fun, but taking the rough with the smooth, the benefits far outweigh the drawbacks IMHO. Regards Mark from the flatlands of Norfolk, UK
I don’t know 🤷🏽♀️ about anybody else but I’m not looking for a perfect renovation with all the bells and whistles. I love looking at real life situations and how to adapt if I were to ever do anything like you. Thank you so much for sharing. You have such great content. I love the fairy tell cabin. It’s beautiful to me 🙏🏽👌🏾💕💜💕💜💕
Good job so far! Do you have any architecture or design training, you seem to handle AutoCAD very well? Just 2 pieces of advice when it comes to building and demolishing. The first, do not stand directly under something when you are pooling down on it; and the second is don't cut the thing you are standing on. These things sound super obvious, but you would be surprised how often people get hurt by disregarding these 2 simple things. Good luck further and looking further to your next video.

I was recommended your videos today and I’m happy I found you among all RUclipsrs! Welcome to Sweden! ❤ I hope you got a building permit from the county (kommun) you live in before you altered the outside walls of the house. In Sweden you need a building permit before you do any alterations to the outside structure, like changing windows, color (all countys doesn’t require this if you live outside the city limits). Really any changes on outside walls and/or roof will requires planning permit! It will be expensive for you if the “kommun” you live will discover it before you take a contact with them, they can force you change all of it back to the original condition. I don’t mean to scare you, I just wanted you to know what’s required and that you make the contact (most of Swedes can speak English in some capacity). The countys don’t tend to be unreasonable if you have made a mistake as long it doesn’t brake any major laws, like destroying the nature. If you already knew all this, just ignore my message 😊 maybe it will help somebody else.
Hi there FYI the bearers are the ones that go in the floors then the joists then the floor boards what you have in the attic are gaps in the floor boards 😊 And drawing of the layout of the house both levels and the whole set up would really help viewers understand what you are planning 😊
Plumbers here in sweden are honestly highly paid, so if your plumber would dig your trench it would have cost ALOT to put it mildly but i definetly respect the fact that he told you how to do it yourself, you saved alot of money there and gained some free knowledge :)
I'm just so impressed by you and your purposefulness. I can't help watching your videos. You're off to a great start! Lot's of hard work for certain but so worth it. Looking forward to watching your journey of transformation. Thank you for sharing it and I can't wait for the next video!
Small rooms and windows are beneficial during the winter season, they make it much easier to keep warm. An open floor plan assumes the house is very well insulated and heated with inexpensive energy. The electricity bills will become humongous with direct electric heating.
Hi there...oh i litterly strain my body remembering the feeling i had when i demolished my gipsy wagon. But now, 4 years later i can sit and love my house over and over again... So follow your hart, cru and screem, and never give up. The cottage is beautifull. I put an electric wire around my pump, which stands in a isolated outhouse, the wire has a thermostate. Just googel for it. It seems Saver than a heater.... Wil follow you... Love from jane 73 jr in Holland
My wife and I are clinging to your every word and bit of advice. Sweden is THE place for our future. Myself particularly have never really felt at home in the towns or cities, but it has taken me 45 years to discover where I want to be. Your journey is an inspiration ❤️
The problem is, unless you have a load of cash stashed away, you will need to figure out how to make an income working remotely. I imagine that's what stops the majority of people moving to a place like that.
Hello Rosie, I recently discovered your channel (#37 I think) and now am starting way back at the beginning. Some viewers might perceive you as naive and optimistic but they are in for a wonderful surprise. You are obviously a Type 5 on the Enneagram. Meticulous with your research, planning, and execution. Cheers from northern Colorado.
...a coffee in the swedish morning sun, the best way starting a day 😍. What lovely place you found! The garden, the authentic swedisch cabin...so beautifull. Can't wait to see you next videos about it. (P.s. if you have a "Lantmännen" check there prices, they are often less priceless when you need material, skrews, nails and so on)
@Kirby lol that makes no sense also, I’m a tv model with way more of a following. What fame and I getting from leaving a comment? I watched the video, I like.. I comment. Get a life buddy
I recommend using natural materials if possible. For example lime paint and lin seed oil paints, sheep wool or hemp as insulation and natural wax and oils for wood preservation. Because many materials nowadays are made from mineral oil and will give of harmful chemicals. And natural materials can be composted in the end.
What an adventure you are having, I take my hat off to you. Doing all that renovation alone can be daunting but it looks like you have enough courage to do your little house the way you see it. Look forward to the next video.
Nice to see all the women in comments who also have rehabbed old houses. Definitely a steep learning curve especially when realizing home repair shows are not realistic. Just stay healthy
There are kits you can make your bike motorized. It would be heavier but if you get one that only carried as might energy (either gas or electric) you can go as far as you need to and back and the set up may be light enough to still be portable.
I just came across your channel and I'm in love. You are very inspiring and I highly appreciate all the work and effort you are putting into your dreams and to a lifestyle, you want to live. Also, SO nice to see someone doing renovations and learning on the way, not being an expert and not having all the money in the world for it. I'm also on the way to finding my own old house and starting the same journey as you here in the north of Finland. Sending you lots of strength and hugs, keep up the good work 🥰
@@wildrosie, I've been trying to find a cabin or a wooden house here in the North of Finland for two years now. I think it's going to happen soon and then, I could post about renovation, too. I hope all the best to you, keep up the good work 🥰
Put the highest thing on your wish list if your going to renovate more. A sledgehammer and a crowbar. An ordinary hammer is not the right tool for that. But it is nice to see your started the reno. project in youor cabin now
I really admire that you followed your heart to just buy a house and move to another country. ( and a bit jealous 😉) Not being scared of the things that will come up during the first month living there and the renovation. If I may give you an advise about the layout…. If you have cold winters, maybe rethink the open spaces, as you lose a lot of heath. Between entrance and kitchen, I would suggest a wall/door…. But maybe you have thought it over and came to this decision anyway. So, sorry if I am interfering….
You should be very happy about that kakelugn (=tile oven) that you casually call a fire place lol. That word don’t do it justice. They are amazing. It’s a swedish invention from the 1700s (the invention, not your particular stove) and they are built to heat a large space for a long time. Inside it there are loads of pipes leading the smoke around so it heats the whole thing. If you put a few logs in before bedtime it will usually still be warm when you wake up. They’re super efficient and was made to conserve firewood because we used too much back then. They are expensive and sought after. I reckon it would cost between 50-100k swedish to have one such as yours bought and installed. Regarding digging for the pipes, I did just that at my old cottage in Sweden last summer and also put isolation on top of it. It was a bit of a pain in the arse to dig that deep manually, just using shovels but it can be done. It’s gonna take months of work. If you hire some professional or if you’re lucky to know someone with an excavator it’s like 2 days of work. I know because I talked to a professional about it. Was about the same length of digging needed. We were too stingy to pay up the 30k he asked for so did it ourselves anyway. Good luck with everything, I’m cheering you on:)
My advise don't over stretch yourself,As in taking to much off the building at once..I would agree with the guy about mold free.Try get insulation upgraded ,also if possible keep log finish for Character.Check logs near the ground for rot.Pace yourself better get small areas done right. If you find Rot remove it,now is the time.same with gutters on the Roof ,can do a lot Damage to the building.Check the old wiring to see if it's in good order,a Electrician job.Pipes etc. Good luck .

My carpenter acquaintance got a splinter in his eye, it took 15 minutes to the doctor to remove it. So please wear safety glasses 👓.

It seems you have an idea of what you want to do. Slow and steady does win the race.
Modern pioneer. I love your minimalist lifestyle. Your spirit, lifestyle, quietistism and design seems almost quaker.
I'm currently renovating a 100 year old house and I admire your courage to do it without having a car! I wouldn't have a clue how to go about without the car I have.
Most impressed with your planning and construction skills. Look forward to more of your adventure.
This is so cool! Can't wait to see how you transform this house! ^_^
Keep up the good Work. I admire your courage and passion for doing things on your own.

I found you just recently and decided to start from the beginning of the series. Love your channel
Wow, your video making skills are amazing! I happen to know how much time goes into creating RUclips videos and it can be very tedious.
Good job!
A bike is an absolute lifesaver when you live in the country!
Thank you for another interesting video showing
how you are building your cabin! The drawer is fan-
tastic example of not giving up and improvising
your way to perfection! Another attribute that you
possess is resilience! Lovely pattern to your floor-
smooth and tranquil! I can't wait to see more of
your work/play balanced lifestyle!🎉. Love&hugs

You seem very capable and confident. You go girl! You got this!
I’m excited to come to Sweden for my summer cottage🤩
I would invest in a scooter 🛵 for weekly shopping and eventually a car for winter 🥶 ❄️❄️
If I'm being honest, I don't even like to paint. lol
I can only imagine what your parents must be saying to you, but I hope they are supporting your desire to make this happen, even if it doesn't quite turn out the way you initially hoped it would.
It's great to see someone else tackling one of these old Swedish properties. Will be following along 😊 Hope you got it sorted before the snow came!
Or ask the neighbours about their experience with power outages in the area :)
I think it's amazing what you do and I look forward to more stories!
@@hybridwafer Hence the candles I mentionned before...hyggggeeee
Regards
Mark from the flatlands of Norfolk, UK
May I ask what you do for a living and how you finance everything?
Hi Rosanne ,looking forward to your journey on rebuilding your home. Your abilities are amazing,- never give up - wear safety glasses and hope you got your Tetanus shot+ always have a safety kit with big bandages - just in case/ tourniquet also- hope you never need .Always carried with me in Vietnam, actually had to use- hope you are also learning beautiful Svenska. 😍 Stay warm and safe. I was recommended your videos today and I’m happy I found you among all RUclipsrs!
Welcome to Sweden! ❤
I hope you got a building permit from the county (kommun) you live in before you altered the outside walls of the house.
You are doing brilliant! All of this is so inspiring!
You really put some professional planning on this project and a lot of ❤ in it. Can't wait to watch the next video 🥰
Hi there FYI the bearers are the ones that go in the floors then the joists then the floor boards what you have in the attic are gaps in the floor boards 😊
And drawing of the layout of the house both levels and the whole set up would really help viewers understand what you are planning 😊
I'm a teenager and by watching your channel I'm getting more and more motivated because ya are so so single-minded. I'm dreaming of such a house, as I love nature moreover, of Nordic and Germanic countries' ones. I'll do everything to reach my dream and ya will be the main inspiration source for me. Love ya so much!!!!!❤❤❤❤❤❤
I have been watching all your videos! I love your sweet little homestead! You make great vlogs. Hope all is going well. Sending lots of love and hugs and hope and peace 💕 ✌ ❤
You have truly made some good attempts at renovations and repair of your new home. Kudos! Looking forward to the many changes coming soon.
Sweetheart, please protect your eyes!!! So glad I found you. Following you from now on. XX
That looks like so much work, respect to you for doing it alone without much knowledge! Can't wait to see the progress and how it turns out in the future! I wish you the best and that everything works out =)
You're off to a great start!
You are so amazing Rosie! You inspire me to just figure things out and get things done!
What a beautiful location.
It seems
Saver than a heater....
Wil follow you...

@@sunset5461 that’s where a property portfolio comes into its own creating a passive income.
you are doing very well for no hands on experience , great patience
Hello Rosie,
I recently discovered your channel (#37 I think) and now am starting way back at the beginning.
(P.s. if you have a "Lantmännen" check there prices, they are often less priceless when you need material, skrews, nails and so on)
Coffee in any Swedish sun is a great way to start the day. Especially when you don't see the sun until 9am.
Thank you for documenting your journey!
So exciting!
@Kirby lol that makes no sense also, I’m a tv model with way more of a following. What fame and I getting from leaving a comment? I watched the video, I like.. I comment. Get a life buddy
i love the fact that you have floor plans and drawings on the computer.
Winter should be fun there, can't even imagine.
Whoaaaas! Can't wait to see another! Go for it, Rosie, you will do it great!
You are such a brave girl, I can see that. life will support you. God bless you.
What an adventure you are having, I take my hat off to you. Doing all that renovation alone can be daunting but it looks like you have enough courage to do your little house the way you see it. Look forward to the next video.
Those cabins must be very cheap??? 😳 Green with envy of course 😂💕💕
Nice to see all the women in comments who also have rehabbed old houses. Definitely a steep learning curve especially when realizing home repair shows are not realistic. Just stay healthy
I love your honesty, never stop what you are doing.😃☀️
There are kits you can make your bike motorized. It would be heavier but if you get one that only carried as might energy (either gas or electric) you can go as far as you need to and back and the set up may be light enough to still be portable.
I just came across your channel and I'm in love. You are very inspiring and I highly appreciate all the work and effort you are putting into your dreams and to a lifestyle, you want to live. Also, SO nice to see someone doing renovations and learning on the way, not being an expert and not having all the money in the world for it. I'm also on the way to finding my own old house and starting the same journey as you here in the north of Finland. Sending you lots of strength and hugs, keep up the good work 🥰
OMG your videos are beautiful! I hope you will also vlog your renovations? Would love to see another girl doing the same :)
@@wildrosie, I've been trying to find a cabin or a wooden house here in the North of Finland for two years now. I think it's going to happen soon and then, I could post about renovation, too. I hope all the best to you, keep up the good work 🥰
It will be your home! ❤️❤️
Put the highest thing on your wish list if your going to renovate more. A sledgehammer and a crowbar. An ordinary hammer is not the right tool for that. But it is nice to see your started the reno. project in youor cabin now
Amazing video dear. Thank you for sharing
I was almost screaming: CROWBAR, watching this :)
hahaha we got those later on!
Can't wait for the next video. I love following you on this adventure of creating your own space in the woods. Thank you for sharing :)
Wow so nice place watching from Philippines 🇵🇭
Good luck .
It's a cool project you have going on! I have now seen the first three videos, respect from here :)
Hallo from Norway. Looking forward to follow you. 💕
It's like you stepped out of time and into a Pettson and Findus story. :) (if you know the children stories)
