Will join all of you in fasting tomorrow.
Thank you John! You were the very first Christian singer I saw in concert - a trio of Tony Melendez, Tom Booth and yourself in San Angelo, TX in 1997. I would enjoy meeting you someday before I die. You're a wonderful inspiration!

I miss hearing your brother Terry singing here in Oregon.
No winners in any war. But what about millions of babies who have been taken from their mothers bodies just because she had other plans
Fasting for this cause doesn't negate the fight to end abortion. You can also offer fasts and penance for that cause. Highlighting one doesn't make another less important.

I would like to clarify what John said here. He urged us to pray and fast for peace. He did not say Hamas' evil actions were justified or that Israel has no right to defend itself. Jesus himself encouraged us to be peacemakers (Matthew 5:9). This has always been one of Jesus' least popular, least proclaimed, and least practiced teachings. John, thank you for having the courage to post this. You are in good company with Francis of Assisi, Nelson Mandela, and Dietrich Bonhoeffer, and Yeshua of Nazareth.
There will be no peace until Jesus comes,so no use praying for it.Remember he said in Matthew 24 that there will be wars and rumours of wars, famines, pestilences and persecution near the end of the age, these are the beginning of sorrows but when they happen, lift up your heads because your redemption draws near.We all need to read the bible not hang on the popes words.
Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called the children of God. (Matthew 5:9)
Pray for the peace of Jerusalem. (Psalm 122:6)
Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place,
and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. (Ephesians 6:15-16).
Yes, as you said, we need to read the Bible. Jesus may be our ultimate peace with God and with each other, but nowhere does the Bible promote apathy or resignation when it comes to working for peace.
I love your music. I always have. But playing the "moral equivalency" and "context" card in the face of what Hamas did is beneath you, sir. We are called to "hate evil," in Psalm 97. And Israel ... God's chosen people, do not bear the sword in vain.
Hate the sin, not the sinner.
@@MsBrigitte2012 Absolutely, yes. That is why the Psalm says to hate evil. God also absolutely allows for authorities and governments to exact earthly justice upon those who r*pe, murder, kidnap, and brutalize people. Indeed, He moves nations in His providential design to bring His justice and wrath upon the wicked.
