This was a great comparison video Grant. Thanks for the hardwork and effort that has gone into this just like all your other comparison videos, and those moon shots.... 🤓
I really hope that the Vivo X series, which will launch in Q2 and Q4 2023, will have much better speakers, microphone, stabilization and HDR than the Vivo X90 Pro+! Also supports 4K60fps on all cameras including the front facing camera with gyro-EIS
I greatly appreciate all the effort you put in making this video. You made sure to shoot with zeiss on off for vivo and vibrant and authentic for xiaomi, and had tons of sample shots! Thank you Sir! p.s. As someone who spends a lot of time editing RAW photos of my Ricoh GR on my PC, I personally love the leica authentic shots of Xiaomi and how it produces a bit cooler image with decreased color luminance, and the best whites I have seen in a smartphone photo
Great again! I think you just forgot the low light zoom shots! As a suggestion, if you could focus a little bit more on low light, especially in video from the rear cameras. Try to record both at your usual location as well as for an alternative location, if possible (you could cut off a bit of the flowers shot segment for the video not to get to large). Ah, if possible, recording at low light from the zoom cameras as well. Thank you, sir!
Amazing comparison as always! Vivo won every category for me except for one! Also you can clearly see that because of the Zeiss optimization the 1 inch sensor on the Vivo hets even more light in than the Xiaomi 12S Ultra! Front facing cinematic mode was the only one Xiaomi won for me, because around the edges of your face it looked a bit more natural. But what I found interesting is that cinematic mode on the rear camera Xiaomi is the first phone that comes close to the Vivo, Video quality was still not as good, but it looked very natural as on the Vivo so it seems like it has something to do with the 1 inch sensor, maybe it's because of the stronger natural bokeh of the big sensor, therefore they don't need to blur it as much artificially
Zeiss mode on Vivo is a game changer. Beats even the best. Probably the best still photography camera in the market, better than S23U and iPhone 14 max.
I would love to know how you got your X90 Pro plus since it's not available for Global so I would appreciate it if you could share how or where you ordered yours from. Great video as always by the way.
I own both , the thing that Vivo excels with is the lens coating at night , it really makes a difference , however, i feel the software on 12s ultra is more well tuned to deal with the 1 inch sensor in the overall image handling
Great review as always. I think the vivo had a slight edge over the xiaomi. Do you think you can maybe incorporate some night street life shots/vidoes in your future videos?
This kind of videos are great for people who just want to point and shoot, but I think it's time you start putting more info (or links to such info) about the different sensor sizes of each phone and if each one allows raw shooting or not, among maybe other technical things
Pretty tough call. This one seems to go back and forth, sometimes one seems more natural and have better detail, then the other. The same holds true for blur and saturation.
Fotografía de día esperaba más diferencia, mejor HDR Vivo y más sharpen. Leica parece en ocasiones más realista, sobre todo colores verdes en Vivo y tono muy calido. Genial comparativa con los modos leica y zeiss en on y off.
Are you planning on reviewing the x90 pro+ against the S23U? Bizarrely, nobody has done an in-depth comparison yet which makes me think Samsung has imposed some sort of review embargo against the only phone which can beat it
Some of the post-processed images taken by the 12s Ultra look similar to the ones taken by my Pixel 7 pro. Is it possible to do a camera comparison between the 7 pro and the 12s ultra?
Vivo g Gets most of the focus so right and successfully avoid overblown highlights but the dark shadows in daylight photos is not my cup of coffee. Xiaomi I tend to love its subtle colour and more natural look, but not so successful in keeping the highlight, has focus problem in close ups.
I own 12s ultra and i cant find portrait/cinematic video recording mode,,,, I’m on cn rom latest version. How did you gain access to cinematic mode on this phone?
Vivo X90 Pro Plus was looking good except for the selection to 3.5x and then onto 10x video zoom in daylight (8:05 onwards) which was very poor and looked like a digital zoom from main when compared to Xiaomi 12S Ultra.
It actually didn't switch the lenses, since there was absolutely no contrast, lighting or detail change indicating it. Grant has some other videos in the same exact situation where one phone switches the lens and the other accidentally doesn't, and the video zoom comparison is completely f*cked up.
Vivo way better . Only phones that can compete with the Vivo are : Pixel 7 pro and s23 Ultra . But they still cant get crown .x90 pro plus its a tech marvel .
@@Samdevay If you want best camera and can pay more x90 pro plus/x90 pro . If you want camera but want better price : Pixel 7 pro . If you dont care are about camera that much and want great performance : OP 11 /xiaomi 13 pro . They got good cameras but not top ones . Not that the x90 pro its a beast in performance aswell but it had mediatek not latest SD chip which its top of the line
Thanks for including the 50MP samples; I'd go with Xiaomi because it appears more natural, with less sharpening. But what stands out is that both lack the polish of something like an iPhone. For example, the selfie cameras and video are a big letdown considering the cutting edge hardware. It's not a surprise that people buy iPhones. They are late to get the latest hardware but when they do, they make the most out of it.
These are two incredible devices. But I'm liking the VIVO X90 PRO PLUS cameras better. Images faithful to reality. I don't like photos with a lot of saturation, I like them with real images. "Like, we take a picture with a different shade of clothing and then when the image is displayed it's different."
i don't get it why they want to make the night look so fake on video, they could at least make it look in between what you actually see and what they offer now on auto mode but i have the vivo and you can lower the brigthness in auto mode, no need for pro mode
I prefer the vivo but the 12S Ultra is no slouch. For me it comes down to image processing. vivo does such a good job in that area.
Same here, Barry.

I'd like to, but I shoot here I have time. Hopefully will get some nice shots in my upcoming trip to Japan.
i won't be disappointed with either one.... we're talking close to DSLR level photography from a phone!!
The best camera comparison I watched for these two phones. No bias, just true content.

This kind of videos are great for people who just want to point and shoot, but I think it's time you start putting more info (or links to such info) about the different sensor sizes of each phone and if each one allows raw shooting or not, among maybe other technical things
I usually discuss the camera specs and what they mean at the start of each video.
That's a starting point, though I mean *ALL* camera sensors of each phone
I really like the Vivo with the Zeiss mode on. I think that would be my go to for sure.
Thanks for stopping by, Dan! This seems to be the consensus, most people like that Zeiss mode.

How did you shoot 2x digital with Vivo if it has a special 2x camera with far better optics than the cropped main camera of Xiaomi would ever have
Because from closer distances it isn't able to focus and uses a digital zoom on the main sensor. This is common for all phone camera systems.
@@GrantLikesTech really, it switches to main sensor? Cool, didn't know that
@@kittenfrompicture In auto mode all phone cameras will use digital zoom to keep focus. You can force it to use the telephoto lenses in pro mode.
