Funny you should post this Simon. I've been looking into one of these as an alternative mount to just my helmet. Like the idea of it and it's good to see it actually in use. Looks good.
I would be interested in seeing clips from other activities using this mount. I wonder how it would look while walking or doing other activities that naturally cause your shoulders to move about.
I like the second person view. I can see where it would be useful at some of the stuff I do. Say for hiking, it would also allow commentary with the onboard mic at the shoulder.
Personally, I prefer the view from the shoulder rather than on the helmet. The helmet is constantly moving and most videos from that point of view give me motion sickness after awhile. Besides, why spend big money to get a quiet helmet and then stick mounts all over it? lol... This vantage point almost seems like the viewer is riding with you on the back, looking over your shoulder. Thanks for posting! I think I will go get one now.
I have never been that happy with the Drift Camera. Friends GoPro's quality seems so much better? This does look OK though for when riding your bike or as a car camera.
I'm debating on getting the shoulder mount but can you change the layout so you can have it rear facing or is it fixed? Thought it would make a good rear view perspective to edit along side a front helmet view when riding
Does this mount come with the piece that the camera attaches to? It looks like the goggle mount that was included with the camera? Do we have to use the one we already have, or does this include a new one?
xXHUNTERXxXx You just get the harness and mount which is attached to the harness and can be moved to the other shoulder too if you like. You dont get the screw in attachment that goes into the camera.
The main threat to a biker is people pulling out in front of them. With this mount you don't get a very good view of the near side which is where one of the main dangers are. Good quality picture though.
two issues I see. you loose alot more of the view than helmet mounted as your head is in the way and as you say it doesn't move as you move your head. if a car pulled out on your left side it wouldn't show on camera. apart from that I quite like it

Feels like we're riding on the back and looking over your shoulder ^_^ pretty cool!

Nice, I think it looks good, it gives a different angle you don't see a lot on youtube. But I think for vlogging the helmet mount is probably better.

Hi, the way the drift camera and its generic mount are designed you can fixate it in any way you want. So yes you can point it backwards if you like.

Thanks for the info!
I looks good but i would not use it on a bike personally ... more for other type of vids where both hands are needed and no helmet

Nah. Who wants to see only the road ahead and never the scenic view to the side?
