This was my go-to reference recording when I learned this 5+ years ago. Now I'm old & can't believe I did this. How perspective changes from age 23 to age 29.
...On th edge of your seat, leaning forward to grasp what is being communicated. Definite response. Engage with this world. There's much to do, much to savour. Great pace. Great variability. Above all, promise. A great reception by the audience. Wow! One of the longest I've heard." Words from Kevin Hurley (part 2).
"Listening to the second movement. Too much orchestra at the start. Very dynamic now. Now he's in control - with his art not his personality, though that's probaly strong also. You'd need a strong personality to be so assertive with an orchestra. Exciring, engaging piece. Like a stream tumbling down the side of a mountaing and vying withe ambient for attention. The ear has it, Calm now. Meditative. Water. A stone thrown in a well. The well of consciousness" Words from Kevin Hurley (part 1).
Hi Andrew. Thank you very much. For the second movement I use to use different mallets for each section. Terry Gibs (hard green), Musser M-235, Rosauro's Vic Firth (marimba very soft). For bend Iñaki's Glockenspiel acrylic. I hope answered your question! Best regards!
Ola Oscar. Distintos mallets.
